I’ve been coming here for a while now and everytime I have came never was dissapointed. Food and flavor is on point. Love their tom yum chicken soup. I usually come here for lunch during work and get their lunch specials. 6.95 for a small tom yum soup, your choice of entrée and a eggroll. Service is very friendly and attentive. And i love how they remember their customers too. When i was enjoying my food i couldn’t help but listen and hear the lady take a phone order with a customer who had specific instructions with their food and the lady remembered exactly how they ordered it last time. I don’t write reviews on places but this place definitely deserves a good one. Especially since most of the reviews from the past is when they were under different management when they sold sushi. Which they don’t anymore.

The lasting memory of this place is a moldy tomatoe. I tried it more times than I care to admit to and I stand by my assessment.

.My chicken pad see ew was flavorful. Had enough broccoli(sadly not Chinese broccoli), & chicken pieces. Pad Sew Ew so included spinich! Size is medium, you will still be hungry if you share. However, I wish they had remembered that I asked for hot sauce, would have completed the dish. My brother and his brother in law had the chicken noodles, they enjoyed it; they not be too familiar with Thai food.. but The hot sauce! I’m almost certain my bro and his bro would have had a better experience… NOLESS ate every bite! There was no utensils included in the delivery order, and we were not in the comfort of a home. Overall I would order again, but I would go in person, the delivery charge not worth it unless you are obligated to stay put. So this review is based on delivery experience. In the mean time ill explore my options P. S. they must have been busy, I called to edit my order, it took at least 3 calls in 20 minutes for someone to pick up. No utensils included.

Terrible all around. I ordered online. I was a first time customer. I ordered at 11:15. Was promised a 12:00 delivery time. I called at 12:15 and they said they just got there and that it will be out shortly. Didn’t receive the order till 1:00. The driver could not figure our how to put in a three number code in my condo lobby to be buzzed in. So I had to go downstairs. The driver gave me a credit card receipt to sign. I didn’t charge it. He was giving me someone else’s receipt. Then on top of everything the driver lets my dog out and does not even attempt to help me get her. What an awful experience!!!

This place recently opened under new management. I have been there a few times since they reopened and have been very impressed. The new owner and employees take time to come out and check to make sure your meal is satisfactory. They make their meals with as much or little heat as you like. It’s a very clean place with about seating for 25. They have a nice menu with lunch specials that come with soup and spring rolls. The price is less than $ 8.

This used to be «Asian Fusion» restaurant but no more. There is a new owner. The owner/chef is Thai. The food is excellent and authentic. If you can stand the heat, order Thai hot. I am Thai and just moved to the area. One night I was searching on Google to find a Thai restaurant near by for dinner and found Bangkok Belly. The new owner have gotten rid of sushi and focused on making good, authentic Thai food. You will not be disappointed.

*Let me state that this place does not sell sushi anymore! Only Thai food!* I had just started to work in the area and drove this place many times thinking that they were closed on my lunch break(11:30). Seeing that it was a Thai place(and I am a HUGE fan of Thai), I called to see what time they open and they told me 11:00. I went in that same day that I called and I was in love! First of all the atmosphere is just sweet, even though it is in a lackadaisical strip mall, the interior is pristine! Clean, freshly painted and warm! The service was accommodating right off of the bat. I had told the server that I was a vegetarian and that I was going with the lunch special and she went in back and brought me a bowl of vegetarian soup. Our appetizer were two delicious spring rolls with a perfect sweet and sour sauce for dipping. I went with the lunch special of tofu with spicy Thai basil(you can pick your meat for the lunch specials) and it was nothing short of incredible!!! My lunch partner had gone with the bean thread noodles with chicken and she loved it! Ever since I have visited, I have been going there for lunch at least time almost every week! I also am a HUGE fan of their red curry entrée which has the perfect punch of silky and sweet and spicy! I am torn between the Thai Basil and the Red Curry, I am assuming the rest is just as good considering I have brought quite a few people there for lunch and all of them raved about their entrees! This place is an absolute hidden gem! The staff are very warm and caring and considerate and it always feels nice to come in having them know me by name and give me and my lunch attendees the most incredible service! The soups are always delicious, the appetizers are delicious and the food is outstanding! I have already brought 7 people over the last few months with me and as first timers, they have all become HUGE fans and have thanked me for showing them such a great establishment! One thing I just would like to share is that despite they advertise the 6.95 lunch special, it went up a dollar. But it is still well worth it! I have been to so many Thai places and have been so disappointing, but to find Bankok Belly and to have so many delicious dishes which are so fresh and outstanding, I am sold!

Excellent Great Pad Thai. Spring rolls were awesome. The chive dumplings were great. You have to order the pineapple fried rice. Great service.

