Gilligan’s Seafood

Tried for the first tonite. Shrimp was great. Catfish was great. Atmosphere was, you guessed it, great. Will definitely go again.

Love the decoration, it was nice and casual. Love their bucket seafoods didn’t get us disappointed. We couldn’t wait until next time we can return for those yummy seafoods bucket.

If I had a list of ten places that could be visited by the local demolition bureau, I would say this place is number 1! Not only were we lied to when we arrived and were told it was cooler outside (can you say musty, warm sea breeze yuck) but our food arrived almost an hour (not joking) after we arrived. And then it was cold!!! I ordered the grouper basket special of the day and thirty minutes later they said, also, we don’t have grouper. Wouldya look at that??? Just look at it! And the management does not care about their customers. They have an attitude of too bad so sad when it comes to righting any wrongs! Although the table next to us (who arrived 30 min after us) received their orders a whole 20 minutes before us.

Always delivers. If you want good seafood and you don’t want to spend a lot of money, then this is the place. Sit out back on the patio and at 9pm you can see the firework show that Harbor Walk puts on. The food is not going to be as good as the more expensive place in town but you can save money and still have good food here. All you can eat fish and shrimp is always my favorite.

Order to go and waited for 10 minutes for the old white lady to come ask if my husband needed anything. He asked for a menu and she got another server to handed to him even though it was right next to her. When our food was ready, my husband kindly asked if that was his food since there were to go orders right in FRONT of her and she rudely said I don’t know let me check. So she went and had another server check for us. I think we all know what is going on here lol
Other then the closed minded dirty looking white lady the food was good.

Very friendly service & Great food. I’m not a fan of catfish usually but this is the best I’ve ever had. Fresh seafood and plenty of food for your money! I will be back

The service was amazing. Our server was really attentive and so nice. The food was delicious. I had the bacon wrapped stuffed shrimp and my bf had the 2 lbs of crab. We just sat to eat and enjoyed the beautiful view from the back deck for over an hour. Absolutely would go back. They also offer rentals of jetskis and pontoon boats next door as well as parasailing.

Stuffed shrimp wrapped in bacon were fried, scallops were small but you get what you pay for.

Great food! Everything on the menu looked good! Best gumbo in Destin I’ve had so far! Good and spicy! Had blackened mahi tacos for my entrée. Kids had popcorn shrimp, French fries, and fried okra. All were the best in town! Will be back as soon as I can!

Sit on the deck! This is our 2^nd visit to Gilligan’s. We had great service from Monica. She was very patient with our special needs son and very attentive to our needs. My husband had the bacon wrapped stuffed shrimp which was excellent (Crispy and cooked just right). I had the coconut shrimp dinner with fried okra… it was a delightful dish. The dipping sauce had a balance of sweet and spicy. Prices are reasonable for the amount of food. We will definitely be back.

Wonderful view on a beautiful day, smiles on the servers, and reasonably price delicious food! Could not beat it if you wanted to spend a little less but still eat good! I got a combo platter with crunchy fries, fried shrimp, and crab stuffed, back wrapped shrimp! There was yummy Cole slaw and tarter sauce too. But wow, I was good and full as much as I was content!

Friendly staff. Poorly funded food. Catfish and shrimp are your «all you can eat»…
Fish tacos consist of flaky white fish and tomatoes and lettuce.
Grilled shrimp plate consists of boiled shrimp and black pepper.
Not really worth the time. Might as well go to captain D’s or Long john silver.
Does have a good view of the harbor area and outdoor seating is nice as long as it’s not raining.
Just wish the food was of some quality and the cook was a real cook.

After leaving the crowded Harbor Walk on a Friday night, we stopped at Gilligan’s. There weren’t many others eating and no one inside. Everyone was sitting on the patio. The patio is huge and overlooks the water. It really is a nice setting and would be a great place for a group to gather for Happy Hour or any other time.
We split an order of coconut shrimp. We loved the shrimp but didn’t care for the hot spicy dip. I guess when we thing of coconut, we think of tropical. Friends we were with had a seafood plate.
Service was good.

Decent view, decent food, decent service.
I guess if you are looking for the arithmetic mean of seafood places in Destin then it is Gilligan’s Seafood.
Maybe we’ve been to too many seafood places in the last few days, but I just couldn’t find much to love here.
My one final, and strongest complaint is that the seats on the patio (probably because of the closeness to the water) are just picnic tables. Mine seem to have a slant to one side so I always felt like I was going to fall over.
I would probably recommend any place else, but if you are here, you probably won’t hate it.

I ordered the blackened red fish, my husband got the blackened red snapper, and our teenage sons both had fried red snapper. We loved how they flavored their fish and I loved their hush puppies! (I usually don’t eat those coz they’re usually too salty for me but in Gilligan’s they’re a bit sweeter, which fits my taste.)
Gilligan’s location is good — right at the main drag of Destin and it has outside seating where you can view the ocean and the fireworks at night. No waiting when we came in that night at 9 pm and the price was fair for the food that we ordered.
The ambiance is very informal and the physical plant can use some renovation and/​or upgrades. The waiting staff were cordial and welcoming but we had a hard time understanding the lady that served us because of the way she talked.
In general, I will recommend this restaurant for good tasting fish but if you’re looking for a bit more of a fine dining experience, this place is not for you.

I pray that they don’t use fresh seafood!
If they do it is ruined here. Everything at our table of eight was cooked at least twice as long as it should have been.
I had red snapper (my favorite), and had this been my first taste I would think that red snapper was extremely dry and tough.
The broccoli was ok, but not great.
If you come here get the burger and fries– they looked ok.

Family night out done right.
Right away we know we made the right decision when a very energetic, friendly waiter sat us. Not only was he our waiter but he was also the manager! His passion and love for not only the restaurant but the customers as well was plain to see. He had great stories about the restaurants history, and was very knowledgeable about the food and its preparation. His name is Tony and if you are fortunate enough to have him you’re in for a great night!
The food was phenomenal as well, and the portions were just right. Too some it may seem a bit pricey but it’s worth the buck I assure you. I got the ‘Best Burger In Destin’ Meal, and it may be in fact the best burger I’ve ever had! I doubled up on the patty and wound up having a pound burger with all the fixins’ plus bacon. A true Man v. Food adventure.
Two thumbs up, and favorite spot in Destin!

We planned to head to Boshamps down the street but a two hour wait made us think otherwise. We found this place on Unilocal and stopped in to try it out.
Nice deck seating with great views of the bay. Our server Lauren was very nice and gave us some recommendations on what she thought was best.
I ordered a half dozen raw oysters but they weren’t very big and lacked the salty flavor you would expect from an oyster. I would likely never order them again from here. For nine dollars a half dozen, I feel like I didn’t get a good bang for buck with those.
My wife ordered the two for twenty plate with blackened shrimp and a crab cake. I ordered the shrimp and grits. The shrimp on both plates were prepared the same way, grilled with a heavy dose of seasoning but it didnt seem like they were marinated or that they were grilled for all that long. The flavor, overall, was missing for sure. I added crystal hot sauce to my plate to spice it up. The crab cake seemed to be a frozen item they deep fried.
There are plenty of options for the area but this was probably the quickest on a Memorial day weekend filled with tourists.
With all of that said, the food was not bad, the view was awesome and the service was excellent.
