This restaurant was Amazing! We went for Valentines Day while spending the weekend at 7 springs. It was probably the best filet I ever had! There were 6 of us there and everyone loved their meals! Our server Bobby was excellent and we will be returning as soon as we are near!

This restaurant would be fabulous anywhere but for this area it’s beyond 5 star. We shared the smoked salmon app and could have stopped there. It was awesome. Both of us moved on to the brunch menu. I got the pork carnitas breakfast pizza and it was delicious. Wife got the chorizo and egg burrito and she raved about it. We had to take half of it home. The only ding would be the BYOB because they charge you to bring in a beer. Love this place. Wish we could have dinner tonight.

This restaurant is by far one of my favorite restaurants! The food is always great and it’s BYOB! The menu always has new things on it and the service is always great as well! They always give great recommendations. Well worth the drive or the drive off the mountain to eat here. It’s hard to pick a favorite but the bone in pork chop might be the best thing I have ordered. It was so perfectly cooked and my puppy was a happy boy getting the bone afterwards.

Honestly, my husband and I thought this restaurant was a bit overrated, considering how popular it seems to be. We had dinner there around the holidays, while staying at a cabin in the area. We were seated slightly late, despite having a reservation. I was also disappointed with our table, considering we had a reservation. The staff seemed overwhelmed and was running around a lot, which I find pretty distracting. We shared a fried artichoke heart special to start, and that was good. I had the PANROASTEDMAHIMAHI as a main course. The fish was over-cooked. The accompanying Brie & Grapefruit Salad was one tiny slice of brie and one grapefruit segment on a bed of greens. My husband had the GRILLEDBLACKANGUSFILET and seemed satisfied with it, including the temperature and side dishes. We didn’t try dessert. Remember to BYOB! This restaurant is ok, but we probably won’t go back.

The three blackened tuna tacos with mango salsa on grilled flour tortillas with sides of chipotle Aioli and Cilantro Sour Cream were expertly prepared. I ordered a side of truffled French fries. Highly recommend this lunch choice. ~$ 14 for entrée and $ 5 for the side. The pork BBQ sandwich was average at best.

Definitely a hidden gem stuck in Donegal, but worth it. The smoked salmon is what they’re known for. I like to get the platter as an appetizer. They give you many different toppings to try. If they have the mushroom bread pudding with the truffle cream as a side option when you go– you must try it!

Absolutely delicious lunch. Worth getting off the PA turnpike to stop here. Crabcake appetizer, smoked salmon salad, mushroom soup – all topnotch. Excellent service from Chris. Must stop again on our next trip! Look for Collectibles by Larry, and turn into their parking lot. It was a foggy day and we didn’t see the Café sign on our first pass.

Had an excellent early dinner here with my family and new grandparents from Ligonier. One of the best meals I’ve had in this region, and we hail from NYC! We ordered the famous mushroom soup, tuna tartar(teriyaki portion was excellent and I will be experimenting with my own recipe soon), smoked salmon house salad(grilled portobello mushroom was excellent, perfectly flavored), with the best testing truffle and mushroom risotto on the side. BYOB for $ 3 per person. A meal you will not regret!

Cute little country café. Actually, it’s not little at all. It’s rather large, yet somehow has a cozy feel to it. Maybe it’s the log cabin look. Or the beautiful sprawling view of the Laurel Highlands. Either way, it’s very inviting. They’re claim to fame is their mushroom soup, which in fact is delicious! I was tempted by a lot of the main menu dishes, but settled on their special of the day, a roasted yellow tomato BLT. I just cannot avoid the tomato, it’s so delicious! The sandwich was very good, coming on a sweeter rye bread and a delicious aioli(which I enjoy because you can’t have a sammich dry!). The fries came with and they were also good and crispy. It’s BYOB, so I regretted not bringing something along, but we were on our way to Fallingwater, so I didn’t want to be stumbling into Frank Llyod Wright’s masterpiece. I don’t think that would have been smart, or cheap!

I don’t give many 5 stars, but i am giving one out to them! Went to this restaurant last night for my wife and my anniversary… Atmosphere is awesome… went in October, so the picture window looked like an actual picture… Fall foliage… Also cool rustic hard wood weathered floors… But then the food… Incredible! Mushroom soup is definitely a MUSTGET! We had the filet as well with mushroom risotto and bacon Brussel sprouts… Once again… Incredible! Lastly, dessert… All of their desserts are made in house. Not bought… Including the ice cream! Was the first time i ever saw my wife eat everything on the plate and not take anything home… It’s just too good to stop!

