Best vanilla latte I’ve had by far! 10⁄10 would recommend The atmosphere is great, the food looked delicious and it’s right in the heart of the eastern market!

Really great coffee. It’s so close to the market. I like so many others found myself hot, overwhelmed by the amazingness and they provided the bolt of caffeine and air conditioning I needed. So impressed by the espresso and iced coffee I got I purchased some espresso beans. Will update review once I grind and make myself some joe.

Bought coffee there along with a coffee mug. Was a bit pricey but I can not complain about the products. Mug is the best one I’ve ever bought and the coffee is wonderful!

Very close to Eastern Market which is a perk! Cute little hole in the wall! The sell tea! And syrups & even honey in the comb still. Which I did buy ;) inside has a beautiful brick wall & they have really interesting coffee makers I’ve never even seen before. I wish places like these weren’t so expensive but the coffee is good!

Fantastic coffee and when I’m in eastern market my go to spot. Many different options for«traditional» coffee as well as espresso drinks. Part of a market that sells spices and speciality items. Closed on Sunday’s! Friendly welcoming staff, free wifi and plenty of places to sit.

Seriously as good as it gets. Helpful, friendly staff. I had an espresso with a touch of condensed milk, salt and pepper and steamed milk. Seriously, mind blown. This is the type of coffee drink that I will dream of forever. Also a full range of other goodies that make perfect gifts. I want them to ship me beans to Los Angeles.

I’m a serious espresso digger and I visited most to all Detroit cafes to satisfy my buds. This, is a hidden gem in Detroit!!!(or not hidden haha) Many of my friends know Great Lakes coffee but not this one. In my opinion, this is the best place for an espresso. Their mocha is out of the world. Crema is so thick and creamy and latte art is pleasing to look at as well. I just wish they expended their baked goods and pastery lines. Macaroons are good too.

The first impression: BEAUTIFUL!!! I ended up ordering a Café at Lait, and I loved it. It’s a simple drink, and it was prefect. Milk froth, temperature, service. The wide selection of spices, teas, artifacts is impressive, and the prices are not as elevated as Great Lakes Coffee. The only reason I cut Germack’s short of 5 stars is that there is not enough space to seat comfortably, and I understand the space may not slow for it. Yet, I’m coming back here again. Hopefully to become a regular.

This place is super Rad! I was home for Thanksgiving(I’ve been in Washington DC for 9 years) and my brother brought me here. The coffee is terrific. The spices, teas and specialty foods are thoughtfully curated. We went to buy raw coffee beans for my bro to roast on his own. He is very discerning so you know they must be good! This is a destination I will seek out next time I return to Detroit.

I stopped by here a couple of Saturday mornings ago with my wife for our morning coffee. The first thing that I noticed whenever we walked in was how crowded it was. After a second look it happened to be because there was a group sitting at the large table that they had in front of the cash registers. This made ordering difficult and at one point I overheard a worker complaining about how groups need to pick better times. Other than the coffee area I didn’t notice too much else about the place besides their roaster in the back. I always do enjoy seeing a coffee places roaster and knowing that they roast their coffee on premise. After looking over the menu I decided to order a 16 oz pour over with Perivian coffee while my wife went with a small Americano. I knew that my pour over would take a little while to make but we waited 15 minutes before they even started my wife’s Americano. Then once that was ready I saw them measure out the coffee on a digital scale and grind it. Then they got their pour over station which was actually quite cool. It reminded me of a raised ice cream cone holder only with spots for the coffee instead of the ice cream cones on the top. Then you could watch them make the coffee and it drop into the cup. They started mine and filled it up for the first time. All of the water dripped through and then it just sort of sat there for 5 minutes. At this point we had been waiting for about 20+ minutes and I was getting a bit agitated. So I asked the lady who was making my coffee if she could finish it. She apologized to me and got help from another barista who eventually finished it up. I wish that I could say that the coffee was worth the wait but sadly it was not. It’s not that it was bad but it had a funny taste to it. I am going to chalk the flavor up to the Peruvian origins of the coffee as everything looked like it was done correctly. The bottom line for me is that I might give Germack’s another chance again in the future. While both my coffee and wait time were disappointing I do love that they roast their coffee in house and hope that they would do better in the future.

Love this local coffee shop. Unassuming, interesting products — many of them Detroit made! — cozy neighborhood coffee shop. I just moved to Lafayette Park and am gonna make this my home base. Some selection of baked goods but drinks are where it’s at! And the fall spice latte is legittttt(cause I’m a #basicbitch) Just wish they were open a on Sunday’s! Also: Check out the Grubbable app for 10% off your orders here and other Detroit eateries that use local foods!

