Po’Boy Tuesdays! I repeat, Po’Boy Tuesdays! I’m a little late to the Gabe’s being in Douglasville game. Several people have mentioned that the Villa Rica location is fabulous and I always thought it was just a tad bit too far for me to go for some cajun and creole food. I’ve been to Gumbeaux’s, but I have to say that I very much prefer Gabe’s. I feel like everything at Gumbeaux’s is fried. That is definitely not the case here. We came here on a Tuesday night and there was a small wait for a table. So, we sat at the bar to kill some time. Lucky us, we got there before 7. They have a great Happy Hour special from 5 – 7. Certain small plates are only $ 3. We ordered two creole bahn mi sliders and a crawfish pie. It was a ridiculous amount of food. Plenty to split between three people and still feel like you’re getting enough to eat. Our table was ready after 15 minutes so we moved over to the dining room. In case you didn’t know, Gabe’s offers Po’boy sandwiches on Tuesday evenings. All kinds. Shrimp, oyster, roast beef, catfish, crab cake. So many choices I couldn’t decide. I ended up starting off with the garlic butter poached crab claws and getting the traditional shrimp po’boy for dinner. The crab claws were super tasty and a really good value. You get a large number of crab claws and toasted bread for only $ 12. Make sure you use your bread to sop up the garlic butter. Ignore the sound of your arteries clogging up. It’s worth it. The shrimp po’boy was really good. You get a large number of shrimp and they aren’t too greasy. You get your choice of side. I went with the fries. The sandwich is large enough that I was only able to eat half. Service is friendly and attentive. This place is a hike for me, but I’m looking forward to coming back and trying more items on the menu.

This place is the best. This is the newer establishment of the successful Gabe’s in villa rica. The only bad thing about this place is probably the parking. It’s staying true to «Downtown» so it’s also a bit out of the way. We came around 1:30 for lunch. On a side note, this place closes at 2pm for lunch but opens again for dinner. This place in my view has a much nicer décor. Compared to the Villa Rica location which has a rustic and bee wooden filled design. This place has a blue green paint job and is lighter and I just feel like it’s better. The front of the restaurant is divided into 5 parts. The main dining room. The upstairs banquet room and outdoor seating The restroom/kitchen And the small waiting room. We were seated at a half booth half chairs table. Our server was really friendly and attentive. It’s too bad I forgot her name. We got our drinks right away. We ordered the garlic crab claws and the crab and corn bisque to start with. The garlic crab claws were good. They were pretty large and the garlic sauce they were in was great. the only problem was that they were hard to eat. The corn and crab bisque was divine. It was creamy with good chunks of crab and plenty of corn. It was served in a bread bowl which was also surprisingly good bread. Next we ordered the chicken prosciutto pasta, jambalaya, downtown burger, and the seafood étouffée. My entrée was the was the chicken prosciutto pasta but I did get to taste the Jambalaya. It was really good but I don’t know how to describe it. Also for the amount you pay you get a plethora of food. My pasta was great. Here’s my more detailed description a penne pasta drenched in a cream sauce with corn and prosciutto with a crispy chicken breast on top and frisked with a balsamic sauce. The food was creamy and the balsamic helped to balance out all the saltiness in the pasta. The chicken is the perfect crispness yet still moist. Lastly we ordered the daily special desert which was a smore’s cheesecake. This was satisfactory. The cheesecake had a good balance of the graham cracker crust, marshmallow top, and chocolate but I prefer their Crème Brûlée. In comparison to other restaurants, this place is pretty cheap. This was just a great experience. I recommend it to everyone.

I eat at a LOT of medium and high– end restaurants. I am a very good amateur chef. So… listen up owners of Gabe’s. The Shrimp and Grits abysmal. Have you guys tried shrimp at grits elsewhere lately? I have– 1910 Public House in Lilburn, Last night. THEIR’S is pretty darned good. Yours is a mix mash of…. horridness. I managed to eat ½ of it, but not happily. Too greasy, oily. no great flavors, frozen shrimp that clearly was not grilled or prepped any way interesting(no they were not blackened)… ya know, it almost seemed like the cheese was Velveta. Versus some really tangy cheddar(like I had at 1910 Public House. oops! Hey– where was the flavorful andouille sausage? Seriously. want more rant? Jalapeño grits? i LOVE jalapeño. tasty nary a whiff. Not sure what the cone shaped appetizer was. cajun egg-roll maybe? Back to the drawing board, chef. Just for the record, I give far more 4 stars and than 1 star ratings. But that Shrimp grits. epic fail. Normally when I email the owners of a 1-star experience, they offer a free pass and I’m willing to pay a 2nd visit. But when it’s this bad, the chef is flavor blind. OK, cheap shot. Maybe other dishes edible or better(so they say…). Nice folks, too. But no excuse for poor Cajun when in the South

