Good place to find antojitos mexicanos. Chilindrinas, corn, Popsicles, ice cream. I had the corn in a cup and it was delicious, the best horchata my son had have in denver.

On hot summer days, you can’t beat the relief of a sweet, chocolate dipped, frozen banana from this place. Take shelter under one of a couple of tables with umbrellas outside, or hunker down in the small interior of the shop to enjoy. If the chocolate bananas and strawberries aren’t enough, they truly have something for everyone. Popsicles in all sorts of amazing flavors from tamarind to coconut to mango and everything in between. They have freshly cut fruit, which is packed tightly into good sized containers and sprinkled with lime and chili to order. The ice cream is super tasty, and while their selection can be limited, they always have fantastic flavors. One of the best things is the mango cup with lime and chili. Basically, blended mango purée, frozen with a stick in it. When you order it, they squeeze lime and squirt hot sauce into the cup… It’s a wonderful mix of sour, spicy, and sweet – a great way to spend a hot afternoon. I think they also serve food here, but I’ve never ordered any. While I don’t speak Spanish, I can always get by with the point and indicate number of desired(frozen bananas, mango cups, scoops of sweet, sweet ice cream) I want. Whenever I go in, whoever is working is always patient and kind with my stilted ordering. They have shorter hours in the winter, but it’s absolutely the place to be in the summer… or just wait for their paleteria men to walk by your house with their little bell-clad carts.

This is a friendly little neighborhood place with a wide variety of frozen treats, which include not just ice cream and popsicles but also delicious fruit and frozen chocolate-covered bananas(as well as some other kind of squarish item dipped in chocolate that I wasn’t able to identify). The mango with chile is excellent, if a little pricier than I was expecting($ 4 — but, then, this is the first time I’ve had mango with chile so I’m not sure what the going rate is). I have to say I was a little skeptical about that combination, but the spicy/sourness of the chili powder and sauce really brings out the flavor in the mango. Also, the cup is pretty large(I would guess at least one and possibly even two mangos gave their lives for one cup), so even at $ 4 I’d say this is a better deal than your typical flavorless American-style fruit cup. I also recommend the chocolate-covered banana, which featured a higher quality/darker chocolate than I was expecting(and was also very reasonably priced at around $ 1 or $ 1.50 — can’t remember exactly). The menu is mostly in Spanish, but most of the ice cream and treats are clearly visible, so I’m guessing you could probably just point at what you want if you get a server who doesn’t speak much English and don’t remember your food terms from Spanish class(luckily, I had my Spanish-speaking husband with me on my visit, so I didn’t actually get a chance to try out that method).

Paleteria Chihuahua can meet all of your Popsicle needs. Of this, I am confident. They also have hard ice cream for cones, cups(vasos) and sundaes. You may have to brush up on a little Spanish before going in, but they are always super friendly to this gringa and her kids. :) They also have a grill, but I’ve never ordered any food.
