This store is closing within a week. Hear there is a sale starting Friday. I liked it because they carry Dave’s bread, Vegenaise and the produce seems a bit better than Albertson’s. And a few brands that Albertson’s and other stores don’t carry.

The only reason I shop here is because the location is so close to where I live. The prices are pretty high and the selection isn’t that great, but they get the job done for the most part. If I have the time I just drive a bit further down Diamond Bar Boulevard to the neighborhood walmart for my groceries. Their bakery section has some really good deals and delicious cakes. HOWEVER, really disgusting, while I was talking to one of the bakers, I saw another employee leave a rotisserie chicken out in the open on the table in front of me. I was speaking to the baker for a good 5 minutes right on top the bare chicken. People were walking past us and I couldn’t help but feel very disgusted that they would just leave that chicken out there with no cover whatsoever. I don’t know if that’s what they normally do, but to me that seems very unsanitary.

Man, what happened to this place? It was always nice when it was Vons — a little generic, but a useful place to shop in a neighborhood without too many options. Now it’s been Haggen for half a year or so and I’m finding it harder and harder to shop there. The prices are generally higher, especially if you want to buy organic. I heard that they treat their employees better than Vons did, which I respect a lot, but all my favorite employees from Vons seem to no longer work there, which sucks. Also, lately they’ve been having issues with stock — that is, having actual groceries in their grocery store. I won’t post the photo just to be nice, but suffice it to say that for a few days the bread aisle looked barren as Siberian arctic tundra. I hope it turns itself around, but right now it’s just more expensive. They’ve also reduced the hours to 6AM-11PM, so if you have the late-night munchies, you might end up shopping at CVS.

I don’t see how Haggen can be saved. Once you price yourself out of the market, people will not return. Haggen blamed it’s mistakes on it’s pricing? If I would have been running the chain, I would have worked 24 hours a day until the pricing was corrected. To be honest, this would have NEVER happened on my watch. Walmart, Von’s, Albertson’s and Smith’s are always checking the competition’s prices. These chain’s are adjusting prices every hour, of everyday. It’s called competition. As for Haggen, they assumed the consumer would not notice. Maybe Haggen can promote the stores as Ghost Towns?. In the end, the store associates are the victims in this Haggen mess.

Shame on you Haggens! My brother worked at Haggens in Diamond Bar, CA and was notified over the phone today that he has lost his job. Violating the most vulnerable community members is not good for Haggens business, which is clearly suffering. Your deserted aisles and exorbitant prices are the manifestation of your poor management, not the victims you have fired! Your cruel decisions and greed are the cause, and firing developmentally disabled people just as the Special Olympics World games conclude in Los Angeles is ironically cruel. In Santa Barbara, a class action law suit is being filed on behalf of 10 – 20 disabled courtesy clerks that have lost their jobs.

Would you like to buy a loaf of non-organic bread that expires in three days for 4.99? Then this is the place for you! They have a good selection of organic stuff but the prices are not exactly good and the expiration dates on the bread(and lack of customers) do not inspire confidence about high turnover. Oh Diamond Bar… my love/hate relationship with you continues. Back to Sprouts we go.

This review is strictly for the bakery department. The gal who helped me out was really nice and sweet. I got a 9 inch fruit tart for my niece’s birthday dinner and it was a steal for $ 14! The fruit tart was loaded with sweet and luscious pieces of fruit: kiwi, strawberries, blackberries, mango, and raspberries. The custard was the perfect amount of sweetness and the tart shell was flaky and buttery. SOOO good and my niece loved it! This will be a staple for parties now! Side note– They give out samples! Every staff I encountered was really nice and courteous.

The butcher in this store needs to go away. Seriously he has a problem. If you can’t cut the meat don’t be a butcher. If something is on sale make sure you put it out. Big attitude problem. I was reading they were having a problem getting customers in the store, I can see why.
