After driving past this spot for months I finally decided to give it a try! Glad I did, the food was excellent! I will definitely be back.

I normally go during lunch hour for the special price of course and same amount of food. In which their food portions are enough to feed at least two people as long as they aren’t trying to go over board. I haven’t dine in — pickup order only which takes about 15 mins. But I will say dining in isn’t bad because there’s also seem to be a few people inside — unfortunately I only see one waitress serving even when there’s a larger groups. As of right now this is my «go to» place for Chinese food — i’m still searching. Please note — this isn’t a romantic place but it’s more like for families and/or something to dine at if you can’t think of anything else to eat. Low prices and good food but not the best. Happy eating…

I’ve been eating here for YEARS, I love their food. Yes, it may be a little dark and may not be a 3,4, or 5 star«looking» Resturant, but the food is the BEST and I’ll always be a fan!

Went there late December 2015 and the place was very dirty and grim! More dirty than I noted before. I would have given that a pass(I’d gone to the bathroom before I got there to avoid their subpar facilities) as the portions are huge. But the deal-breaker this time was the place was cold – LIKETURNONTHEFURNACE — Please! Apparently they’re cutting back on the heating bill, but I wasn’t willing to dine with my winter coat on – zipped up to the neck! So after being seated we left and enjoyed a wonderful Chinese sit down dinner elsewhere(see my other reviews). The food is ok at Sun China but a bit on the bland and pedestrian side. General Taos chicken is not flavored right and the whole set-up with the bullet-proof glass and nasty, filthy carpet is just not an environment I choose to subject myself or guests to. Who knows what is going on in the kitchen — unseen. No thank you. Not going back, not even for a carry out!

Ok so you may ride past this place like I did several times before I tried it. Before asking about it or reading reviews, I always seen this place parking lot packed. So I tried a simple veggie fried rice, perfect! Then I stepped it up and tried a general tso chicken, again perfect. Full of flavor and very fresh. My only complaint is the size of the establishment. I promise you will miss it if you blink.

Hands down, the best Americanized Chinese food I’ve ever had. I absolutely love the crab rangoons, chicken wings, and the general taos chicken. Practically grew up eating these.

No matter where I move too or live within the metro Detroit area I will always only come to this location for Chinese food! The best hands down & trust I’ve had my fair share! The outside isn’t in the best shape but the food is great!

We will avoid this place in the future. The hot and sour soup and the portion sizes were the only good things about our meals. We ordered carry out. The almond chicken had not even a hint of almonds, and the breading was raw and falling off. The soup crackers, egg rolls and the spring rolls were dripping grease. The szechuan chicken was lackluster at best. The sweet and sour chicken was passable, but had no vegetables in it. Hell, even one of our fortune cookies was without a fortune!

I can’t speak regarding anything but the eggrolls, which were awesome. Further investigation is certainly required!

Before I begin my review, let it be known that I have an appreciation for cheap [quality], hole-in-the-wall Chinese food. I did not have unrealistic expectations that this would be authentic, or gourmet fare. With that said, Sun China has the worst takeout I have ever had the displeasure of tasting. The fried rice is soaked in stale soy sauce and lacks any vegetables that ‘fried rice’ traditionally has. The General Tsos sauce did not have flavor, or spice — it was a sugary glue that covered soggy breaded chicken with dry meat. We ordered pork egg rolls and received egg rolls filled with bean sprouts. The filling reeked of the same stale soy sauce they use on the rice. We ordered Crab Macao, and we received cold Crab Rangoon instead. The shrimp toast was filled with real shrimp, but the toast was covered in soggy panko and tasted strange. Everything we ordered was disgusting and looked/tasted like it was old food that did not sell earlier that day. On top of the bad food, the woman at the counter had an attitude problem and acted like we were begging for food when we asked for extra hot sauce packets. Sun China is overpriced, bland and/or nasty tasting Chinese food that no person should check out. You shouldn’t even look at the sign as you drive by, as that is still giving them more attention than they deserve. Gordon Ramsay would vomit at his table and then scream expletives. Yes, it’s that bad. Thank you Sun China for a dinner I will not soon forget… I mean that in every bad way possible!

I have to admit I was very skeptical of this place at first, I passed it for years thinking it was just a hole in the wall the Chinese joint. BOYWAS I AMWRONG! My brother-in-law introduced me to this place and ever since I’ve been hooked. I was surprised to know that his favorite Chinese food joint was only a mile away from my house. Now again the place is not that nice looking on the outside and the inside still resembles a hole in the wall joint but the food was phenomenal. when I eat at restaurants particularly those that specialize in a type of food I have to try the basics before branching off into anything else on the menu. And to me the basics were met and above expectation. The shrimp egg foo young fresh not greasy the gravy was thick and not too thick and the Shrimp fried rice was delicious and don’t get me started on the deliciousness of the sweet-and-sour chicken… phenomenal The restaurant was surprisingly packed when I went inside the phone line was busy when I wanted to call and make an order so I would recommend you probably go in and order first. I like to say as for me this place was great for you in might not be but it’s been a long time since I had a really good Chinese restaurant to call my own. this one has that taken the cake! Or shall I say fortune cookie! LOL

I wasn’t a huge fan. I am very particular about hot and sour soup, and theirs wasn’t even close to up to standard. The crab macao was cold and didn’t taste like it was made fresh at all. The kung pao chicken was okay. They do have huge portions though, so you do get some bang for your buck there.

