New Moon Cafe & Dairy Bar

We stopped here while going from CT to Toronto and we’re really pleasantly surprised. Our waitress was super nice and friendly and the food is really good. I would highly recommend and definitely go back!

Great breakfast for the family Memorial Day weekend. Very happy to have found this place. Giant pancakes, very good coffee and lovely service. We’ll be back. Thanks New Moon!

Stopped to find somewhere to eat after a drive down from Rochester, NY. Found New Moon and decided to give it a try. Great first impression; cozy, warm restaurant. Our waiter Becka was extremely friendly and patient while we looked through the menu. Food came without a long wait, and everything we ordered was phenomenal. The veggie wrap was out of this world, and the reuben sandwich failed to disappoint. Overall a lovely experience, and if in the area again, would come back to New Moon without hesitatation.

I am from nyc and my parents work in the food industry so I have been raised to be very picky with my food. When driving from syracuse to go to catskill chill music festival I stopped here. I got the veggie moon and wow. The ingredients were so fresh and it was amazing. make sure to ask for extra garlic moon mayo cause that stuff is addictive. Since then I have made sure to stop here every time I am within an hour from deposit. even if it means im going out of my way. This place actually has home cooked food and none of that sysco mass produced bs. So if you’re driving anywhere near the catskill region hit this place up if you want some good food…

I’ve never written a Unilocal review before, but this place deserves it. It was a really lucky find and a great place to stop for food if you’re driving on NY-​17. I’ve had the grilled cheese and egg salad sandwich, and my boyfriend has had the veggie moon. Everything is extremely fresh and it’s a very welcoming atmosphere. We actually go out of our way to stop here now.

After an early morning departure from CT on my way to Western NY I started to get sleepy and pulled off RT 17 to get breakfast and lots of coffee.
As soon as I walked in, I knew I’d like the place. As I headed to the dining room, the waitress warned me: «there’s a bunch of troublemakers back there». Actually, it was a bunch of retirees in their 60’s and 70’s that clearly have known each other for decades and have been coming to New Moon for breakfast for a long time. They were spread out over 3 separate tables but were carrying on conversations about all sorts of subjects. It took about 2 minutes and I was drawn into the conversations as well. I ended up staying and talking for 1 ½ hours! Fun!
Oh, almost forgot… The food. I got the New Moon breakfast special. 2 Pancakes, 2 eggs, bacon, sausage, Canadian bacon, home fries, toast, jelly and probably 4 cups of coffee. It was delicious and filling. Don’t tell my doctor!
The visit was way more than just food — it was a cultural experience. I was smiling all the way back home.
Definitely give it a try! You’ll be glad you did.