My husband found this place and boy am I glad he did!!! Everything was delish! Paul the manager and Emily our server were perfect hosts. They made our anniversary lunch such a pleasure. The décor and atmosphere was so welcoming and nice. In Atlanta where good food is hard to find, we finally found a place worthy of calling itself a Louisiana bistro!

I can’t begin to say enough good things about this place. Everything we ordered was AMAZING! The portions were large and delicious! I had the shrimp and grits and seriously there was enough for two to three ppl. The shrimp were large and cooked perfectly. I’d like to also praise the staff. We came in about 40 mins before closing so we checked to make sure that was ok. They never once rushed us or made us feel like we were a bother. We even ordered dessert and our waitress told us to take our time she was rolling silverware so we were fine. It’s nice to know there’s still places out there that care about the quality of food and service.

Great view of downtown. Nice outdoor seating. Nice waitress. But was a little disappointed that the burger was not on the dinner menu and our table was a little wobbly but they sent someone up to fix it. Everything else was great. Definitely a five star restaurant. Recommend to everyone. Nicest, sit down, restaurant around.

This is currently my favorite restaurant! We have eaten dinner here, and participated in the wine tasting event dinners. Both experiences have been magical with every dish being unique, beautiful to look at and perfectly cooked. I get so excited every time we plan on coming here, because I know that I’m going to get food I’ve never had before cooked perfectly so I can enjoy a unique and top quality dinning experience. I can’t wait to come back for the early bird specials, Tapas at the bar and/or the cooking classes they give. I will be back ASAP!

My wife and I enjoyed lunch yesterday. I was pleasantly surprised how good the food was. We ordered the egg rolls as an appetizer. They were pretty good but I wouldn’t order again. They were fried nice and crispy but the taste was just so so. My wife had the bisque for her entrée. It was very good. It had fresh corn in it. I had the lunch combo. Half a catfish po’boy and a cup of the gumbo. The sandwich was very good. The fish was fried well and served hot. The bread was soft and not too crunchy on the outside. The gumbo was very dark and well seasoned. The portion was rather small but it was good. They also provide fresh baked bread and butter. That is always a good thing. The service was very strong and attentive. As other reviews have stated it can be a little loud, but it was not too bad. I will definitely be back!

Great food. Good service. The environment isn’t quite the same as the Villa Rica location but the service and food was top notch.

Enjoyed the food but the atmosphere was awful. We were seated upstairs with a very loud party and it ruined our dinner. We took our food and left. The server tried to get the party to quiet down but I think they had a few too many drinks so it didn’t help. If we go again, we will definitely not sit upstairs.

Very Loud! Food was ok but not anything to brag about. Very expensive for lunch also.

Pros, french bread was good. Very large side ceasar salad before the entrée. Two menus, one for lunch and one for dinner. Food was good. Cons, I agree with some that it was loud and the seating capacity is small. So get there early. Its a new restaurant so hopefully they will invest in better seating and as my wife suggested, if they built floor to ceiling partitions between the seating along the wall will also help with the noise.

Slow service. Manager walking around not helping. Very loud, Iphone said 82db. Crab cakes and spinach salad were good. Fried green tomatoes to thick. ½in before they were breaded.

This place is a fresh breath of fresh air for the historical part of Douglasville. The food is original, always warm and comes out quick. Better yet, the staff is attentive and very friendly. To date I’ve got back to this place, at least a half a dozen times and make sure those who are new to town, visit the great place. Lastly, they have outdoor seating and a banquet room upstairs, need I say more?

This place is amazing. For eight years they’ve had an a five star dining experience in Villa Rica. Now they’ve expanded to Douglasville thus giving us our first truly wonderful dining experience. The service is fast and professional and the food is beyond delicious. Every single dish they offer is of the highest possible quality. For added atmosphere, be sure to try dining on the upper level. It’s a gorgeous deck that is quite comfortable.
