Lou’s is Detroit awesomeness. Yes, the area looks suspect but it’s safe and there’s free parking. The inside probably hasn’t been updated since opened 50 years ago but it’s clean with plenty of seating. The menu is quite overwhelming and behind bullet proof glass like most of the inner city establishments unfortunately. There are 41 deli sandwiches! This isn’t including wings, soups, burgers, salads and dinners. Fortunately the staff is super helpful. I asked for a half corn beef half pastrami sandwich and the cashier immediately shouted out«#39!» At her recommendation I got it grilled with Russian dressing. Ummm ummm ummm, it was melt in your mouth good! Lou’s doesn’t have the biggest sandwiches, that honor goes to The Bread Basket. But the meat is tender, juicy and seasoned to perfection. Lou’s sandwiches are filling enough to be a meal without adding any sides and they have the best corn beef in the city in my opinion. Lou’s is open late, I mean 1:30 am Monday through Thursday and till 3:30 am on weekends kind of late. They’re open until 9pm on Sundays so stop on by!

Always a great sandwich! ALWAYS. I crave this place. Over 10 years of consistency. What more can you ask for. I’m not gonna wast your time or my time explaining anything else about the place… Except I prefer this location over the rest. My absolute faves are the Deli Burger, Dinty Moore on onion roll and just a plain corned beef sandwich with Swiss and mustard. Never too much fat, or not enough meat, or too salty always(like some places) great flavor, that’s greatly prepared. I usually stuff myself with just one sandwich. I can not imagine my life without this place. THEEEEND!

Lou’s is my first stop every time I visit the«D». I always get the countermans treat on an onion roll which is absolutely amazing. The digs are nothing fancy, but the sandwiches are are must get when in Detroit. Lou’s Deli is a favorite for native Detroiters and visitors alike.

I will admit ahead of time, I am biased towards this place. There is two sandwich places I grew up on: bread basket and Lou’s deli. My aunt used to work there so spent many days there just eating up stuff, so this place does have a special place in my heart. So I recently came here before I had a concert to go to and let’s just say something’s never change. I had me a corned beef on onion roll(the only way you can do a corned beef sandwich at Lou’s in my opinion). And it was just great as it always is. Also had other items here: fries(good, a poor man red robin fries), wings(good, but nowhere near great), strawberry shortcake(really good). Overall Lou’s deli is the best in the city of Detroit(especially since mr. fofo is gone) and the only real rival in the metro area is bread basket. So if your in Detroit and want a sandwich, then Lou’s is your place.

I love Lou’s Deli, I have been a customer since my parents came here back in the days. They have updated it but all in all the food is the same, top shelf.

Just ordered a Counterman’s Treat and it is just as I remembered it from my childhood! Oh the memories! I remember loosing a tooth in a Lou’s sandwich as a kid. There are two other locations. But the original location on McNichols(6 Mile) is the best! I also love their hot salami on rye!

Loved this place since I was a child. I still eat the Roselawn Special. Named after a westside street and holds down my taste buds with corned beef, cole slaw, and russian dressing. Plan to spend $ 15 for a meal as a sandwich can run you almost $ 10 when you add on onion roll(you will want onion roll). I like that they are open late hours. My family likes the deviled eggs and I have to grab some onion rings when I am in the mood for something greasy.

This place is a Detroit staple. Some of the best sandwiches around. I moved away from the city for 20 years and just came back. Lou’s sandwiches are just as I remember them, fresh, piled high and served on a sweet, sweet onion roll. If you love a good sandwich, treat yourself to some of the best. The prices seem a steep for sandwiches, but take one bite and you’ll realize that you got what you paid for — quality, fresh food. My mouth is watering just writing this review. Love ya Lou’s!

The #4, Dinty Moore with cheese was delicious. Corned beef, lightly toasted bread, dressing, cheese and wonderful slaw makes it a heavy glob of goodness. If you like heavy on the meat, light on the bread Lou’s is your spot. Lots of homemade sides as well. Prices aren’t cheap at this good independent shop.

Nothing bad to say about this place @ all. Best sandwich in town. You can’t gop wrong with anything, it all depends on your palate. Myself, for the past decade +, my fam and I have been patronizing Lou’s I alway get the«David’s drip» on an onion roll. I always get the onion roll, well sometimes I get the rye, depending on the sandwich, but you can’t go wrong. Nice and fluffy, tasty, and the fries are great with that sandwich, throw on a li’ ketchup, and man, you’re in business. If you smash the whole sadwich you’re probably going to be out of commission for a hot minute as well, but that comes with the territory. lol . One more thing, the cakes, I haven’t had one in awhile, cause I’m not a big cake eater, but my moms, and sister wold always get them, and I would steal a taste, and yea, they’re good af. lol.

Didn’t go get our sandwiches there we had them ordered from here since we couldn’t leave our location or hotel but these sandwiches are amazing! I ordered the Pastrami on a wheat roll with everything on it and my friends ordered Corn Beef & Turkey sandwiches and WOW! We were told that when your in Detroit you have to eat sandwiches from Lou’s Deli’s.Now i know why. they add Cole slaw and make sure you add Swiss cheese on a onion roll if you get the it with the Corn beef.

Best darn corned beef sandwich you will ever eat. A diamond in the heart of the ghetto, who would have thought! I’ve been eating here for over 20 years. Quality and taste have never changed once! The sandwiches are consistently good. I always get the counterman’s treat: lean corned beef, russian dressing, sweet cole slaw, swiss cheese on an onion roll. Timeless! French fries and cake slices are also really good. Cake slices are huge and cheap.

I have lived in 22 cities. I’ve eaten sandwiches when i was there. Lou’s version of the Sara Kinder is the best deli sandwich I have ever eaten. Maybe it’s the U of D or the ‘hood experience that brings me back to my punked out early ’80’s with The Attitudes and Figures On The Beach blasting out of my ’79 Escort’s blown speakers, but I love that sandwich. There’s a oyster loaf at Casamento’s in New Orleans that had my tummy swayed for a few years, but no, Lou’s Sara Kinder is still my favorite sandwich. I travel home to Detroit a couple times a year. I can’t wait to get back, just four months from now, sweet Sara, you will be in my arms(the sandwich is that big)…

So for some reason, Detroit is like a big spot for getting Corned Beef sandwiches. Its like their«thing» that nobody really realizes until you live there, or visit for a long period of time. Amazingly Lou’s Deli, placed right in the middle of the hood, has some of the best corned beef sandwiches that I have ever had(not that i have had a lot, but you get what i am saying). During my last trip to Detroit, I actually forgot to stop by this place. Shame on me, because these damn sandwiches that they serve are amazing. A tad bit more expensive than Id like to pay, but when you get home and bite into these sandwiches stacked a mile high, you will understand exactly what I am saying. I am a huge fan of this place and its been around forever! Definitely believe they arent going anywhere…

I don’t even like corn beef, but I eat Lou’s Deli Corn beef Sandwiches. That’s how good it is. There are a few locations, but I grew up walking to this Lou’s Deli all throughout elementary and middle school. Just a regular deli in the neighborhood, no thrills or anything like that. The sandwiches are awesome and huge! You can get a sandwich combo for roughly $ 8-$ 10 dollars, and its definitely worth it. Another good thing about Lou’s is that they stay open late… so if you ever have mid-night munchies, Lou’s can take care of you!
