We’ve stopped here a few times on our travels down south. It’s a roadside diner, nothing more nothing less but I happen to love places like this! Their broasted chicken is yummy, mashed taters tasted homemade. They also have a little salad bar that warms my heart. The place could be cleaner but just think of it as added charm. Great little restie that foodies won’t like but that’s OK, their loss.

One review not too highly recommended(being kind). Another review(in the Unilocal not recommended listing) from George R heaps praise on the old owners now back running the place again & all is well, everything is good. George R is the owner. And it’s just like it was before(being kind). Probably won’t stay open long the 2nd time around.

I was taught, if you don’t have something good to say, say nothing. So here goes. I had chicken tenders, my husband had pork chops. There was plenty of food, service w as fast. The cole slaw was good and the tea was brewed and good. All I’m sayin’!

We stopped here based on the other review on Unilocal. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. My dinner was pretty average and about what I would expect from a roadside diner. My wife’s, however, was inedible. She ordered breakfast and received rubbery eggs, toast slathered in margarine, and bacon that mysteriously tasted more like artificial bacon bits than real bacon. The food was the best part of our experience there, though. The table was sticky, the menus were sticky and stained, and the bathroom was absolutely filthy. Don’t let your children be tempted by the arcade games in the lobby — they make the tables look clean by comparison. Even the front door was in dire need of a good hosing off. After our son took an ill-advised trip under the table to retrieve a dropped book, my wife’s look of horror prompted the waitress to assure us that the floor had«just been vacuumed today.» The manager and waitress were very understanding, and comped my wife’s meal. If I could give this place 1−½ stars because of that, I would. I simply can’t recommend eating here.

I thought this place was awesome and was so glad that I stopped there. I generally am not one to go to a place until I check now and also somewhat unsure when I see ads for it on the Interstate if it is not a name that I know. I was tempted by this place because they had Fried Chicken in the ad and I wanted it for the last few days but it didn’t fit into my plans. So, I figured that I would drive by and see how the place looks. It looked fine, so I went ahead and placed an order for the ¼ Broasted Chicken Plate. The Chicken was picture perfect and tasted pure and fresh made as opposed to the KFC’s of the world. I also had Mashed Potatoes which was a huge portion and with White Gravy(I’ve always had Brown Gravy). That was really good too. And then I had applesauce and milk(I know but how much soda can one person drink? I had to get my Pepsi Max to keep me awake anyhow for the 3 hours back to Chicagoland.) So, if you are making the drive from St. Louis to Chicago — I think this is a good spot for the ¼ Chicken plate. You can even buy frozen wings to go for $ 5.00 — something I will think about.