The next stop on my search for Metro Detroit’s Best General Tso’s landed me a recommendation for Sun China. From the outside it’s not much to look at and the inside isn’t much of an improvement except for the bulletproof window carousel which is a conversation starter for first timers such as myself. Joe V. and I walked in and grabbed a booth and our server was right on queue. She took both our orders for their General Toa’s(they don’t call it Tso’s here) and asked for it as spicy hot as they could make it, with wonton soup. The soup was a quick arrival with its broth that was a deeper stock color than the norm and the flavor was right up there. The wonton itself was a little tough but it had a meaty filling in it. Overall I liked it and I finished the bowl! They also brought out those ridiculously addictive fried egg rolI snacker things that are like crack to add to the soup… that’s always an added touch and appreciated at that. I had ordered white rice with my lunch combo but she brought me fried which was very good in my opinion(later and kindly apologetic she brought me a separate bowl of white rice on the side). The egg roll was filled with sprouts which I’m not a fan of… cabbage egg rolls are always the more premium of the two in my opinion so I didn’t finish it, but the hot mustard they brought to the table was a nice addition since it wasn’t in those packets, and it was chilled from fridging. The Tao’s was so-so for the sweeter variety. Oddly, there was no broccoli served alongside it per usual. The chicken was good quality white meat and it was deep fried crispy with a fairly thick bread on it. The sauce was really sweet and despite asking for it to be super spicy we didn’t get a hint of heat at all. Sadly the Tso’s was a bust here, for me anyway… sorry Maureen but I gave it a shot. However portions are large, prices are cheap and the service was top notch, they have that covered in spades… the fruit flies hovering threw off lunch a little but overall it was OK enough.

I echo most of Joe B.‘s sentiments. The service was great. The waitress was very friendly and prompt. The portions were large and the prices cheap. Asking for as spicy as you can make it and having it come out completely sweet with absolutely no spice at all was a huge disappointment. The General’s Chicken actual chicken was overly breaded. Super sweet… and very similar to sweet and sour chicken with just a different(but equally sweet) sauce. The fried rice was average. The wanton soup was average. Only two wontons in the bowl though. Very little meat in the wanton and pretty much all dough. I don’t know if they have hot and sour soup or not, but it didn’t appear on the lunch menu. The egg roll has sprouts in it(not my favorite) and spring rolls are not an option. There were fruit flies hovering. The bulletproof glass is a little unsettling, but understandable. I really wanted to like this place. I swear. I just didn’t. And Telegraph and 6 Mile is a bit far for me to go snag Chinese food that doesn’t suit my tastes. Won’t be back.

I have been a customer of Sun China for a 16 years. The staff is abrupt, However the food is excellent. This is Americanized Chinese Food at its finest. I usually have the General Tao Chicken when I eat there. But the Shrimp egg foo young is awesome as well. If you are look for a BETTER place to dine verse a mini mall Monstrosity… Try them… I must warn you they are not the friendliest… But they are good…

Don’t let the exterior fool you, this restaurant is packing serious Chinese deliciousness! I was searching for someone who could prepare my favorite dish, Shrimp in Lobster Sauce, after our local restaurant closed down. For years, I had no success, that is until I was introduced to Sun China. I always call ahead and place my order, and it’s always ready in the time promised. When I get home, I usually lick the plate clean before finally accepting that it’s all gone :) Give this place a try! You’ll love it!

We usually get take out at work on Fridays, and when we do Chinese it’s usually Sun China. It’s pretty good for take out Chinese — I wouldn’t travel for it — but when in the neighborhood it’s the best of the rest. Their shrimp fried rice is a standout. The shrimp aren’t the small microscopic specimens that most take out places try to pass off as shrimp, but good sized little critters indeed! The sweet and sour chicken is very good — much better than the pork. Sesame Chicken is good and the beef Lo Mein is as well. I got that today and it was loaded with veggies as well as beef. The portions are fairly big too so either prepare to eat a bunch or to have left overs.

Don’t let the exterior fool you. It looks a bit run down, even closed for business. I’m not even sure they have a lot of dine in business. We always get carry out and every time we go, the parking lot is packed w/customers picking up their orders. The General Tao’s Chicken is our all-time favorite. I wish I had a bigger stomach so that I could eat more. There is so much food, we only order one dinner and we get 4 meals out of it very easily. The egg rolls and fried rice are also very good. The only downside is that the parking lot is very small and narrow, making it difficult to maneuver when there are several cars.