Oh, Germack. You’re like the boy I want to call me more, but calls me just enough to keep me hooked and off-balance. Why, oh why, won’t you stay open past 4:30? Why won’t any café stay open at night, but you, especially? Germack has an identity problem, I know. It’s kinda a store on one side — and not like a coffee store, but like an extension of the nuts and whatever store one door over. Kinda weird. The other half is a café. Good aesthetic. Nice treats; light on savory fare. Fair prices for eating and coffee. Seating is a little challenged, because of the layout, flow and retail. Good coffee. Interesting staff — only a few annoy me. I was totes excited recently when I walked in and both baristas were Black… it’s like Germack remembered they’d forgotten to do «diversity» and compensated all at once, though we could discuss if it’s less diverse in a largely Black city, or more diverse in a largely White hipster industry. In any case, I was happy to see it, especially since so many of my social sector peeps now use the place as a de facto office. It doesn’t sound like it would be good, but the walnut cardamon blackberry muffin is the bomb. Also, they have a frequent buyer card and a cool lion logo that looks like someone’s Welsh shield.

Nope. I was served by a manager. I asked for iced coffee and she charged me for cold brew which is double the price. I asked for iced coffee again but she wouldn’t change the order. I still paid $ 4. My cold brew was disgusting. It had about triple the syrup and tasted nauseating. I threw it out by the first waste can. Perhaps the worst coffee shop experience I had. I work nearby and would come here often. Just drive a mile to trinosophes

I love this place! They have many options for coffee roasts and specialty drinks. The coffee is delicious. I got a café au lait and thoroughly enjoyed it(I usually don’t like café au laits). They use Calder milk and that is probably why it tastes good. I also had their flourless chocolate cake… it was surprisingly well done and complimented my coffee. I inhaled every last crumb! Germack is located in Eastern Market… so on weekends it is packed… and finding parking can be tricky. The café itself is pretty big, and I was able to find a table on a busy Saturday morning. They also have wifi… an added bonus. If you like to get work done in coffee shops this can be a good place. Germack will definitely become one of my regular spots!

Here on an early Saturday afternoon during an Eastern Market trip. Damn, the wait is crazy! If you’re in a rush I suggest you go elsewhere. It’s kinda pricey too. But my cappuccino(10 – 12 ish oz that comes with 2 shots) is smooth, roasted perfection so it was definitely worth the wait :) They also have bulk teas and spices here. I snagged a couple oz of Blood orange tea that smelled divine.

Dad always gets either a mocha or a French vanilla cappuccino from here Mom always gets a hot chocolate from here Always germack delivers with very tasty hot drinks and the bagels and sweets never disappoint… in comparison it is better than Great Lakes coffee roasting on Woodward… leaps and bounds better actually. The only negative is the extremely long wait… if you can Deal with the long wait then the environment and he drinks/pastries/sweets are well worth the wait.

After wandering around that crazy market you’ll be hankering for some coffee. Espresso. Yay. Great staff. Delightful coffee. Coffee tools and accessories for sale. Plenty of space. What else do you want from a coffee shop?

Love the coffee at Germack. My favorite dark roast in the area, and totally worth navigating the construction that’s taking place right outside its store. I’ve had a variety of their menu items so far, and have NOT been disappointed. Their pour over is perfectly executed, and their ‘quick cups’ are full of flavor and depth. Did I mention that this place is my favorite? Not only do they have great coffee, but they also sell Sister Pie products, as well as an assortment of teas and spices. And, I recently saw on their instagram that they will be serving Vietnamese Iced Coffees now. Huttah! Can’t think of a better combination — Germack coffee + sweet condensed milk. Note: While they do have some tables for you to work at, it’s a limited supply.

I really love this place. Their pour over coffee is excellent. The second I poured milk into my first cup from Germack, I know it would be delicious because it has that perfect caramel color. They have four options for pour over, all are different and equally delicious. I haven’t tried any of their other drinks but I’m sure it’ll be good. The staff is very friendly and efficient. Bonus: it’s the perfect place to warm up after checking out the Winter Market on Saturdays.

I’ve been here a few times and usually order the Mocha and sister pies buckwheat chocolate chip cookies. Best. Cookies. Ever. Sometimes, however, my mocha is sweeter or tastes different than the time before. So consistency among baristas may not be the best. It is a bit pricey but worth it for Germack.

My favorite coffee in the whole world. I came here on a Saturday morning when it was crazy busy. The baristas/cashier were still happy and totally nice– even when I was a complete pain in the ass and had to change my order because I messed up what my friend wanted. They did it and were still nice to me. Now THAT is service! There may be a bit of a wait, but just cool it, sit down, explore the spices. Buy beans to go. They’re the best.
