I have never been to an Office Max where the sales associates literally see you and ignore you. I went to a buy an office desk and apply for an Office Max Credit Card. I had to approach and actually ask them for my business. I got the approval for my Credit Card but I left afterwards. I decided I would rather drive 10 miles to a different Office Max where the customer service has a better rating rather than deal with this poor excuse of service if that is what they call it.

Shopping for electronics to me is like shoe shopping for some people. I like to take my time and look at each interface, and form factor, and bells and whistles of the piece of equipment. I get a similar sensation when looking for old fashioned(pen and paper) office supplies. Looking from that perspective, this OfficeMax suffered from a case of insufficient stimulation! Everyone knows from my restaurant reviews that I am quick to take out stars when service is lousy, regardless of the taste of the food. Imagine my reaction, then of walking into a big-box store(after navigating the parking lot it shares with Walmart) and waiting close to 15 minutes to be greeted by an employee. With a basic explanation, I was left in the one department without said employee checking up on me to ask if I had any questions. I ended up not purchasing the electronics — Strike 1. Strike 2 was having to wander a good 15 minutes to look for«old fashioned» drafting supplies. I finally had to ask another employee who just pointed the general area where the supplies were. I understand stores cut employees in response to the recession, and probably some marketing guru deciding that allowing us to wander within the store means we’re likely to get something else. Not me! Call me old school but I like personal attention when shopping. The«climax» was waiting over 10 minutes to pay!

I have been quite loyal to Office Depot on 107 ave. strictly because of location and because my company gave me an office depot card but this Office MAX is AWESOME. I do a lot of in house printing for clients but I have this one guy who won’t accept any fliers unless I Z-FOLD them. Office Depot usually charges…$ 0.10 per page but their machine is always broken. When I called Office Max they quoted me $.03 a page. I quickly hung up the phone and drove over there. The place is so comfy inside. The print/copy center is really nice, they have remodeled it and added nice chairs and tables. Not to mention a screen so you can see if they got your file correctly. I LOVEIT! The people were so nice and seemed very knowledgeable. I always print a coupon before I go.

What a choice for a comeback review, huh? Well, planning a wedding isn’t easy but there are some places that make it a bit easier on the bride. OfficeMax is this such place. I thought I was going to have to pay through the nose for save-the-date cards, turns out OfficeMax had them for $ 10.99. Yeah, $ 10.99 for 50 print-them-yourself, pre-decorated save-the-date cards. Awesome, right? Well, awesome if you want to print them yourself, which for me isn’t a problem. Also, I had one of my favors laminated. Yes, there was only one person, and though I did think $ 1.10 per page was a bit overpriced, especially since he(the clerk) didn’t cut them(I had to, later, with a paper trimmer) and though I assembled them on the laminated page myself, they came out GREAT! AND it was fast! I know I’ll be doing some more shopping at OfficeMax before the wedding date! Cons: This place is almost empty all the time… don’t really know if that’s a con now…
