Near the Capitol and small location but great food and service. Family owned and run. We had the meat combo plate and it fed two. Coke fountain products and the machine was set up perfect with a GREAT Coke taste.

This is the best Syrian/Middle Eastern food in Colorado. Period. The gyro meat is delicious and the portion size is overly generous while the prices are extremely reasonable. Hummus is the best I’ve ever eaten. Creamy, flavorful, addictive. Pita is warm soft and tasty.

After an afternoon at the children’s museum, we wanted one of our comfort foods, kebabs. This place did not disappoint. We love middle eastern cuisine and take any chance to find a place that meets our mark. We ordered hummus and pita as an a appetizer and it was great. The hummus was creamy and very flavorful. For our entrees we ordered the Chicken Shawerma Plate and the Gyros Plate and they were both delicious. The flavors were so amazing and the meat was cooked to perfection. The place is not the cleanest or the nicest in terms of asthetics but I assure you it is irrelevant because the food is great.

Best gyros in Denver! Hearty, perfectly seasoned. I usually get the salad as my side and it is great, especially for a side-salad– crisp and fresh vegetables. Fast, good service as well.

I’ve never gotten anything other than the gyro sandwich, so I can’t speak to the quality of the entire menu. However, the gyro is top-notch. For $ 8 you get pita bread stuffed to its bursting point with that delicious lamb-beef gyro meat. The onions, tomatoes and lettuce always look and taste fresh, and you get just the right amount of tzatziki sauce. You also get your choice of fries or onion rings. Clearly, I always get the onion rings. I recommend calling ahead for take out at lunch. The wait be upwards of 20 minutes if you order and wait there.

The restaurant seemed to be run by one young man which made it seem like our dinner took forever to arrive. He was nice though, so no complaints there. The falafel plate was yummy. The hummus and tzatziki were both good. The best part was the pita bread! Worth the trip just for the bread. The meat eaters in the group didn’t care for the kabobs. Yet, we all left too full for dessert. Sadly, we had upset stomachs all night.

Fantastic! Went with a big group and everyone got something different! All was delicious! Lamb shank, chicken shwarma, and the veggie dish! The hummus was addicting! I practically licked the plate! It’s a family owned business and I just love that! Great location across from the Capitol!

I’ve been here twice now and had great meals both times. They have all the Middle Eastern dishes. Last night I had the chicken shawarma: fantastic. I also ordered a side of the green beans: wonderful. But the best of all is the hummus. Order some to take home. It’s the best I’ve ever had. Why not 5 stars? The dining area is a little dark and they don’t serve alcohol. Service was good though …

I was passing through Denver and it was getting late and I didn’t eat all day. I ordered the shish kabob and it came with side of salad and hummus. i didn’t care for the sides too much as much as i did the main dish. I got my order very quickly and the food was. I got the lamb kabob and it came with spiced yellow rice. The lamb was very flavorful and the rice was very well cooked and spiced. It’s located right next to the State capitol building and a short walk from the park.

My boyfriend talked this place up big time because I have long stood by my assertion that there’s no good middle eastern food in Denver, and he wanted to prove me wrong. Unfortunately, this place didn’t even come close to living up to expectations. It was just okay, and way, way, waaaaay too expensive. I ordered a grilled chicken plate. The salad came out first. The greens weren’t particularly fresh… you know when you have to pick the soggy bits out of a bag of greens? Yeah, lots of soggy bits. Mealy tomato. That weird, brain looking part from the pepper. No good. The hummus was good. I’m picky about hummus and theirs made the cut. Their pita is store bought, but slightly less cardboard-like than most of what you find in the states. When my meal came, it was literally a plate full of rice and a chicken breast. It wasn’t bad… it was just very mediocre. I will say without hesitation that I could make it better. The chicken was kinda difficult to power through. Good flavor, but dry. The server was nice, but the service was a bit slow. The worst part was the price. $ 19 for my lunch and a Diet Coke. I did a double take when he told me the price. Although my experience wasn’t blatantly negative, I can say with certainty that I will not be back.

Kabobs, which they claim to eb their specialty, is like rubber. Very hard to chew… good for spitting out. Sauce was stale. Chicken tasted like it was precooked and warmed up(perhaps microwaved) and thrown on a plate. Service is horrible. The young man on the front counter is rude and dishonest about food freshness. Bad value rfor your money. Be Warned… This is in a red light area… there are prostitutes and pimps right outside the restaurant and who knows what else is being sold there. I did not feel safe at all.

I had a gyro. It was shockingly cheap if I remember correctly, and it was pretty darn tasty. Staff was friendly and quick.

Decent kabobs. The chicken shawarma I had was a bit dry and my gf’s gyros were a bit greasy but overall it was not bad. For the price it’s not bad and since Denver is kind of a wasteland for really good kebobs there aren’t too many options out there to be picky about.

