Dewey is one of the smaller Delaware beaches but it still packs a punch. The beach itself is very pretty and peaceful, while the town is itty bitty. There are a few hotels scattered around and plenty of restaurants and bars. There is not nearly as much to see in Dewey as there is in Rehoboth but it’s still nice to check out both.

You can leave a Unilocal review an entire town? Anyway, Dewey’s a wonderful little place. The beaches are clean. There’s a ton of restaurants and bars on the main strip(Coastal Highway), and everyone’s so nice. Tons of things to do. Get a bonfire license for the beach. Take the Jolly Trolley to Rehoboth. Go to the outlets down the way. Eat some great seafood. Only thing is that there’s a noise ordinance after 11, so don’t be a loud jerk. Also kind of dead on weeknights.

Poorly run, small-town-trying-to-be-upscale. The town has that«high school is over» feel. Plenty of teenagers being corralled by a teen aged police force. It’s a mini Ocean City, Maryland. Parking is intentionally tricky. Odd parking meter times make for obvious revenue traps. I’ve never personally had a ticket, but it seems to be the theme of this town. Unless you are a male between 18 – 24 with no girlfriend, go to higher class to Rehoboth, or the more behaved Bethany.

Dewy Beach is a Way of Life. And they have automated parking permit machines here.

The beach at Dewey Beach is dog-friendly. However, depending when in the year, you gotta follow the hours when dogs are allowed on the beach. And, your dog(s) have to be licensed by the city. But, hey, it’s only $ 15 dollars and valid for that dog’s life. Piece of cake! Plus, most dogs are off the leash on the beach. They’re too busy retrieving the toys thrown in the ocean or sniffing other dogs. Unlike Henlopen State Park where dogs MUST be leashed.
