Had to move dry cleaners as my old one closed. Have had great service for a fair price. Great location with easy parking too!

I’ve lived near «Des Moines, The Cleaners» for over a decade but was loyal to my other dry cleaner. However, they were closed one day so I decided to go here — that was my first big mistake! I took 3 pair of brand new True Religion jeans in to be altered (shortened) with the original hem and since I have never been here before, I brought along another pair as an example of what I wanted the hem to look like (I learned my lesson the hard way so I wanted to be sure they knew exactly what I wanted although this is a fairly common request for designer jeans).
When I picked them up I saw they did not alter the jeans with the original hem but simply hemmed them. When I pointed this out, they said thats what I asked for and they went on to explain that an ‘orginal hem’ is when the seamstress hems the jeans with the same color thread as the original hem but then I reminded them that I provided an example of what I wanted. They tried to find the original hems but was unable to, so after a few weeks they reimbursed me the cost of the jeans. At that point I was very happy they were willing to turn a bad situation around and I thought I just found my new dry cleaner/​alterations company.
I replaced the 3 pair of jeans and brought them back to be altered with the original hem (of course) and was excited to finally get my jeans back. They then charged me $ 40 per pair to be hemmed! $ 40!!! I was shocked to say the least. So, I’ve decided to never return there but I also decided that since they used that as an opportunity to recover a large percentage of the money they shelled out to replace the first set of TR’s that they ruined that I would be sure to get the word out about their antics and shady business practices.

To add to the follow up comment — You know you did not tell me the cost of the hem because I would have categorically taken my business elsewhere. And yes, I dropped of another item because, as I mentioned, I thought I found my new cleaners (although I gave the sweater to you before the transaction was finalized. You ask why I didn’t return to Nordstroms. Again, my intention was to patronize your establishment.
I said nothing that was untruthful in my post and this website, as well as many others are here here (and referenced) for the purpose of reviewing establishments. Your price was far more expensive than anything I was able to find on the internet — even searching the cost of this service in Beverly Hills and London! If your company was financially hurt because you had to replace the cost of 3 pairs of jeans that you ruined, then you should decline to handle expensive garments and refer those customers to New You Alterations located at 22 308 Marine View Drive South, Des Moines, WA.
I feel your establishment insulted me in charging an obscene amount of money to hem a pair of jeans and I feel its my option /​right to inform others of your insulting business practices to allow them to make an informed decision.
