The food is ok. not too crazy about it. Its need to be fresher.

We dropped in for a weekday lunch. We were thinking Mexican and that’s what we ordered although in retrospect maybe we should have gone with the pupusas that they seem to be known for per the reviews. It’s just that I generally prefer Mexican fare over pupusas given a choice. We ordered a steak torta($ 6.50) and a chicken and BBQ pork taco($ 2 each). The products were ordinary although the torta bread was fresh. The BBQ pork was dry and old. The portions also weren’t particularly generous for a hole-in-the-wall type operation. The dining room was also cold and it was just us and a couple of Hispanic lady customers at presumably prime time 12:30pm. Service wasn’t particularly attentive either given the lack of customers. Guess we didn’t encounter anything resembling a 4.5 star average rating here.

El salvadorian restaurant: El Savadorian food was no Bueno. Bean empanadas covered in sugar, chicken tamales had no chicken. Chicken tacos were good. Service was very slow.

We literally came here just for the Pupusas. A friend has been coming here for years and wanted me to try them. It’s a very small establishment and wasn’t busy when we went around lunch time. The older gentleman there was friendly and efficient. We got our food really fast. They have nice paintings all around including one of a beach in El Salvador. They do have plenty of tables in case you want to sit down and eat. Prices are very good. You can get appetizers for as low as $ 3 and a children’s meal for $ 5. Their famous Pupusas are served with pickled cabbage and are $ 2.75 each. They come with either spicy or mild sauce. Parking for the restaurant is right in front. Keep in mind it’s very easy to miss if you don’t know what you’re looking for. I looked for the sign and I never saw it until we stepped out of the car.

I have recently revisited this famed Pupusería and I am glad to say that the interior was modernly redecorated, and the food is still delicious as always. The owners have definitely turned this place around from when they originally acquired the restaraunt. Great improvement. Des Plaines is lucky to have such an awesome and authentic restaurant.

If you are looking for terrific food and something different, stop in at Rinconcito Hispano. We arrived for dinner and didn’t know what to get — just that Unilocalers before us enjoyed the place. The place is on the smaller side, with 6 or so tables. Also, you may miss it as you drive by) which we did) so keep an eye out for the awning. When we arrived we put ourselves in the hands of our server — and we are glad for it! Pupusas are delicious! The pupusa dinner has 2 pupusas — pupusa revuelta and pupusa de queso y laroco with beans and rice. This came with complimentary hot sauces(mild, hot, and green) and Salvadorean coleslaw(curtido). Bring cash and order some extra to take home! BYOB ok, but call ahead to be sure.

Great pupusas, one of those places that you want to try everything on the menu, takes time to get your food but the wait is worth it, will go back soon

Not sure if anyone there speaks English, but I tried placing an order so I could go and pick it up. Phone was picked up, lady claimed to not know English… phone was placed on counter. I assumed she was going to find someone who knew enough English to take my large order. Alas, I could only hear a man in the background taking other’s orders as they came in. I was promptly forgotten. I tried hanging up and calling back to no avail — they’d left the phone off the hook. I’d like to review the food, but it’s impossible when nobody will take your order!

I waited too long to back and it was just as tasty … I even had leftovers that were honestly almost better the second time around, and that’s a good thing !!! I like this little spot, family owned and run, neighborhood feel and delicious! A perfect spot to stop in after errands, enjoy my meal, read my magazine … And leave quite satisfied … No fuss, just good food !!!

Me and my Wife have been wanting to go here for a few months, and finally decided to stop in the evening. We came in and seated ourselves. We must have waited a good 15 minutes before we were greeted by the server/busser/cashier/food expeditor(yes she was the only person besides the cook). She apologized and asked us for our order. We ordered the beef empanadas, a beef huarache, and a pupusa dinner, consisting 2 pupusas(pupusa revuelta/pupusa de queso y laroco), beans and rice. Food was really great! We were provided with complimentary hot sauces(mild, hot, and green) as well as some curtido(Salvadorean coleslaw). No complaints with regards to the food, but it did take us close to 25 minutes just to get the food! The restaurant was not as busy, however we did have some really loud and annoying people sitting next to us. A mostly complete turn off of an experience, but the food and the apology from the server/busser/cashier/food expeditor were the only things that saved them from getting zilch stars. F.I.Y. Get some more people to help.

