Fun and Funky little place situated on the West side of Hwy 101 in Depoe Bay, which is ~equidistant between Lincoln City and Newport on the Central Oregon Coast. Limited seating, lots of ‘to go’ orders Funny signs out front! Wonder if it was at one time a gas station? Hmmm… anyway… Zeke is the chief cook and bottle-washer, who takes great pride in serving high quality food items. He has an open-air, covered area adjacent to the ‘store’ where the smokers make their magic. All salads, side dishes, and desserts are home-made. I love the smoked chicken, beans, and especially the marinated veggie/black eye pea salad. The Cole slaw too vinegary for my tastes… just sayin’. …

Had a plate with yummy pulled pork with sweet sauce, cornbread and fantastic cole slaw with a dressing you might find on a chinese chicken salad. Good choice.

Zeke, is a decent honest & upstanding man who takes tremendous pride in his homemade product! The barbecue starts early in the morning(by him) and is also served by Zeke, and a small staff. You will not be disappointed! Great beer, sauces, salads, and meats! We had the shrimp boil with potatoes, sausage, and potatoes. It’s a must attend event on the Oregon Coast!

Amazing BBQ! My wife and I stopped in here as we were passing through Depoe Bay and we were very impressed with the quality of the food. It is truly authentic BBQ with great flavors. They also have a pretty decent bottled beer selection, because the only thing better than BBQ is BBQ with beer. The place is small and there isn’t a ton of seating inside, so it got a little crowded while we were eating there(especially with all the people coming in to get to-go orders). Also, the walls are covered in odd décor, which makes the space feel even more small and cluttered. The food, though, is tasty enough to overcome the venue’s drawbacks!

Beat BBQ ever! Little hole in the wall place, but those are always my favorite. You order at the counter and can eat there. The owner is a super nice guy too. They make different sides daily. The ribs are my favorite, fall off the bone yummy. The burgers and sandwiches are good too. They also do breakfast sandwiches. Soooo good. Definitely my go to spot for barbecue.

Great BBQ! The pulled pork was delicious. I loved the coleslaw, it was clean and simple(not mayonaise-y). The interior décor is pretty entertaining, and the owner is a totally awesome guy.

This is the best BBQ ever. I go here every time I feel like messy good BBQ. I don’t even try to count the calories, I’m sure it would blow any diet. But some times you just got to go for it.

With all the seafood available in Depoe Bay, this BBQ place brings a welcome change. The owner is a cool guy and makes nothing but the best food to sell. It might be hard to find his restaurant open, but if you can get there while he still has his food to sell, you won’t regret it. We both loved everything we ordered! Two thumbs up for Bone Pile BBQ! For what you get, his prices are very affordable.

When we first visited Bonepile BBQ — the place with the funky ketchup & mustard décor, and the really funny signs outside — I was a new transplant to Oregon, and had only just begun to miss the BBQ I grew up with in Texas. Now that it’s been longer — I think I may have found BBQ I actually like better than any I ever had in the South and Southwest… This place has pulled pork that is butter tender — and ribs just as good or better than even mine(lol) and a whole lot easier… Let Zeke do the cooking! YES to what all the other reviews say about the cornbread… YES to the spicy BBQ sauce he makes on site — and the sweet sauce — and the horseradish-mustard… And YES to his variety of pastries and little pies. He does his own sauces, smokes everything in-house, and evidently caters, too — so YES, this is your one-stop BBQ joint – Actually, just YES. This is real, slow smoke BBQ(including seafood) — and though I’ve tried others, from Ashland to Portland and many points in between, this really is the best I found. My Thanksgiving Dinner may turn out to be BBQ this year! :D If you’re visiting Depoe Bay — you’re already lucky. It’s one of the most beautiful stretches of shoreline around. Now if you stop at Bonepile BBQ to eat — you’re lucky twice.

We enjoyed the great signage of the BPBBQ, which along with the great smells filling the air, drew us inside. The ½ rack of ribs at $ 12.50 was expensive — really very little meat for the price. If good, would have been worth it. We took the ribs, piping hot, to our room just minutes away to augment the rest of the meal we had waiting for us. Anticipating meat that is nearly falling off the bone, we found tough meat that was a struggle to get through. I’m guessing that every place has their bad days. Given the other reviews, I’m guessing that this was it for Bone Pile BBQ.

Stopped by twice, and going back for one more before we leave this area. The BBQ is good, but love the desserts. My husband loved his double porker(pulled pork and bacon) sandwich, and my folks loved the corned beef. I’ve been trying to get up early enough to get some breakfast there, but we are on vacation so we haven’t made it yet. The service is great. very friendly place.

