This Giant store location is one of the worst in the area I believe. They have the poorest selection and the rudest staff. The manager I found however was very nice and resolved my issue when I talked to him. Their bakery staff always look like they’re having fun. Their organic section and selection IS very slim-this is not the place to go if you’re looking for these products. They have a very nice produce area with everything available and fresh. The Giant has their own branding of generic products in most every normal food at cheaper rates than name brand. They have the nice rewards program for every $ 100 you spend you get $ 0.10 off a gallon from their gas stations. They have weekly sales which can make things much cheaper than if you went shopping at another grocery store. On a plus note they have multiple registers open to get you in and out fast. If you’re looking for something specific I would not suggest coming here though because they probably won’t have it in stock.

Back when I bought grocery store milk, I noticed my gallon of milk would go bad a day or two near the«sellby date.» Usually store bought milk will last weeks past this date. So I voiced my concerns to management, who had someone look into it. No one called me back, but I did find the dairy manager on my next trip in. He swore up and down they check everything mutliple times a day, and recheck and that nothing could ever go wrong.(side note: never trust someone who vehemently denies something and leaves no room for doubt) Well, after that, the milk stopped going bad. At any rate the store itself is full of self-absorbed unfriendly patrons. They will run their cart into yours, and not make eye contact. If you happen to be a polite human being and apologize(even when it’s not your fault) you still won’t get your presence acknowledged. A local friend says it’s the odd combination of Pa Dutch and Amish cultures. I don’t care what you call it, I call it «rude.» The staff, however, are very helpful. I could walk by a burning building and not see it without help and these folks would be kind enough to show me. Selection is ok, prices are ok. They’re in the midst of a instore remodel, so don’t expect to find the frozen cherries were they were last week, and don’t go looking for them next week in that spot because they’ve moved them again… next to the seafood. Oh, and beware of double parkers in the fire lane.

The first time I spotted this Giant some years back, I said, «Giant? Like Giant back home? Up here?» Uhhh… no…I found out that they’re two totally different chains. In fact, where there is overlap between the Giants in the DC area and this Giant chain, the PA store gets called«Giant Eagle». In fact, there is a «Giant Eagle» in Frederick, MD. Anyway…we’ve stopped into this Giant twice while on our way to other parts of PA. There is also a free-standing McDonald’s in this shopping center and everytime we come across it during our travels up to PA, my husband always wants to stop for something off the dollar menu. I got the idea to check out Giant after our daughter moved to PA and after checking out other supermarkets says that Giant is her favorite. She likes the vast selection of products, their rewards card program and their great sales. This Giant puts our Giants to shame. The stores are bigger and, yes, the selection is far better. My husband was looking for knockwurst and we couldn’t find any in the markets in our area. Our daughter said that the PA Giant sells it. Sure enough, she was right so we picked up some. In addition, the Tasty Kake selection was incredible LOL! After visiting this Giant, it makes me depressed just thinking about our Giants. Well, thankfully, we do have Harris Teeter :). We’ll be stopping in again as this is the first Giant we encounter when we drive to PA — and since the hotel we stay in has a fridge in the room, it’s easy enough to get something perishable and stick it in the cooler for the trip back.

When I have time I prefer to shop at the Camp Hill, PA store. They have a better selection of organic produce. The organic produce at Dillsburg does not have much turnover and tends to rot on the shelves. I do not think anyone notices this.
