Starter’s Bar & Grill

Not bad for being in the Hood. But if only I was stuck in that same area would I really care to eat there again. It’s nothing special and didn’t make me say wow this is really good to anything.

This is definitely a local spot. I went with friends and ordered the special which was a mix grill. Beef, chicken & shrimp skewers for 12.99. It came with a salad and a side. It was also served with pita bread. The food was good. My girlfriend ordered the stuff salmon-​it was DELICIOUS! I was shocked. My other girlfriend ordered the steak & shrimp. She wasn’t too impressed. I gave this place 4 stars because of the AMOUNT & taste of food given. The service was not that great. This place is in the hood! So if you are looking for a great amount of food and can handle people selling purses and oils as you walk into the restaurant this is your spot! If you do go and like seafood order the stuffed salmon you won’t be disappointed! Remember pack your patients :-)

I’m a starters fan. When all others, fail starters has came through for me on date nite but lately I’m not seeing the love from the cook. Sending back plates ain’t something I have had to do with starters. 11/​21/​2013 sent plate back not once but twice and my husbands cook to order steak also came out COLD and when sent back and recooked raw. Would’ve loved to enjoy my food (hungry as he’ll) but instead had to order a few drinks and leave cause the manager Moe made me feel soooooooo uncomfortable a about ordering anything I can’t c made. Starters is and always will b my joint for date nite but looking for new things cause Starters has fell from the the 5 star status I would give them.

i love the salmon& chicken cesar salad, 9 times out of 10 that’s what I’m ordering. Cool atmosphere to chill with friends or a date. Dont forget your patron shots now!

Looking for a good atmosphere to go? Starters is it! Great food and great service. If its not right, they go out their way to make it right.

The food is okay and you get a decent size plate. The alfredo sauce is not the best and I would suggest ordering a burger. It is not a large bar, but the booths are comfortable. The service is mediocre and I WOULD NOT recommend going after dark on the weekend. I went to Starter’s and we came out just as a young lady was getting robbed. What is the point of security if your patrons are going to get robbed when you leave? Not on my list of places to visit again. It is a bit overrated and more of a hang out for those just turning 21.

Interesting people watching at Starters. I’m a fan for that reason alone. Aside from that my drink was huge and just about knocked me on my ass. Now I did think some of the menu items could have been a bit cheaper, but as I watched the heaping mounds of food come out of the kitchen I understood. As we ate a gentleman sat down next to my friend and started talking. I thought it was just some random guy till she introduced us. Turns out it was the owner/​owners son or something like that can’t remember which, but I know his name is Mike. Somehow Slows BBQ came up and he had just read my review THAT DAY. We had a few giggles about that and other random banter. Really nice guy. My friend later told me that he took really good care of DPS teachers when they were on strike, so I’m a fan for that reason too. Nothing worse than spending your money in an establishment run by assholes. You won’t find that here. I can’t remember the bartenders names, but they were great too, especially the older gentleman. I’ll definitely come back to this location when I’m in town. My only complaint is that fries didn’t come with my burger. C’MON MIKE!!!

Ok. So this was my second time visiting this establishment. After an above average review, I must say that whom ever is in the kitchen is not putting it down. I was disappointed after ordering the chicken parmesan. Wayy too many noodles and the fettucine sauce tasted like it came straight out of the bottle from your local grocery store… no flavor. Needless to say, I had to seperate the noodles and drown them in salt/​pepper and garlic powder to taste them. Other than my dissatisfaction with my entre’ the other aspects of the business remains the same. Nice wait staff, great for brunch and happy hour. But as for the food, choose wisely.
