Nothing special, mediocrity at most and average food. Like really, imagine a generic Chinese/Thai restaurant, with ok service, and relatively high prices, and there you have it. Not sure if this establishment is related Thai Basil in DTC, which is wayyyyyy better, but anyhow, it was ok, nothing more.

Made a reservation for large group and they said great! Ended up with the WORST service ever. Everything took forever from drink orders to even ordering. Then food orders came out one at a time over the next 45 minutes to 1 hour. Tables who sat down after us got served quickly. The staff seemed flustered and also non caring. Were told it was bad computer input and new staff but completely unacceptable. Food was fine when arrived but evening was already ruined!

I love coming to this place for lunch! They’re so nice and don’t waste time. The curry is so yummy.

I’ve had some ok Thai food at Thai Basil. But tonight, absolutely flavorless, unspiced food that tastes like the only flavoring is sugar. Way too inconsistent and too much decent competition to bother with them again. I mean, I prefer Pei Wei at this point. I went to the web site to let them know I was very displeased with the meal, but in the new ultra-hip, extra-cool iPhone fashion, there’s no contact information. Very elegant and streamlined, no «contact us» getting in the way of the layout. So, I took my bad review to Unilocal

I had the Sesame Scallops and they were amazing. The flavors were complex and perfectly balanced. I feasted my eyes on the beautiful presentation while consuming the spectacular aromas.

Food was overly sweet, lacked authentic flavor and spices. Service was not great. My 3 year old burned his finger on a little table light and didn’t get so much as an apology.

Great ambiance. Great service. I go around to different Thai places to check out my favorite dish Thai basil fried rice. This one falls short of even my attempts at home. Short on flavor. Portions huge. The dollar beers are making up for it though.

I really enjoyed this place until the one time when I took $ 65 in To-Go food(all over the menu) back to my roommates and long story short we all got very sick, coincidence? Maybe, but 5⁄5 people praying to the porcelain God makes me think not. I went in to the restaurant once I could drink water again and asked for a refund, longer story short, I didn’t get any of my money refunded(I was asking for ½ back). They were rude when I explained my situation, if they refunded me some of my money I would have returned. I gave them a shot and they didn’t take it. Eat here at your own risk!

Decent food and normally enjoyed. Rough experience recently where I called ahead and had an order waiting on the counter when I arrived. Their credit card machine was down and I had no cash. They told me sorry and I left without the food. Not a big deal but i wondered what would even happen to that food? Doubtful it was served to someone else. It would have cost them almost nothing to hand it to me and I would have been a customer for life. Instead it soured me and I will likely be going elsewhere for thai. That kind of thing just makes business sense.

We come here regularly! The food is much better than the other locations. The manager here is Iwa(Spelling?) and is very friendly and has gotten to know us pretty well. One of the best deals is the $ 1 Colorado bottled beer with entrée.

As a loyal Spicy Basil patron, I was a little bit hesitant to try Thai Basil. How incredibly ignorant of me! Although both make a mean Pad Thai, I think Thai Basil may have had a slightly better spice to it. Not to mention that local draft beers are $ 1 with the purchase of an entrée. $ 1!!! Service was great when I dined in and delivery was fast when I ordered on a snowy Sunday night. All around good stuff.

Went here one night when I burnt dinner. The menu looked great and they had some good coupons. The person who helped me wouldn’t let me use a coupon and get the drink special while I waited for my carry out order. I thought it was stingy for a $ 30 dollar order. It’s not like they would lose money on my alcohol order. The food was subpar. The flavor was mild and the Thai basil chicken didn’t even have a hint of Thai basil. It was like fried chicken with a sweet and sour sauce. If I was dragged there again I would order the peanut chicken salad. It was tasty, but needed more acid.

What’s everyone’s beef with this place? My girlfriend and I have dinner here a couple times a month and we’re big fans. Prices and portions are more than reasonable, the food is good, and there are ONEDOLLARCRAFTBEERS. I mean, really! What more do you guys want?! Okay, fine, sometimes the service isn’t as attentive as some people might like. But usually it’s the one guy running around like a crazy person handling an entire restaurant full of tables. All things considered, it’s impressive. Lovely dishes include: drunken noodles, all the curries, and the vietnamese slaw of all things. Don’t be dissuaded by some of the griping; give it a try.

