You can do a lot at Veteran’s Field like play baseball, softball, soccer or lacrosse. But, the only thing I do there is kick balls! Yeah! I mean, you know, on my kickball team. There are two fields that have dirt infields and one field that was made on the grass.(Secretly I like this one the best even though the balls roll slower when you pitch and kick them. I like it because I like laying around on the grass when it isn’t my turn to kick. But, we rarely play here because the real«ballers» like the dirt for speed. Whatever.) It is a trifle hard to find as Yona said, but once you get there you’ll be surprised by how many other people successfully found it to engage in all these outdoor activities. Oh yeah. The bathrooms are terrible. I would almost rather use the port-a-potty that’s onsite because they are that dirty/smelly/gross. Kickball!

You might not be able to find this place at first, because there are only two ways to get to the area of the park that is actually the park. You can either take University to Iowa and go West till you hit the park, or you can take Louisiana to Vine Street and head South until you run into it. I frequent this park on Sundays to watch my friends’ kickball team that is part of the Denver Kickball Coalition(DKBC). What a way to spend a Sunday afternoon! Sitting on the grass on your picnic blanket, drinking beer from a can, and watching kickball. People bring their dogs, and kids, and their megaphones to cheer on their fave teams. Radio 1190AM has a team, and if you play on the lower field(sans grass but with ample bleacher space) then you may be lucky enough to hear the great music blaring from their dj booth(yes, when they play they set up a full scale booth and have a dj play!). But wait, am I reviewing kickball or the park? A little of both since the only reason really to go to this park is to watch team sports. I think they have softball here too, but the DKBC rules the park on Sundays through September.
