I came here for a birthday party on a Friday, before it transitioned into a «party/lounge» atmosphere. The décor is simply breathtaking. I ordered sushi, and some of my friends ordered lamb and some sort of chicken dish. We also ordered some mixed drinks, which were pretty overpriced based on the amount of alcohol that is in the drink. As far as the sushi goes, I found it to be VERY delicious and expertly prepared. My friends also seemed to enjoy their non-sushi meals as well. The reason I’m giving is 4 stars as opposed to 5 is because of the overpriced drinks and simply average service. Our server was pretty attentive, but wasn’t very engaging or pleasant. All in all, I would return again in the future.

This is a nice and sexy place to go to chill have some good overpriced drinks and sushi. The décor is really nice. There is a nice fire wall in the center and a lot of booths and couches. I read a lot of reviews that say they weren’t able to sit down without getting bottle service but we didn’t have that issue. We came in and sat right down next to the fire. If we did have to get bottle service, we would have left. I REFUSE to pay $ 200 for a fifth of liquor that is $ 35 at the liquor store. ABSOLUTELYNOT! We got there around 9 or 10PM on a Friday and it was pretty much empty which was a SHOCKER! But it got busier the longer we stayed. The music was hip hop, R&B and rap. The sushi was really good(I recommend the Michigan Roll), and the drinks were strong. The crowd is diverse and everyone comes dressed to impress. The only complaint I have about this place is the server we had. She seemed very uninterested and cold. She brought us our bill after ordered our sushi and one round of drinks. We had to keep telling her to add drinks to our bill because we weren’t done ordering. which seemed to be making her mad. People don’t order one round of drinks and thats it. Wait until we ask for our bill!

The quality of the sushi is simply amazing for Michigan. Some of the best rolls you can get in area. Try the baked Alaskan roll if you like spicy rolls. It’s a shame more people don’t know about this place.

We went here for my cousin’s birthday on a night they give ballroom dancing lessons. There was a $ 5 cover, which I didn’t mind because the lessons were actually pretty good if you’re a beginner like me. A more experienced ballroom dancer would probably be bored though. The drinks were over-priced(but you expect that at a nightclub). The one thing I didn’t expect was way over-priced sushi and bad service. I ordered the Michigan Roll which is 8 pieces for $ 14. The waitress brought me 6 pieces. When I questioned her about it and showed her the menu said 8 pieces, she told me that the chef just cut the pieces bigger. I kindly requested that I get the other 2 pieces I paid $ 14 for. The only reason I didn’t give this place a horrible rating is because the sushi was actually pretty good — I paid way too much and had to protest in order to get all of it… but I can’t deny that it was good.

I came here for my work’s holiday party and it was nice! I didn’t try any of the food they had, so I can’t weigh in on that, unfortunately. But my experience here was a good one. The look and feel of this location just does something. I don’t know whether it’s the sleek design of everything, or just how gosh darn trendy the whole place seems to be, or if it’s just because of how high up and detatched it is from the casino, but it’s good. We rented the whole space so I didn’t encounter the problems that the rest of the reviewers did. The seating areas were great and I do want to come back here to eat sometime and catch the saturday night crowd. The drinks were tasty and the service was good enough. No complaints here.

I paid 20 bucks for cover whaaaat? This place is okay. There’s fire in the lounge area all around which is kind of cool. And a sushi bar. Music was mediocre. You have to get bottle service to sit I think. Or make friends with people in a booth. I opted for the latter.

NEVER, EVER, EATHERE! We had dinner reservations for 12 that we set up two weeks prior. When we arrive they did not have our table set up, and it took them 20 minutes to find chairs to fit in the undersized room they had us in. Ordering food was a JOKE! WE all ordered appitizers and sushi and some showed up and some did not. Appetizer(edamame which is simple) arrived after some food. All the plates arrived at different times — like 20 – 30 minutes apart, and some not at all. When we asked our waitress, she said, «its not my fault, you need to talk to the kithcen about that — I just put the orders in.» It took in some cases 1.5 hours to get some sushi, and the place was dead? Also, some people couldn’t get what they wanted because the grill was broken. For how high end this place tries to be, the service is worst than McDonalds, and that’s being mean to McDonalds making that comparison. They need to implement a customer handling training program or something, becasue it appears as if no one knows what the heck is going on. I would never recommend this place as a spot to eat — and it’s a $ 50-$ 75 a plate place. Also, getting the manager involved only made it worse! Absoulte JOKE!!!

