Went there for lunch takeout. Got there at 12:30, and wasn’t a line. Food was ready in under five minutes, and it was a very good meal. Ordered the 3 taco(marinated pork soft shell) lunch plate with rice and beans, and hot salsa. One of the best tacos I’ve ever had. Tacos stayed within the norm(lettuce, cheese, tomato), but excelled in every aspect of it. Will be back soon. If you work in Dearborn, great quick lunch option.

The giant chicken burrito is awesome! Couple that with a side of whole beans you’ll leave happy and stuffed. Love this place!

Great. Great. Great. Mexican food as it should be. Super friendly people, and tasty food. My 7-year old ate himself into a food coma. Will return …

A little«hole in the wall» that offers excellent, cheap and fast Mexican lunch specials. I went with the beef burritos which were delicious. Their salsa is fresh and tasty. It is chunky and not watered down like with many Mexican restaurants’ salsa. La Salsa is one of those places you are glad you stumbled across.

This place is great! The food is delicious and the prices are good. I’ve been 3 times so far and plan to definitely keep visiting. I usually get a few tacos with various meats on corn tortillas. So far everything has been delicious. What I really loved is the Al pastor and the Lengua though. The tacos also come with a side of grilled onions and pepper! A few weeks ago I was attending a potluck at a friends house and stopped at La Salsa to pick up some chips and guacamole to bring, this turned out to be a great idea. Not only did everyone love the guacamole but the portion size was huge and cost a fraction of what the same amount would cost from any super market.

Hidden gem has awesome food and good prices. Never had anything that wasn’t really good. Better than any chain or «big,» Mexican place around. 4 taco lunch special [try the pastor] or chicken fajitas are awesome!

I LOVE this place. We always get carryout and it’s always the chopped steak tacos in the soft corn shell. basically it’s a soft, fresh made corn shell with finely chopped steak, cilantro and cooked onion. No cheese, no sauce. It comes with limes to squeeze on, that with a few drippings of their salsa(I like the hot, my husband likes the mild) is awesome. I was going to give them three stars because, for a while, they went from their homemade corn chips to store bought(like Tostitos) and they didn’t go with the homemade salsa very well, but they switched back to their homemade corn chips which are better than any I’ve had in Mexican Town or anywhere else.

Awesome food, really fast, and cheap! I would go here again without hesitation. The guacamole was fresh and a little chunky. The salsa was really tasty too– a touch spicy in a good way. I had the taco lunch, one with grilled steak, one with fried pork, and another with spicy pork recommended by the waitress which was incredible.

Great, Cheap, authentic Mexican food. Everything is good, the Taco’s Al Pastor are outstanding. And the lunch specials are cheap and great. I get their Take Out Taco special and have them keep all the parts separate, then make the tacos at home. Get the Whole Beans!

The name changed a while back, it’s La Salsa now. Same phone number, same menu, and still very good food at a good price. The service is always good too. If you’re in the area I’d suggest trying it.

This place was recommended by a coworker who said it’s a regular in the lunch rotation of those who venture out often. The service was very friendly. It made me feel as though I were in Mexico again. I got the chicken enchiladas with rice and beans. They offer either refried or whole beans and I went with the refried. The rice was a bit dry for my taste and the beans were perfectly acceptable but nothing special. I enjoyed the enchiladas. The red sauce had something of a smoky flavor which was nice. My husband got the super burrito with beef which essentially has everything(rice, beans, beef, cheese) stuffed inside. He said it was good, but had it been mine I would’ve wanted some sort of sauce. Another reviewer mentioned that the prices were a tad higher than other places, but I can’t even imagine that. Our bill was $ 8.50 — essentially $ 4.00 a piece. Can you even get lunch at crappy Taco Bell for that? So, given the price point I’d say it’s a steal.