We stopped here for lunch after recommendations on our way to St. Vincent College. I had the hummus platter and it was delicious. The food is very fresh. My dad had the reuben and loved it My mom really enjoyed the crab cake sandwich. It is very pricey so be prepared but the food has amazing flavors and is very fresh. The atmosphere is great. We were able to sit outside on the deck. My only complaint is that as a vegetarian, they didn’t really have any options besides hummus or a salad for lunch which is disappointing. I would think they would have a fresh veggie sandwich or something.

What a pleasant treat on the way back from Ohiopyle State Park, just about ½ way home off I-76. Ambience, food presentation, flavor, and service are all top-notch, making this venue worthy of 5 stars. There is a wonderful view from huge picture windows, as well. I had the pork chop; my dining companions opted for scallops and duck entrees as seen in the pictures. Portions, presentation, and purr-factor were spot-on, as was the pleasantness of our server. Then, to conclude, we tried desserts of the peach crisp and banana split cheesecake. Oh, yes, yes, yes to the cheesecake from the moment it hit my lips all the way to my stomach and even after. It’s a BYOB place so, while you’re out and about, try Stone Villa Wine Cellars as we did and bring along some wine. Note also that they have an outdoor area for service but this wasn’t in play on our visit. We’ll definitely have this one on our list to return.

What a hidden gem! Well maybe hidden for me since I live in Pittsburgh and am not out that way very often. The mushroom soup is a must — it’s very fresh not too heavy like other creamy mushroom soups and uh-mazing. You can tell they use fresh mushrooms and not canned. There were slivers of carrots and celery and the broth wasn’t too thick. I got the cup but would have been able to definitely eat a bowl. For my entrée, I got the crab cake sandwich on a pretzel roll. How can you go wrong with a pretzel roll!!! Umm… you can’t. The crab roll was very fresh and tasty… I wish it had a little zing or spice to it but for the most part, I really enjoyed it. In retrospect, I would’ve gotten the crab cake appetizer b/c the almond cous cous it came on was phenomenal. My husband had the crab cake appetizer while I opted for the sandwich. Although we didn’t get any dessert, it looks fantastic. I would definitely make another trip to this area just to eat at Out of the Fire Café’. It’s byob!

Wonderful place not too far off the highway, stopped in for lunch midway through our road trip, and had a wonderful time. Very friendly and accommodating staff, nice and not too kitch-y décor with nice big windows and a balcony, and of course, great food. I got a Reuben, pretty standard fare, but well put together and not greasy. My mother got the special of a soft-shelled crab sandwich with red cabbage wasabi slaw, and old bay spices on a pretzel bun. We both got truffle fries that were also wonderful, enough truffle to taste, but not drowning in it. Highly recommend to anyone that happens to be in the area.

This place is okay. I think it gets such high reviews because of the lack of decent restaurant options in the resort area. I felt this place was 5 stars when it opened. Quality has suffered as it as grown.

Expertly prepared and selected dishes but you will pay for it. Due to the location you don’t expect to pay that type of price for dinner. One saving grace is the BYOB policy. Luv it! Food was excellent and very tasty. Pricey but at least you are getting good victuals! Atmosphere is nice, but nothing that special.

The food was great. The service was quick. The only thing I found a little troubling was that I was expecting this to be a more upscale but still casual place, with sandwiches around $ 15. This is definitely a $$$ restaurant. Most entrees start at $ 25 and top out at $ 40. I went with a date after a trip to Fallingwater and were alarmed at the prices. I didn’t expect to pay that much. Plus, I was embarassed at how under-dressed we were for the place. But, the scallops were really well done and my date enjoyed his salmon. So food is great, but expect to pay for it.

Well, obviously I’m happy, because they label all the gluten free food on the menu! The service was stellar. The food was EXCELLENT. If you’re planning to stop for food along the interstate, and you don’t want that cedar pizza place, come here. It’s pricey, yes, but the portions are big, and the food is such great quality. Clean bathrooms, clean restaurant, comfy booths, friendly staff, and awesome décor. They also have patio seating with a gorgeous view! Next year, we are absolutely stopping here for dinner on our way to philly!(We travel from Chicago to Philadelphia every summer.) I wish I had known about this place last year!