The food is authentic and prices are good, don’t come starving because the wait can be long, small place –6 tables, but worth the wait, Conchi is a great cook!

This place was awesome. My boyfriend is Salvadoran and he wanted me to try pupusas but he wanted to make sure they were authentic. I wasn’t familiar with this restaurant and neither was he but we gave it a shot. And I didn’t regret it. Once we got in, there were ladies eating in a table and they even greeted us kindly. The guy that was serving was really nice and super helpful. The food was amazing! Awesome awesome place.

Authentic Salvadoran food, delicious pupusas, pollo guisado and empanadas. The empanadas made from fried plantains were unusual and very sweet. The staff was extremely friendly and was helpful with recommending dishes. Great spot for a quick meal near O’Hare Airport.

This place did a complete 360 and it was definitely for the greater good. Not only is this little place able to offer a great verity of authentic Salvadorian dishes and amazing customer service but they can bring you into a comfortable and eye catching scene with the recently remodeled dining area! I strongly recommend you stop in and try some real Pupusas, they are not like anything you have ever had. I know you won’t be disappointed! The wait is most certainty worth it because as we know perfection takes time!

My friend took me here for lunch one day and the experience was great! I’ve never been to El Salvador or had any El Savadorian food so please forgive my ignorance when I say we came here as an alternative for Mexican food. The pupusas were great and pronounced as you would think(but maybe that’s the american pronounciation). They also had horchata which wasn’t on the menu, the server said it is El Savadorian but similar to Mexican style. To me, it was more grainy than the horchata at Taquerio El Gallo but still good. My friend ordered the hot elote(corn) drink. I tried some and found it to be a little thick… kind of like drinking a sweet corn bisque. We got guac and chips to share. The chips were nice and hearty and the guac fresh, however it seems it could have used a dash more salt and a squeeze of lime. Luckily my friend’s meal came with a lime which she generously squeezed on the guac! I got the pupupas dinner, which comes with 2 pupupas, rice, and beans for $ 7.95. I think a single pupupas is $ 2.50. The rice was so fluffy and had veggies in it, delightful! The beans were a nice rich color, great taste and texture. Ulitmately my dinner plate was too much for me, the server happily wrapped up my leftovers, asked me which type of salsa I liked and put 3 containers in my doggy bag! He also packed a bag of the cabbage slaw! Great service! I looked forward to my lunch the following day! Although I would have preferred to reheat the pupupas on a grill or stove top, the microwave at work was just fine. I will be back to this place! The server we had spoke excellent english and was very friendly. Credit cards are accepted but I am not sure if there is a minimum. Just order more and have leftovers! Yummy!

First review of 2014 and it had to go to a hard working mom and pop place. If you have been following me for the 5 years I’ve been elite, you will know that I have a joneses for kbbq, crab legs and mom and pop places. On a very blustery and snowy night, we ordered two Papusa dinners to go. Each dinner contained 2 papusas with your choice of filling, rice and beans all for $ 7. The papusas were a nice pancake size with a crunchy exterior and soft interior. I chose one with chicken filling and the other with pork, both equally delicious. The rice is well seasoned and fluffy. Beans are standard. The staff are very nice when I came into pick up our order. The girl at the register offered up some salvadorian horchata and that is something to not pass up. It’s made with beans instead of rice and isn’t as sweet as Mexican horchata. Make sure you order some of this with your meal! New ownership in the past 2 years and they take pride to make sure their customers are happy! Try this wonderful Latin cuisine!

100% Recommended! We came here after driving past it multiple times. They offer some unique central american/hispanic items that are not available in other more mainstream places locally. Go see for yourself! The décor? Would you rather have food quality or nice décor — I’ll go with food quality, and everything here was really good. The prices here are slightly better than the other local authentic hispanic place.

Great little place that DOES accept credit cards. I went here with a friend after a friend of ours recomended it to us. The server we had was very nice and attentive and helped us with ordering as we never had pupusas before. He also brought us out a hot corn drink to try as well. The food was great and we both ate a ton of food for very cheap. Will be back again!