I went to get powerplany tacos as my coworkers put it because it is located directly across from a powerplant lol. You walk in and the place is less than a minute big having about 10 – 12 tables max. It definitely isn’t a place to linger and is definitely a hole in the wall taco place almost like I’ve been transported back to Mexico… lil restaurant outside a dusty road surround by a plant… sounds like the desert in Mexico to me when I was working down there… but I digress. We all got the grilled steak tacos aka carne asada tacos in corn tortillas. those were excellent with a bit of salsad and guac on top. The meat was seasoned very well and you could taste the juiciness of the meat. They came with a side rice and beans & grilled jalapenos and onions. These tacos taste way better than Mi Peublos IMO… The guacamole was just regular tasting to me, nothing to rave about. and definitely better at Mi Peublos. The chips were freshly made in house and were very tasty as well with a few sprinkles of salt to give some flavor. I had a tamarind soda to top it all off and… now I’m full sitting here writing this review on powerplant tacos lol.

Great. They have lunga(tongue) tacos! juicyyyyyy!!! they also have the typical grilled steak, chicken, pork, all that good stuff. get the lunch special for 3 tacos with beans and rice for 7.99, which is a pretty sweet deal. the tacos are in the larger side as you can see from the pictures. they have mexican sodas, as well as horchatas and mexican coke. basically everything to keep the experience authentic.

Authentic Mexican food. Whole beans, horchata & salsa verde are great. Not your typical Mexican American food.

This is likely one of the best Mexican places in metro Detroit. So to see so few reviews on here must mean not many Unilocalers have been brave enough to visit a tasty taqueria in an industrial area. C’mon people! Yes, the fumes of the Rouge are all too close. But that will not interfere with your tastebuds or your dining experience here. AND your tummy will definitely leave this place very, very happy. One of my co-workers introduced me to Taqueria Mi Tierra about a year ago and it’s on our Friday-lunch short-list(my work group probably comes here about once a month). My apologies to the restaurant owners for taking so long to write a review. Mi Tierra’s food is super fresh and has great flavor(not bland like many traditional Mexican food restaurants and not overly spiced or smothered in oily cheese like those authentic-Mexican-wannabes). I’d say most weeks a majority of the table orders the shredded chicken tacos. The chicken is tender, never greasy, and seems to melt in your mouth, the corn tortillas are expertly steamed, and the smoky grilled onions and jalapeño served on the side are great condiments. Plus they’ll add plenty of fresh cilantro and a hunk of lime if you ask. So good! Across from the Rouge and at the outskirts of Melvindale, this might seem a slightly shady location. But this tiny hole-in-the-wall is well worth the visit. They used to accept credit cards but are now encouraging cash transactions to keep their prices down. But with $ 5.99 lunch specials(or a $ 3.99 two enchiladas w/rice and beans special like I had today), surely you’ll have enough cash in your pocket. I generally have the three taco or two enchilada lunch special –or– settle on some super tasty huevos rancheros. Portions are just the right amount for lunch and always leave me feeling perfectly satisfied.

I just have to get on and rave about my FAVORITE Mexican place to try and make up for the 1 star review someone posted. Unlike that reviewer, the chimis are my favorite dish. The fried tortilla shells are so crispy and delicious they never spend more than a minute or two on my plate. The true blessing of this place is the«Whole Beans» or frijoles charros that they serve. Whole pinto beans cooked with tomato, cilantro, onion, bacon and Jalapenos. They have more«flavor» than any refrieds you’ve ever had. They taste like they were cooked over a wood fire! The 3 taco lunch is a great meal and their salsas are great. They serve 3 with every meal(traditional red, hotter chipotle, and avocado). I go when ever I have a chance. The only thing that would bring this down to a 4 star is the environment which is decidedly«hole in the wall».

Another tiny hole in the wall on the cross section of Oakwood and Dix. This place dishes out nice tacos and other Mexican favorites similar to the Mi Pueblo’s and Los Altos. They have all the usual suspects from carnitas, al pastor, chorizo, etc… Prices feel slightly higher than the other places, but still super cheap. Salsa’s are also full flavored. update: Al pastor tacos come out super fast and piping hot. A bit more meat and less topping, but very very good. They had a specific salsa to use with the taco, but it really didn’t need it. Food Coma time…
