I hear they have new ownership… Either way this place very much pleasantly surprised us. The food was good, reasonably priced and the service excellent. Everybody working there has a smile on their face. Definitely will be back.

A good solid breakfast — nothing fancy or high-​falutin’, but reasonable eggs and toast. I’m not a huge potato-​hash person and found them a bit oily, but I do love some eggs over easy, and Riverview can deliver on that front.
The servers are a bit harried and a bit forgetful, but they’re also well-​intentioned. The windows give you a nice view of any parades going by (and there do seem to be quite a few). The food is solid — but perhaps not worth going far out of your way.

Oh ya! Lots of great food. Some reviews say it’s a new owner. If so they r doing great! Found this on Unilocal.So here we are and they were busy on Sunday but got us rite in. Immediate coffee and tea was served. Had to look at the menu (& Unilocal pix) to see what we wanted he he. Hubby had Greek omelet oh ya. And I had the corned beef skillet with poached eggs. And let me tell u… They were Both delish. I also ordered a side of pita with teziki. Yum their teziki had grated cucumber in it so u had a nice pop of crunch!!! The cook did a poached egg perfectly also (c pix). They owner came around and asked us if we were asked about rice pudding. We said no not yet and we told her maybe we share one. She said oh no I bring one for each! We looked at each other and said OK! She is very nice. She is Albanian and husband from Greece so they know their stuff man. Our waitress came over then and asked us for rice pudding and we said she had been intercepted! Lol. So I figure whatever u order is will be great and a lot of food. Till next time when we are in town.

I’ve been there for breakfast on Sunday twice and have never had to wait for a table. The food came out quickly and it was delicious! The price for value is as good as it gets.

We came in on a Sunday morning and the restaurant was very crowded. After ordering we had to wait over an hour to get our food and tables around us that ordered around the same time or after us finished their food before ours was even brought out. No explanation was given until we asked at check out and were informed that one of their cooks didn’t show up. (Which doesn’t explain why our food came after everyone else’s). Another table checking out after us had the same complaint. The food was nothing special — good but not great and not worth the wait.
I will say that the good was affordable.

We had breakfast at the Riverview Café this morning and it was fabulous in quality and quantity! I had one of the breakfast specials that are good until 11am – 2 eggs, hash browns, 4 sausage links!, and toast for $ 4.50. They offered us a sample of their home made rice pudding but we were too stuffed to try it so they packed us some up to go – no charge! This has to be one of the friendliest restaurants we’ve ever been to with excellent customer service. My only suggestion is to have some tables outside. It is very crowded inside on a Sunday morning.

I was really worried that it would be packed last week on Sunday AM but although they were busy it was efficient. Food is good. Poached eggs on corn beef hash were done perfectly. Take your bikes out to Dexter and stop along the way. Or have a nIce walk on the river afterward.

A wonderful restaurant with great food, especially the Greek dishes. Everyone was super friendly and service was outstanding. We will come back from Texas to go here again. We had the saganaki, chili, gyros and chicken lemon soup and loved every bite!

We had the Riverview Café cater our Dexter Rotary dinner event last night for 50 people and the UNANIMOUS review was that the meal was outstanding — for both the food AND the service. The entrée selection was perfect (filet mignon, chicken, pasta), the sides were done just right, and the desserts were fantastic. The Baklava and rice pudding were a hit. All of this and a very reasonable price makes this a no-​brainer for us to use them again for our next event.

The décor had some miles on it but the food and service were fantastic. We had an inexpensive, hearty breakfast made with good ingredients by good people. Standouts were the country omelet slathered in a sawmill gravy and the corned beef hash made with freshly sliced corned beef (not out of a can).
If you party hard in Dexter than this is the «morning after» meal you need.

Under new ownership for the past few months, Dexter’s Riverview Café has undergone a needed facelift and a new breakfast & lunch menu in its latest incarnation. It has also attracted a boatload of new customers with every table teaming with locals and A-​squared neighbors alike as we walked in on a Sunday morning after riding our bicycles through this scenic small town Michigan.
The location is perfect… right along the main drag of this quaint bedroom community and just a few steps up from Washtenaw County’s Border-​to-​Border Bike Trail.
I’ve dined here under each of the previous owners and am happy to say that today’s visit was a pleasurable experience. Despite the wait… the friendliness and attentiveness of the hostess and wait staff was excellent. Most importantly, the eats were «right there».
I jumped for the Mexican Omelette while others at our table sampled the Spinach Omelette and Cheese Omelete with Chicken. My «Mexican» was filled with green peppers, onions, tomatoes and cheese and was covered with their own zesty chili sauce — sort of like breakfast meets Coney Island… dynamite.
I am throwing the «Riv» the solid five stars based on the strength of the food and the outstanding service. Great job — Glad to see the Café thriving.

I love the food and everything about it the service there treats you like family and they are just so sweet and nice they brighten your day there rice pudding is the best

Best breakfast in Ann Arbor area! We stopped in after church to give the new place a try, and Wow! What a great surprise! I had a breakfast skillet with sausage and potatoes and my husband had one with corn beef, both excellent! The potatoes were ‘real’ potatoes cooked on the spot and the whole dish was excellent. The service was great and the menu was very nice, I highly recommend it! We are guaranteed to be regulars! Dexter really needed this place! A reasonably priced, family-​friendly, restaurant! P. s. Great food and great service. The number on Unilocal (426 2255) currently is incorrect so if you get a ‘this number has been disconnected or is no longer is service’ Unilocal hasn’t updated it yet.

Great breakfast place. Friendly staff, great service, and resonably priced. I am glad to see a breakfast place downtown again.

This place is the basic breakfast diner that Dexter needed. We’ve been there twice, both times the service was phenomenal. Fast, friendly and always smiling. The meals aren’t greasy or too big, they are standard portions — I like that. We’ve had eggs, pancakes, sausage, hash browns, toast & french toast (my favorite), all were prepared well and delicious. We will definitely be back.

Great new eatery in downtown Dexter! Been here twice now and still impressed… the food is fresh and very tasty and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The Greek salad comes in three sizes: mini, small, and large. Ordered the small with chicken and it was a very generous portion! The chicken was freshly grilled and the dressing (made on site) was really tasty! The pita bread was even great! Yum! Breakfast is served all day… just wish they were open for dinner…

Ate here with my mom a few days ago since the location has changed owners again and am GLAD we did! I had the Greek gyro which was delicious! I wanted to eat an entire extra gyro. The salads are great too with what has to be homemade Greek dressing. My mom ordered the rueben sandwich that was also very good, our waiter was helpful, informative and efficient. They serve breakfast all day as well, which I cannot wait to try next time we go. A huge improvement over the last few restaurants there!

We ate breakfast at Dexter’s NEW Restaurant «The Riverview Café» (formerly – Lighthouse, Loreens) today and it was packed. Nothing pretentious about this place, just GOOD home made food, good fast service and fair prices. A nice addition to Dexter’s eateries. They have a full breakfast and lunch menu and the NEW owners have cleaned the place up and removed all the political dogma. Less crowded during the week. Try it, you’ll like it-​we sure did!