Like most of the Fallingwater House visitors you might look for a place close-by to have a good meal. Well, this is it! Me and my boyfriend arrive at 7:30 of a Friday evening and the restaurant was packed, but luckily we got a table, with a view of the beautiful Laurel hills. The restaurant is BYOB and luckily we had a bottle of wine in the car. Promptly brought it in, the waitress gave us a bucket with ice. We started our dinner with a cheese plate, really good, with local handmade honey and strawberry jam. Afterwords, I had a delicious braised salmon, with sweet potatoes, hash and beans. My boyfriend a tasty pork lion, with smashed potatoes(a bit too cheesy) and other vegetables. Service was quick and really nice. We recommended, especially if you are then sleeping at the Holiday Inn near by.

Really great find today! Like many others who visit this great little restaurant, we stopped in after visiting Fallingwater today — found the recommendation on Unilocal, and decided to go for it. Just in case you haven’t read it elsewhere, this restaurant is a BYOB restaurant, and does not serve wine, booze, or beer(unless you bring it). There is a beer store close by, and there’s a PA winery store just down the road, but I would not really recommend the wines you can get there — just not my bag, baby! We were not disappointed in the food! This restaurant basically specializes in smoked salmon and their lunch menu has a fantastic assortment of appetizers, soups, and sandwich entrees. Our waiter told us the story of how the restaurant grew from a salmon smokehouse into a great restaurant, so you should ask about that story — it’s a nice detail. We were recommended the cream of mushroom soup, which was velvety smooth, warm, and rich. Absolutely delicious if you are here in the cool weather! We also had their salmon plate, which comes with a delicious cucumber dill salad with capers, chipotle cranberry/pineapple relish, and nice little flatbreads. It was so tasty, we had to order another one! The filet sandwich is an absolutely delicious interpretation of steak and fritters, and they nailed it, right down to the great bread it’s served on. I split a roasted beet salad and the smoked salmon sandwich with my wife, and was very happy with that combination. Their desserts were delicious as well — bananas Foster and chocolate chip cookie a-la-mode were two items that were passed around amongst our party, and we were happy we ordered them! After our meal, we realized that they sell their smoked salmon in vacuum sealed bags for you to take home, so we took advantage of that and loaded up. When we decided to escape to Seven Springs in the future, we will be sure to stop in again! Service was friendly, food was excellent, and overall ambience was comfortable and relaxed. Thanks guys! After having some of our smoked salmon at home — it’s even tastier than what we had in the restaurant! Absolutely the best, tastiest smoked salmon ever created… Would drive an hour on a toll road to pick more up for a special occasion!!!

Love, love, love this place. Hadn’t been here for quite some time and stopped in last weekend. I kicked myself for waiting so long to return. BYOB corking fees are reasonable. $ 3/person and just noticed you can do that with dessert at $ 2 but you’ll not want to…(see below.) Ordered the smoked salmon flatbread. I’ve had their smoked salmon before and it is to die for! The flatbread was equally as good! Tons of capers and just the right amount of cheese. After much deliberation I settled on the duck. Amazing! Breast cooked to your liking and the leg and thigh fell right off the bone. Came with butternut squash sauerkraut and mushrooms(morels, I think… doesn’t matter because they were awesome.) I was going to get the pork osso buco… which I WILL get next time. Saw it come out. I think Fred Flintstone drove it out on his roof. Wow! Friends had walleye special, seafood pasta and mussels and lamb kabobs. No one took a Togo box. I guess we could have put the duck bones, seafood shells and walleye skin if we really wanted… Dessert. Last time had the Crème brûlée. It was awesome. Would have chosen that this time, but was reluctantly swayed to the chocolate gingerbread cake. I say reluctantly because I would normally never choose that or anything over Crème brûlée. Two of us split it and I definitely tried to 60⁄40 split to my advantage. Holy cow! It was warm and all melty and if I could have, I would have crawled right inside of it. Portions are comparable to price and quality of the food. In any sense this is a must visit. You need to make reservations on the weekends definitely but I would do that probably during the week, too.