Years ago I would have argued that this was best place in town for Thai food. I’ve been a regular here since it opened more than 10 years ago and continously promoted this place, but now that I live south I don’t come her as often. Glad I know know stop telling my friends to go here. Now I would have to argue that the Pad Thai I had was one of the worse I ever had. I would have returned it to the kitchen but I was on a business lunch and did not want to be rude to my guest. It was dripping in pink pad thai syrup… dripping. It was so overly sweet, no spiciness like typical Pad Thai. Not even Sriracha helped. Was terrible. Service was also slow and unfriendly. Server was abrupt and strange when ordering a dish without meat, has he never encountered a vegetarian before? And it took ages upon ages to get out bill and have the transaction processed so that we could get back to work. What happen Thai Basil? I am so disappointed.

I suspect the original Thai Basil was sold: this is NOT the same restaurant it was. Shame on me! Last time I was here was 5−6−7 years ago! Gone are the adorable thai wood carved tables, the thai serving pieces, the funky purple and green paint job… The host/waiter was super attentive and saved this review at least one star! Very friendly, helpful, nice. I had the Bangkok chicken. It was sweet, in a thick sweet cornstarchy soy sauce with fresh jalepeno. It was ok. The eggroll was ok. The sauce was ok. My friends lemongrass chicken was ok. It was served hot and quicky. About $ 11 each for lunch. The new décor and restaurant arrangement has lost something, and the food was ok. Just ok. For me, I aim a little higher:)

The Thai food here is mediocre, although the service was nice and fast, and the $ 1 Colorado beers were great. I’ve eaten at dozens of Thai restaurants all over the world, from Chicago to Budapest to Bangkok(the one in Pest was definitely the worst). Tonight we had Chicken Satay, Thai Basil Chicken, and Panang Curry(w beef). I was disappointed with the Satay peanut sauce and the Panang Curry. Although both were quite edible, they only hinted at the taste of really good Thai food. The Thai Basil Chicken was the best of the three. NOTE; This was only the 2nd «Thai» restaurant where I have been given a knife and a fork and I saw a couple request(and actually be given chopsticks!!). This was also only the 3rd «Thai» restaurant I have been to that served fortune cookies with the check :-/

Not sure this is worth a full blown update but here goes. Got in late last evening from being in Mexico for a month and wanted Asian of some sort delivered. I called in an order to Thai Basil for an order of the Thai Spring Rolls(the non-fried variety with peanut dipping sauce) which I really like and an order of their Thai Basil Veggies with Tofu not expecting much but it was surprisingly good. I noticed on their new menu that you can finally order by heat level and the spicy definitely had plenty of kick and the veggies were fresh and crisp. Not bad. S-l-o-w delivery though and I only live 4 blocks away. They’re usually at my door before I can get out the chopsticks and sriracha — not tonight — a solid 45 mins.

I’m always satisfied when I eat at Thai Basil! However, my friend with dietary restrictions was not allowed to substitute extra vegetables in place of rice with her curry. Weird. The server would not even charge her more for the extra veggies. He simply told her they wouldn’t accommodate the request.

Thai Basil is a solid alternative to other Thai restaurants in the area. The last couple visits have been by delivery only(yes, delivery!), so please don’t take this as a reflection of the in-restaurant experience. I can report the delivery is quick and painless, with the food arriving hot and fresh. Flavors are not as strong as you could find in other Asian restaurants. For example, the Kung Pao chicken was less Pao and more Kung. The Drunken Noodles must have only been drinking light beer cause the blandness of the noodles overtook the dish. However, these are minor nitpicks and do not represent a reason why you shouldn’t try this place for yourself. Chalk it up to inconsistency because other times I’ve found their food to be flavorful. Please don’t expect the quality and creativity of Asian restaurants on Federal Blvd, but do expect a solid experience with good, yet sometimes inconsistent, dishes.
