This will be a short review, atypical for the verbose ass that I can be, because the«features» at the Boiler Bay Scenic Viewpoint are few. Instead of being this overwhelming experience full of roadways and vistas at every turn, it’s basically a pull out roadside area with a parking lot overlooking the boisterous Pacific Ocean near Depoe Bay. I’m thinking this is why they named it Boiler Bay, but I’m not sure. Make no mistake that this is a very worthwhile and easy stop along the coastal route. The coolest thing about it is that it’s a quick way to sample typical Oregon Coast scenery and, most of the time, I’m assuming the ocean will put on a show for you as the waves hit the rocks right below you. Be sure to check out everyone’s photos to get a good idea of what this small area looks like. Boiler Bay Scenic Viewpoint is very much an A-OK kind of place.

My boyfriend & I went on a shipwreck road trip down the WA&OR coast. This was one of the stops. Beautiful views! However never saw the old rusty boiler. We made sure to leave in time for the really low tide & no site of it.

There are tons of viewpoints along the Oregon coast and sometimes it’s hard to know when to pull over but this place is worth it. The viewpoint juts out from the shore and has some great views of the shoreline going north. I was also told by the staff of the Whale Museum that this is a great place to look for whales during the migration and that they’re closer to shore than you think(look around where the waves break).
