First visit and on New Year’s Eve! Wasn’t sure what to expect, but was very satisfied with the food and service. My only recommendations would be to remove the nutmeg from the butter that goes on the complementary bread, and have the filet and the shrimp and grits meals available without pork touching them. Otherwise, the ribeye and kabobs were cooked just right.

I will never eat here after experiencing the owners harassment of service industry workers. Saying things like«get an education» and find a «salary job» as validation to not tip. Absolutely disgusted.

Great soups. Love coming here on a cold night and getting a nice hot bowl of soup. Only complaint is service is always very slow.

I have been to Safari Miles many times. I love the food and the service is usually good. Last night was bad… The food was good as always but our server didn’t even mention Specials we had to ask and I felt like I knew more than her. I told her that Thursdays is Specials and she said well let me go look. She didn’t even give us her name. She was short and not friendly at all. I felt I was being rushed, she stood over me when I received the bill. I wasn’t going to give her the greatest tip but being she was behind me I gave her 18% which I feel she didn’t really deserve. I will go back because I love the food and the atmosphere but I will make sure she is not my server again.

Due to a tennis tournament we were in Denver, stopped by Safari on the way home. It was later, but not late(8:30p). The service was good but not exceptional. The food and the price was an issue. We ordered cheese fries as a starter, which surprisingly not good. How do mess up cheese and fries… This turned out to be a theme, we all ordered wraps and they all turned out to be overly salty with little other flavor wise. BTW, the wraps were all different.

I’m not from around here, but I’ve been to safari miles once or twice a year for the last 4 – 5 years, whenever we visit family in the area. The experience has always been perfectly mediocre. Not bad, but not great. If the family is happy, I’m happy. A solid 3.5. However, tonight was a different story. I ordered the shrimp and grits. I’ve had it before, and it’s been OK… But right away, something was off. I could tell with the very first bite. It wasn’t until my 4th or 5th bite, when I got a big chunk of sausage, that I realized it was the root of the problem. The sausage was well past it’s prime. It tasted so rancid that I had to spit it out. Coincidentally the manager walked by about 30 seconds later. I explained the problem to her calmly. She offered me the option of getting something else, but I declined, having lost my appetite. She then just apologized and walked away… and didn’t even clear my plate. And when the bill came, it was still on there. From my days in the industry, I would have expected the item to be removed from the bill, and something else, like a dessert or a drink to be comped, as a gesture of good faith. I would have also expected the manager to acknowledge the fact that the sausage was foul, and to thank me for notifying them of it, so they didn’t serve it to any other unsuspecting guests. For all I know, there are others out there right now, waiting to see if that rancid sausage results in an evening of hugging the toilet.

Looking for the best steak around? Hands down, it’s Safari Miles. Cut fresh in-house daily by the owner and cooked perfectly, you can’t beat the quality and price. I get mine rare with extra seasoning. Last night’s special was a New York Strip and two sides for less than $ 12. I hope they keep that special as a regular offer! Attentive servers, experienced bartenders, consistently good food, casual, and affordable. Check out the new menu items, like Italian Nachos or Grouper piccata, for uniqueness.

Consistently good food, fairly cheap drinks too. Service is always prompt and servers are very nice. Some of our favorites are the southwest chicken egg rolls and the French onion soup is delish! The owners are usually there and seem very nice.

I went here for dinner on a Saturday night and there was not wait, which was perfect. The waitress was great, and the food was delicious. I had the blackened grouper, it was cooker to perfection, not over seasoned and nice and flakey. My friend had the broiled grouper and it was cooked perfect and had a great flavor too. I would definitely go back.

Every time we have been to Safari Miles, its been awesome! We have a little cabin at Lake Norman and drove by the place for years without stopping. Then one day we stopped in as we were very hungry and did not want to wait til we got to the cabin and then cook. Wow, we were kicking ourselves for not stopping sooner. It was such a nice experience. Our server was so friendly, the food was incredible, the atmosphere was nice. We are busy professionals and live a very stressed out life. So the time we have off work is very precious to us and its so important to relax and experience the reason we work so hard. Safari Miles is one of those amazing«hidden» gems that help sooth the stress. We have been there a number of times since that first visit and each time is perfect just like the first time.