Very nice people, very generous portions(we should have split a single meal). The gals who work there are super friendly and the owner, Zeke, met us at the door. The brisket was okay, if a little fatty/oily. I’m used to a more medium rare brisket, and this was cooked medium to medium well. My wife’s chicken, however, was charred black and horribly over cooked. She did like her pulled pork, though. I’d give them 4 out of 5 for friendliness and atmosphere, but only 2 out of 5 for the food, which was really disappointing, as we’d read how good the food supposedly was here on Unilocal, for an overall average of 3 out of 5. We’ve no plans to return but wish them well…

This place has the absolute best BBQ in Oregon, possibly in the entire Pacific Northwest. The wife and I have been here a few times. We’ve even taken friends and family here while out visiting the beautiful Oregon Coast. The owner, Zeke, really knows his stuff and is a pleasure to talk with. The pulled pork po’boys are absolutely amazing! So tender and juicy and absolutely full of BBQ flavor. However, if your’re a sauce person like me, Bonepile has you covered. There is a sweet, a spicy, and a mustard sauce(my favorite) for you to enjoy. The sauces are all made on site, nothing out of a can here. Oh, and the Sweet Tea he makes is just as good as anything you’ll find in the Southern states. My words really can’t do this place justice. You really have to just go see and taste it for yourself. The décor is a bit quirky, but just adds to the life of the place. Looking at the walls while you eat is actually kinda fun. And once you are done eating, if you have room, you can also treat yourself to one of the many baked goods that are made by Zeke’s wife. I recommend the Apple or Cherry Pie. So, if you are near Depot Bay, don’t miss out on this place. You will regret it.

We started coming here when it was the Riptide BBQ. Zeke had to change the name. We come here every year when we stay at our timeshare at The Harbor. The smell coming from the smoker will draw you in! St. Louis ribs, brisket, Reuben sandwiches, pulled pork… it’s all good!!! The only bad part is since they are a small business, they sometimes run out of food. When it’s gone, it’s gone for the day They just started doing a seafood boil on Saturdays. We didn’t get a chance to try it yet, but we peeked at another couples feast and it looked amazing! Crab, shrimp. chorizo, potatoes and corn! Oh my!!! Definitely worth it! And the décor is ever so quirky!!!

I am a BBQ convert over the last few years, never cared about it before but kinda know my way around a BBQ restaurant and BBQ types around the US. After a stellar whale-watching trip it was time to protein load(went on board empty tummied, just in case, if you know what I mean…) I had the brisket sandwich — best ever, anywhere, EVER! My husband had the St Louis ½ rack of ribs because they were out of rib tips. He was not a major fan of the sauce —which is a personal taste, not a sign of the quality. The meat slid offa da bones, which became a bonepile, quickly, on his plate. Lip-smacking good with some kicked-up mac salad. we left the restaurant and had to go take naps, thank you excellent food coma!

Very quirky décor and a very sweet owner. They had run out of a few items, but since there is so much to try it didn’t phase us. I had the Double Porker(shredded pork with two bacon slices) and my husband had the burger. He liked his burger. I guess I’m used to BBQ sauce smothered pull meat so I was surprised to find it dry. The BBQ sauce on the table helped a bit. For our sides we had the cornbread and macaroni salad. I thought the cornbread was gritty; however my hubby devoured it and he enjoyed the homemade jam. I liked the macaroni salad even thought it too was a little dry, like the pasta had absorbed some of the dressing since it was made. The apple pie was divine. Very good crust — flavorful, light and flakey. It reminded me of Mom’s. I would eat there again, but try something different. I think my husband would give it a five, but he has less discerning taste buds.

Went to Depoe Bay for a 3-day weekend, never been there before. Was told to go try two places… so Saturday at 7pm both places were closed. I mentioned I saw a good Unilocal review of this place, but could not imagine getting good BBQ in Oregon. I have lived around the USA and overseas and have tried BBQ everywhere. Texas, St. Louis, North Carolina, etc. all different versions. When we got there it was empty, so we thought not a good sign. however he was about to close and mentioned he still has some food left. The owner Zeke could not have been nicer, what a great guy to chat with and super friendly. The mix at our table was St. Louis Ribs, Pulled Pork and Brisket. Sides were Cole Slaw, Black Eyed Peas and Potato Salad. Plus Cornbread, Honey Butter, Honey and home made Strawberry Rhubarb jam. Here is the good and the bad… The good was Everything. OMG what an awesome place. The food was out of this world. Zeke takes pride in what he cooks and serves and you can sure tell. The whole meal was amazing from start to finish. I feel bad recommending this place at it will no longer be a secret place for us to have good BBQ but we have to let others know how great of a meal we had here. The décor is so outlandish and funky it’s worth the trip. The Viking out front is a clue to life not being typical inside. The deserts are home baked from a local baker. Even the soda from the fountain had the right mix. Ok, I sad the good and bad… The Bad. Depoe Bay is about 90 min from my house and Zeke is not in Albany. :-( Go and try BonePile BBQ in Depoe Bay. if you love BBQ you will have a blast and be licking your fingers for a while. Our love to Zeke… follow your dream big guy, you’re a BBQ Star!

Very good BBQ. Ate here on our way back from Newport. We had the beef brisket sandwich and then we split a pulled porked sandwich. Wife had the Mac salad and I had the beans. Very tasty. Owner is super nice and friendly. We were the only people in the place and it was nice to support a local business

Went there on a rainy night out of season and he still had a huge selection. Rib basket and St Louis ribs were both great. Very well seasoned and tender. Lots of meat on the ribs. Pea salad very good as well. Will definitely go back when in the area.
