Good, cheap food but not the cleanest place in the world. The owner is friendly but the lady behind the counter can be a bit rude, especially when you NICELY ask her to wash her hands and put on gloves when handling your food. Customers should not have to ask servers to practice food safety. I got a steak quesadilla, and a beef burrito all for $ 4 so you cant really beat the price. I would just watch them make your food.

Scooped up some more grub before going to Grandma’s, and I can now speak for the menudo. A must-order. Enjoy it there or take it to go. It didn’t have a lick of grease, was cleaned really well and cured my hangover. Only downsides: didn’t have hominy, and the serving of cilantro, onion and lime was shamefully stingy. The salsa was different this time around. It wasn’t the green avocado-ey kind; but it was still delicioso. The barbacoa was still great, as were the chicharrones. For dessert, I was sure to buy a bunch of the Mexican popsicles(paletas). At two for a dollar, I was able to buy an assortment of flavors. Try the coconut!

I was running errands in the area one morning, and remembered reading a review of this place on Unilocal that mentioned they served tacos here. Having left the house fueled only by coffee and OJ, I was famished. I walked in and immediately noticed how clean the place looked. I saw the area in back where the steam table that held the fillings for the tacos(they also sell tortas and gorditas, which means I will be back to sample those). The lady behind the counter took my order and went to work. I had one pastor and one barbacoa, on corn tortillas, wrapped to go. A sign above said in Spanish that all tacos were dressed with cilantro and onion, which was fine with me. I also opted for the salsa verde, which came in a small container. I went to the register and paid a whopping $ 3.25. Drove home having to deal with my hunger and the smell of those tacos. Self-inflicted torture at it’s finest. I arrived home and opened the package. They had wrapped both tacos together, inside foil and waxed paper. I added the salsa verde and started in. They were great. The pastor had a few strips of cooked onion in with the meat. The meat itself was extremely tender and moist. The barbacoa was the standard barbacoa, very moist and full of flavor. Both tacos had lots of filling. Both were dripping as I ate them, so probably not a good idea to eat them in your car. As a side note, there were a few tables in the store if you want to eat there, and they of course sell beverages. I didn’t really check out the store too much, but it looked like they had some baked goods and pastries available as well.