We had a waitress who was very friendly and recommended a great wine. The food and service we had was excellent. I had the filet mignon and my husband had fish. We were both very pleased. The salad was a little wilted. We will definitely go back but I am not sure I will try the side salad as one of my sides again. We also had the seasonal vegetables. It was a very flavorful squash, zuchinni mix that I hope to have again. The two for twenty menu was a good deal it appeared but the appetizer you were forced to get was cheese fries so we passed on that.

We’ve been here once and it was ok — I think there are better restarants in the area for food, but the drinks were yummy and the live music was very good. We were sitting in the dining room and I have to say the music was a little loud. Next time, we might just go for the music and a drink at the bar. Like others have said, go here for a drink and entertainment and somewhere else for dinner.

Always a hit or miss here. For the area the food is about typical. Only thing that keeps me coming back is the prime rib and drink specials. Other than that I’ll go somewhere else for dinner. Service is usually pretty good but I do agree with another poster that their food used to be much better. Update: 2−18−13 Went there this weekend, got the prime rib ordered rare-i.e. cool pink center. Waitress said no problem, we still have lots of rare left. Outside was pink but inside was well done and extremely chewy-c’mon people, that’s just ruining a good piece of meat. Waitress took anywhere between 20 – 30 mins each time to come back but would stand and chit chat with her buddies that were one table over from us for 15 mins. at a time and not even check on or acknowledge us. We’ve given this place quite a few tries due to the lack of variety in Denver but no more. This place is way too pricey for the quality of food they serve and I don’t think the owner even cares anymore. Lastly, the salty food-reel it in guys, salt does not equal flavor.

In a larger city, I’d maybe go three stars, but for being in Denver, this is the one and only place where you can get higher caliber food that rival some of the nicer places on the other side of the lake. Worth checking out. The quality of the food is very good and the service(on our last few visits) was attentive without being overbearing. The back dining area needs a bit up upscaling(darken the back a bit, better silverware). the menu could also use a little changing up. There are plenty of people on this side of the lake who get tired of driving to the other side for a nice meal that isn’t from an industrial deep-fryer.

Our first time here, h/b had the ribs and rib eye he liked it. I had the whole flounder grilled lightly battered. It tasted fresh, what was different about it was the way they served it instead of it fillet it was served whole fish, tail and all the rest minus the head. you would have to be careful with working around the bones, otherwise it was good. I had a side dish of mushrooms it was delish ! The exterior and interior was nice and so was our server. Good choice if you ever in Denver, NC

Well, honestly, I have been by this place a thousand times and never gone in. I remember when it was the only place in the area to eat. They have a 2 for 1 dinner special that my wife and I went in for. I was pleasantly surprised that the place is nice and fun. The service was excellent and the food was great! It was just typical bar food, nothing special, but that is my cup of tea! I will go back with the kids and family!!!

Go for the drinks! Go somewhere else for dinner! The bar is a decent place to go grab a beer in the area. That’s about it though. We used to eat here all the time, but the food just got saltier and saltier and worse and worse. I stopped going and very rarely even go in for a beer now. I hate it for them, because the place has potential. And at one time it was an amazing place to eat. Actually many people I know on the west side of Lake Norman used to go there and now… not so much. Time to bring in the new.

This place wouldn’t quite get 5 stars if it were anywhere else. But, since there really isn’t anywhere else in the area to get a good meal, I have to rate it well. They have an extensive martini list and normally have some kind of drink special. As usual the beer selection is a little lacking. Great seafood. Decent décor. Live music on occasion, but not a whole lot of room. Appetizer menu is pretty generic, but everything is good. Stuffed mushrooms, bloomin onion, nachos, calamari, ect… Seafood entrees are the way to go IMO. All under $ 20 except the lobster. Lots of good steaks, but nothing spectacular. Pretty much any of the shellfish dishes are good and the grouper is actually grouper. Havn’t been in a little while, will update once i go.