Loved this place. We joined friends of ours for dinner. We arrived at 800PM on a Friday night and there was practically nobody there, so we got some prime seating right next to the cool wall of fire. The atmosphere here was very modern and laid back. Food was awesome, service was very attentive. Love this place, total hidden gem.

One of my most favorite clubs in Detroit. It’s décor is super sleek and sexy. The dj plays most most popular hip hop, r&b and mainstream rap. If you get there early enough, you may be lucky to find a place to sit. Unfortunately, the only seating areas with line of sight to the dance floor area VIP sections priced at a starting point of $ 250 for a max of 5 people. The crowd is relatively diverse and well dressed. One tip: don’t wear a sweater or too many layers. The place gets packed an has real fire pits throughout that are hot… literally. I have never eaten there.

The atmosphere was pretty nice. I got seaweed salad and just a Philadelphia roll. The seaweed salad was good, but the sushi was just ok. I’ve actually had better at Kroger!

Went here with a girlfriend. We walked in, and awkwardly stood around waiting for someone to seat us. No one came, so we just found a couch. The furniture appeared well-used. Our waitress came by, we ordered some cocktails. They were good. The sushi was less than impressive. The rolls were covered with way, way too much sauce. The portions were decent sized. The salmon and hamachi was pretty good. BUT…there were so many fruit flies buzzing around. We had to wave them away every few minutes, even before our food got there. Yuck, gross I hate fruit flies. Totally turned me off. I will not go back here for sushi.

Ignite has the atmosphere of a upscale venue with the prices to match. There is a $ 10 minimum cover charge and there is NO sitting unless you reserve a booth and get bottle service. I’m not inclined to pay $ 200+ for a fifth of liquor thats $ 30 at the local store. But I guess it’s the appearance of having a table in the elite nightclub. To me it is overrated as right across the hall(literally) is a room filled with heavy gamblers playing high stake games. The drinks are okay, but a martini is darn near $ 12. If you do go try the Ignite martini very powerful stuff. The service is slow. They have a SMALL sushi bar that you can order from, but don’t think you are going to sit there without buying something. The men in black will come and escort you away. Lol seriously! The bar is in the center of the floor and that’s where most people gather(since there are no seats without bottle service). The men adhere to a dress code and I swear I felt like there were John Legend and Kanye wannabe’s there. Who wears dark sunglasses in the winter and the lighting is already dime. In regards to music: Ignite plays hip hop on Saturdays while V plays more pop music. Fridays it is switched between the two clubs. There is no real dance floor: it’s like a 4×4 cell space. Otherwise people dance in the middle of the hardwood floor between the booths. Not a spot to go if you are really trying to party and club as most people are drinking at the bar or «people watching.» TIP: GOEARLY! If you get there after 11pm you will wait in a line 50+ people long and you may not get in. I was surprised at how long the wait was. When I got in I was like wth this place is small and not a typical chill spot. If you are not a smoker bypass this place all together. You have to go through the casino to get to Ignite(it’s on an upper level) and the place is FILLED with smoke(only spot in MI were smokers rule). I liked to have died with all the 2nd hand smoke that I inhaled. I don’t do clubs often and definitely wouldn’t put this on the return list if I had the urge. I suggest going to a dive bar in the area and save your good clothes for something else.

It’s truly an OK place… I was attending a celebrate DJ performance which than the cover charge raised. :( There isn’t really anywhere to sit unless you are VIP and it’s crazy hot inside once everyone starts to come. Stage is very small — when the cover charge is FREE, then i might be the best time to attend. I would be dis-satifisied if I paid for an event. Attend and get it over with — but the place is set up very nice. For the ladies — try to put some flats in your purse. For the guys — it’s a dress code and they won’t allow hats or boots/gym shoes. You will get rejected!!!

