Dr. McFarland is the best… he really knows how to get the proper prescription for your eyes, I had no break in time when I used his prescription. Highly recommend!

June 10th I had a routine exam due. When I got to the office the girl at the desk tells me that they can’t see me because my insurance won’t cover until the 18th of June, so upset because she could have called me to tell me this I made a new appointment for June 24th2014 As the doctor and I were finishing my exam he tells me that I have a deductible to meet therfore I had to pay for the when I got home I called my insurance and they verified that I have no co pay. I called the office and the girl at the desk was rude and brushed me off. I have called twice to try to get my money back. So this office not only charged my debit card, but i just got a letter from kaiser explanation of benifit showing where they also paid Dr Mc Farland, so he got paid twice! I think this is called stealing! And insurance fraud!!! So if you have extra money to give this is the place to go.

Dr. Gregory McFarland is a great doctor, really like his style, he is calm, engaging, and very through. The staff is caring and efficient and the office is so very clean. I have used the office three times. The second time, there was a massive delay in my glasses. But, Dr. McFarland, Martin(office manager) made it right for me. I will be using them again. Living in DHS I always try to use local and not cross the 10, Dr. McFarland make the decision to keep the money in DHS an easy one and a great choice!

I loved Dr.McFarland. He was very nice and made me feel comfortable. He talked me through everything he was doing and why. My daughter and my husband were also very happy with him too. The receptionist and optician were also friendly and helpful.

Dr. McFarland has been my eye doctor for many years. He, and his staff are all wonderful! Always courteous, and professional. I would highly recommend Desert Eyecare Center to anyone who is looking for a great eye doctor. Why would anyone want to go to Lenscrafters or Walmart, etc. for their eye care? Because they like rotating doctors who don’t really care about you! You only get one pair of eyes… trust them to true professional, and a great staff! Reasonably priced, and affordable

I have been here 3 times since moving to Desert Hot Springs. Dr McFarland has been very thorough in my exams. He takes his time to do all the tests needed. I can easily recommend him to my family and friends. Everybody else here is super nice and helpful.

Maybe this one will get tossed into the ‘filtered’ file, but it’s my true experience. My preference is to support locally owned business. I called ahead to Desert Eyecare, a new optical store near my(independent) dog groomer’s shop, to ask about pricing(no inusurance, I’m paying my own way) and set an appointment. Jim said the exam would be $ 89 – a bit higher than Walmart, but not unreasonable. At my exam, everyone was friendly and professional. The doctor fitted me with a trial pair of multifocal contacts that the he recommended I try for a few days. I checked out, but was unable to read the materials presented(due to the new, unfamiliar contacts). I signed the charge slip Jim proffered and left. Imagine my surprise that evening when, after removing the contacts and putting on my old glasses, I read the charge slip and found the amount was $ 279!!! I went to my follow-up appointment carring a letter along expressing my displeasure at the amount billed. After some discussion(mostly the Desert Eyecare staff saying $ 89 may be what Jim quoted, but $ 279 is what it costs), I said, ‘I’ll remove the contacts, you will refund my money, and we can pretend I’ve never been here.” They refunded my money, I left them the used contacts. No apology from Desert Eyecare, and never to this day any follow-up. And that’s what happened. Well, I lied, a little bit, because here is my review(This has been bugging me since June 23rd, 2010). My advice: get your firm written quote on the way in so you are not surprised on the way out. Or give the independent professional inside the big box a chance. Thanks for reading – especially if this has been moved to the ‘filtered’ section!
