Very disappointed. I’ve been looking for a new pediatrician and was referred here. I am a little different, my child has been wearing an amber necklace since she was 2 months old and I have been making her formula since she was 2 months also since I wasn’t able to produce enough breastmilk. The formula was recommended by my chiropractor and ok’d by my former pediatrician. My child is growing beautifully and beyond healthy. I was fussed about her Amber necklace. Then was talked down to about her formula. I was then told my 9 month old needed to have blood drawn because she was probably anemic and her folic acid levels weren’t going to be healthy. So of course I had her blood drawn. A few days later I get a cal saying my child’s blood work was great. She was NOT anemic and her folic acid levels were great. But I was strongly advised to take her off of the formula I had been making, to put her on a grocery store cow’s milk formula. So, my baby has been on this formula for 7 months and is growing beautifully with wonderful blood work yet I should take her off of it. When mind you she only has 3 months of formula feeding left. Makes sense right? Then she has a drool rash, which the doctor said was yeast and prescribed an ointment. Wasn’t yeast, just a drool rash.

1. I wouldn’t go to any of these Ochsner pediatric clinics unless you can get an appointment with the specific doctor that you know /trust /want to see. If you don’t have one, make sure you get a referral or recommendation first!!! Complete waste of my money and time!!! My daughter has been very ill for past several days, vomiting and diarrhea, and her regular pediatrician and all the doctors at the Metairie clinic were booked up. I had to drive her out to the Destrehan branch for an appointment, where she saw a completely new doctor. I am not comfortable trashing people’s names online, so I will withhold it unless asked. When we got there, first of all, the nurse took a lot of information from me that I thought they should already have, and she input it into their system. She said the computer system was fairly new, and even though I had been to the Metairie pediatric clinic once or twice after it was installed, she said they neglected to input my child’s personal and family history/info. I remember her taking my daughter’s temperature, but no one ever told me if she was running a fever!(I realized this as we were driving home and it was printed on a piece of paper they gave me, which I saw when I got home.) The doctor seemed nice, but all she wanted was a urine sample — which we had trouble with since my child’s diarrhea was so bad and we couldn’t provide a clean one. She then went on to see other patients while we tried two more times to get a sample. When she came back to the room, she told us we could go home. From then on, I had to ask for every and any bit of advice I got. I am not used to having to prod a doctor for information and instructions. She didn’t even prescribe something to soothe her stomach — I’m sure there’s something that could help with the tummy ache from all the vomiting, etc. She did not want to prescribe ANYTHING but bed rest and a liquid diet. I told her I had trouble getting my child to drink liquids and keep them down, and she offered no advice to me on that as well. I am suffering from a severe respiratory infection myself, and my daughter also has a cough going on the past few days, but this doctor did not seem at all concerned about her cough. She only recommended we use the nebulizer we have at home, but didn’t even ask if we needed some more albuterol or meds to use with it! Well, the following night her cough got so bad, she was up all night hacking and coughing, and that was AFTER a nebulizer/albuterol treatment, cough meds and a humidifier next to her bed! I feel like I wasted a $ 45 co-pay for advice the next door neighbor could have given us! I am very DISAPPOINTED in the care we received. I expect more and I ALWAYS get more when I go to the specific 2 – 3 doctors that I’ve been LUCKY to find over the years. I think it is just a symptom of a bigger problem with America’s health care system, but I won’t go into that!