As you drive East down Algonquin Road, you’ll pass by a little run down strip mall with a sushi joint by the name of Bangkok Belly. You may then think to yourself or turn to your driving partner and say«Who would eat there?» Well, I’ll tell you who would eat there… ME!!! And you should, too! This small BYOB sushi joint is open 7 days a week and good bang for your buck! All of the Thai entrees are under $ 9. They even offer happy hour deals. Because of the small size, I believe there is only one server(at least the times we have been there), so when you are only one of two tables it’s no big deal, but if the place is filled you may need to be patient. They also have a delivery service with a $ 10 minimum to your order. We’ve had a handful of their appetizers, soups, and salads. *If a restaurant has Vietnamese Spring Rolls(A11) on their menu, I will almost always order them. The more crunchy fresh vegetables the better, and Bangkok Belly has just that. *I don’t regularly order tempura’s, but the Veggie Tempura(A8) had a light enough breading for me to enjoy. *I LOVE the Avocado Salad(S3). What seems to be an entire avocado lies atop lettuce. It’s topped with julienned carrots and a light refreshing dressing. Get it. *I enjoyed the Shrimp Shumai(A5), but you must like garlic to enjoy! The Shumai are steamed, I believe, and then topped off with crispy chopped garlic bits. *I’m a big fan of Tom Yum(P2) soup, but I would pass on theirs. Personal opinion, but for me the broth was bland, the tofu a bit too tough, and I didn’t enjoy the addition of tomatoes. I’ll have to try the Tom Kha next time. We’ve only had a few of the entrees. *The Pad Thai(T1) we tried was more sweet, with less of the peanut taste we are use to. They do not skimp on shrimp though, having a nice size and quantity. They were slightly pan fried I believe, which were good, but I would of preferred grilled or sautéed next time. In the corner of the Pad Thai plate, they serve a thumbnail size side of sugar, pepper flakes, & peanuts for you to add at your discretion. *I thought the Drunken Noodle(T3) entrée was delicious and would order it again. It was served with yummy wide fat buttery noodles. And now for the main event… Sushi! Honestly, all of the sushi rolls we have ordered here we have liked. *The Mexican Maki(J13) is filled with yellowtail, avocado, cilantro, and jalapeño. Spicy mayo is drizzled over the top… how can you go wrong? *The Spicy Scallop Roll(F9) had fat pieces of fresh scallop with cucumber and avocado. The Spicy Scallop Roll is also drizzled with spicy mayo. *The Negi Hamachi Maki(J9) had nice sized cuts of yellowtail with a little bit of scallion. *The Spicy Trio Roll(F22) has been one of our favorites so far. Aside for being pleasing to the eye, it is a spicy salmon with tempura crunch roll. The roll is topped off with tuna and white tuna, then drizzled with unagi sauce, spicy mayo, and red tobiko. *I didn’t think I’d like the Tuk Tuk Roll(F24) because of the fried onions listed in the description, but they were almost like little cornflaked onions on top, rather than the shoestring onions I pictured in my head. The roll itself is white tuna, asparagus, avocado, and a wasabi mayo. It is then topped off with white tuna and the fried onions. There are plenty of more delicious options to try at Bangkok, but I think I’ve bored you enough. Don’t let the location or negative reviews steer you away. Give Bangkok Belly a chance to fill YOUR belly.

Fresh, light, and great flavor! Had the Penang and red Curry this evening. Ordered the red curry extra spicy and the Penang regular heat. Both were flavorful and full of veggies and reasonable amount of food. Portion size Is what you should eat vs average fat American. Had chirasha last week and the fish was excellent and very fresh.

Bad bad bad. And bad! Sushi: The worst sushi I’ve ever had. We tried 4 different rolls, they were not fresh and were rolled poorly. Stir fry: Stale, flavorless and over cooked. It’s tuff to make a dish taste this bad. Price: Wayyy overpriced for the quality. Service: Poor. We paid $ 60 for this meal and regret every penny spent. I would advise against repeating our costly mistake!

First of all, there is NOWHERE to park. The parking lot has maybe 8 spots split between the small strip mall and 50% of the spots are for 15 minute parking only. When you get inside there are a few tables crammed together. This would all be fine if the food was good… I ordered Thai food and it was terrible, flavorless, and just not good. I will not go back due to the food and the environment.

I purchased a GroupOn and went there on a weeknight. Between two people we ordered 4 rolls, a Sweet Potato, Crunchy, San Fran, and Mexican Maki. I am reviewing based on the two rolls I ate and ordered(Sweet Potato and Crunchy). I will say the sweet potato roll is delicious! It’s a warm roll on the sweeter side. The Crunchy, I could have down without. It was pretty boring but the spicy mayo gave it a kick. My husband ordered the other rolls and he said they were good. Overall, the place is clean and the service is good. It’s not the best sushi and Thai place in Des Plaines, but it’s decently priced.

Jury is kind of out on this place for me. Had a Groupon for $ 25 and for one person at a place like this, that’s a LOT of food. But I hadn’t eaten all day, so no issues with that! Decided to order two rolls and gyozas as appetizers, then an entrée. The rolls were the«roundest» rolls I have ever seen in a sushi place — I got a futomaki and a tekka maki. Very little rice and a LOT of «core ingredients» — I loved that. What concerned me though was the off color of the tekka maki — usually a bright reddish or pink color, this had a grayish tone that nearly caused me to not accept it. We’ll see how I hold up tonight! Didn’t detect any odor, so I «rolled» with it(pun intended)! The gyozas were OK — kind of non-descript. I ordered the chicken pad thai for my entrée. I agree with Linda as to the color — it was a bright orange — I’ve only seen pad thai that color once before. Taste-wise, it was OK though, I’ve had better and worse. They brought it out on a plate and next to it were 3 items — one was clearly some dried hot pepper, another looked like very finely ground peanuts(couldn’t taste much of it to speak of) and a third mini-pile of a white salt like looking substance that I never asked about and the server never described. I asked for a to-go menu or business card and they had neither. This is a small place with maybe 8 tables — more to-go than sit down; all the tables were 2 or 4 tops. I might return to check out the Chinese items or see if the tekka maki color was a one-off situation.

I cannot recommend. Pictures posted. ordered delivery. The one star is for the spring rolls which were decent. The Pad see Eiw(beef) and Pad Thai(chicken) were not good and the pad thai had a strange color. Those get zero stars. Beef did not taste like beef and the noodles didnt taste right either. I would instead order from Thai Square in Downtown des plaines. I think this used to be another restaurant as when I phoned they had all my info, but I had never ordered from them before. Waste of my hard-earned money!