One of the worst falafel meals I’ve ever had the displeasure of consuming. Quite frankly, I’m confused by the rave reviews Shish Kabob Grill is receiving. Are we talking about the same place here? I came to this small corner restaurant with high hopes and left as a dissatisfied customer. FALAFELSANDWICH($ 5.99): The lettuce was wilted and the tomatoes were still green. I didn’t see any onions and the sandwich was just a sloppy mess. The tzatziki sauce was really thin and watery. Fries are $ 2.49 extra and were extremely plain, not sure if salt was even added. 2⁄5 GYROSANDWICH($ 7.99): Brother-in-law and husband said it was okay, but not impressed. At least fries were included with their meals. 3⁄5 SERVICE: Hot as a mother in here. Refills took extremely long to get. It took forever to get our food, and it seemed like everyone else got their food before us(even when we were their first). 2⁄5 VIBE: Cramped casual restaurant that’s seat yourself. The busiest part of the restaurant is the to-go line at the counter. Worth a Return Visit? I wouldn’t recommend Shish Kabob Grill because the food isn’t fresh and is utterly forgettable. DELISH! I’ve been eating here since their opening weekend — it was the same weekend I moved into an apartment across the street. Nearly 10 years(and 3 apartments) later, I still find my way back here a few times a year, when I’m craving delicious hummus and chicken shawerma. The staff is lovely, and it’s been neat watching the sons grow up over the years. In my opinion, they have the best hummus in Denver!

So misled by the 4 star review for this place. They have the WORST hummus I’ve tasted and I’ve eaten at many middle eastern restaurants since I lived close to Dearborn, MI. Also, chicken shawarma was a lie, it was NOT shawarma, but some poorly sautéed chicken. The lamb kabob was ok, but the grape leaves were another disappointment. Soggy, mushy, tasteless, cold grape leaves. The only reason why I’m giving it a 2-star is because they were very nice about our crying child. BUT, not a child friendly place since the high chair was broken and no changing table in the bathroom. Do yourself a favor and pass on this place.

You will only enjoy the food here if you have never had Mediterranean or Greek food previously. For those that don’t understand what a Gyro is, I will gladly list in order how to make it. 1. Fresh warm pita bread(Shish got this right at least) 2. Shaved lamb(this restaurant filled the pita with large chunks of some type of mystery meat sausage. Definitely not lamb) 3. Add fresh cucumber, tomatoes and red onion(they added tomatoes, iceberg lettuce, and sautéed onions) 4. Add a cold fresh helping of cucumber Tzatziki sauce(there was a very small amount of some brownish garlic tasting sauce) Their Americanized version of a gyro is quite simply an epic fail. To add to their failure, I ordered a side of hummus. I’m going to give the benefit of the doubt and assume that they somehow accidentally gave me garlic sauce instead of hummus. If this was truly their hummus, someone needs to light this building on fire. Hummus is supposed to be made from garbanzo beans. What I received was more along the lines of a potent garlic mayonnaise. I can only imagine the horrible excuse for food these other Unilocal reviewers eat on a daily basis if they believe this McDonalds version of Mediterranean food is actually edible.

Fantastic food. Chicken shawarma wrap is tasty and filling. Beef Kifta Kabab plate is amazing. The Kabab was well seasoned. The plate comes with pita, salad, hummus, a ton of rice and tsatziki sauce.

Good authentic Middle Eastern fare. The dining area was nicer than I thought. My impression was this place would be an order-at-the-counter QSR place. Instead, it’s a sit down restaurant. We had a couple of dishes– the chicken shawerma and kabob plates. I thought the chicken was a tad dried out and, although good, definitely not the best I’ve had. The kabob was done very well but had a slightly different taste than I’ve had in the past. It seems this is a Syrian place, which I’m not familiar with, so I accept it might be different than other similar cuisines in the region. All the side dishes such as the hummus were really good. I was disappointed to see they don’t make their own pitas. That is really the major mark against them. Nevertheless, if I find myself in the vicinity I would probably stop in again as it ranks among the better Middle Eastern spots in Denver.

Yum, middle eastern food! Always one of my favorites. This place impressed me mostly because you get more than you would think for what you pay. I went in for lunch with a few co-workers. It was pretty busy but we were seated immediately. The service was a little slow to the point we were questioning if we had to go to the register in the front to order(hint: you don’t). Hence, the 4-star rating. Before even going, my co-worker and I decided to split an entrée because we both had big dinners coming up later in the day. This turned out to be an even smarter decision than we thought. The portions are HUGE. Our Gyro plate was a mountain of rice and veggies with handfuls of flavorful meat. You also get a side of hummus and pita. I would have been satisfied with just the hummus it was that good. Next time I will get an appetizer portion in addition to my meal– it was amazing. So creamy! Other people at the table got the gyro sandwiches that came with a ton of fries as well. No one finished their plate and you could easily make 2 meals out of anything you order. I also got a mango juice that was really refreshing and so thick it was almost a smoothie. I would definitely go back here– and I plan on popping in soon to get a tub of that hummus to go(they have it ready in a fridge at the front!).