Club Ignite is one of my favorite places for Sushi in Detroit. When I want a full Japanese menu you will find me at Yotsuba’s on Orchard Lake(my other favorite). The Sushi chef Jay is very personable and a professional. The sushi rolls are generally larger than most places, but you pay for it. Hopefully MGM will bring back the ½ off Sushi happy hour. Back to the Sushi, the best hand rolls I’ve ever had, You must try the Ignite Roll(fork required) full of flavor and a little heat. They also have great lamb chops from the grill(Jack, grill chef) The service is good(Jessica & Samantha) and they are willing to accommodate special requests. This is one of the stops I make when I’m entertaining out of town guests or want a drink and quick bite in a cozy atmosphere. I rate them 4 ½ stars because of the limited menu. Even though I’ve been a regular patron for over 2 years, I sometimes forget that Ignite is a Club/Bar with very good Sushi. It’s not a restaurant,

I will start with the good. The Lobster Satay was insanely good. Very inventive and might tasty. The Sushi was ok, not much selection and tastes like Kroger Sushi. They have Japanese beer on the Menu, however for some reason they no longer carry it and only have domestics. The service has got to be the worst I have experienced at any restaurant in Detroit. When you are paying around 50 $ a head with drinks you would expect a modicum of service. They were all nice, but all three people who served us were so clueless I was flabergasted. The acted like TSA screeners at an airport. I would NEVER go back

My friend had her birthday dinner here and it was great! The ambiance was perfect. The only thing that I would have changed would be to have more table space for the sushi they serve. We went thinking that it would be a place that we could have dinner and, for those who drink, could also enjoy some cocktails. Having 8 – 10 people crowding around two small coffee tables was not the most ideal place to have dinner. The service was wonderful as the waitress was very attentive and willing to work with our large party. The sushi was also good. I had the shrimp tempura roll and the spicy tuna roll. I also tried the LA roll and the Ignite special roll. I would recommend both the LA roll and the shrimp tempura rolls. They were very yummy. The ignite roll was drenched in spicy mayo and it drowned out the actual flavor of the sushi. Although, a bit pricey, I would definitely go back for the ambiance!

I had the opportunity to check out Ignite on a tour of the casino and then an actual visit when my friend threw a party here. I enjoy any atmosphere that is rich in décor and people who are ready to party. The only aspect I dislike about all of the clubs in the casino is the music. It’s usually pretty terrible. It’s usually some sort of mix with house, techno and maybe some rap(not hip hop). So it always bums me out when I come here hyped to party only to pass the night away forcing myself to enjoy the music. I highly recommend this club for just about any event you can come up with. The livest nights are Friday and Saturday BUT there is usually a private event being held here. Get on the mailing list for Ignite and you’ll receive the emails.

My friend had a going away party here last weekend. It was my first time going to MGM, so I wanted to make it out for both reasons. I got there a little late(around 1am) and it was extremely packed! True enough, half of the people there were for her but I was definitely surprised at how it was booming! The layout of the lounge is pretty nice too. Lots of seating areas around the place, like mini-couches and comfy chairs. There is the main rectangular bar sort of in the center. There was also another room off to the left that I didn’t venture into because it appeared to be another«private» party there. It was plenty of room to dance around a bit… although I must say the music was not that great. I am unsure whether it was a real DJ or not, but I was not too impressed. Thank God for silly friends around, because we pretty much made the best of the night. Another bonus that night was that there was no cover. Not sure if that is every night or not…

Ignite is a pretty cool lounge upstairs in the new MGM Grand Detroit next to the poker room. It has a chilled, laid-back vibe. The centerpiece of the décor is — appropriately enough — a glass-enclosed fireplace. After getting shellacked on the blackjack tables, we came up here for a drink before heading back home. The service at the bar was a little bit slow, but they had a great selection of booze and the prices were reasonable for a casino lounge.
