We went here because I remember having some kind of coupon so we decided to just use it for once!!! I guess u order at the front counter pick a seat and they bring the food to you. Well we tried a soup each i have never really had a good tomato basil so i said let me try the one u have here. it was ok i guess not a fan but it wasn’t horrible either. The pizza it self yes its made to order but the menu makes it sound better then it actually tastes. I love pizza really i do and i loved the thin crust i had ordered but the flavor just really wasn’t there. Maybe i didn’t order right maybe i wasn’t that much in the mood for pizza whatever it was, i was expecting better. service was alright over all so really no minus there. I hate to say this not knowing if it will become true or not but we might not go there again.

My sister and I came to Il Vicino because of the free wine tasting and food tasting and stayed for dinner. We loved the ambiance of the restaurant and the service was amazing. We had multiple servers offering us refills and anything else we needed. The pizza was great, salads were fresh and huge, and breadsticks were a perfect appetizer. We will definitely be back!

This is a great joint that almost feels like a mid to upper scale Italian place without all the crazy prices. You order your $ 10 lunch combo at a counter, get a number, head to the table, sit there for about 35 seconds, get your salad that’s actually quite large and fresh, your drink, and after a half hour of attacking a salad and seemingly getting nowhere, get your personal pizza. Service is great, place looks great, prices are great. Yeah, it’s great!

The brown ale here is really really good, much better than I would have thought, if you like malty beers, get this. I also am a huge fan of ordering at the counter & sitting down and waiting to get your food vs server table service. I rarely need anything beyond what I’ve ordered & sometimes the server is more annoying me than serving me, so I am totally into this place where you can kind of just be left alone after you order. The za, it is pretty good. Not the best za I’ve had in my life but definitely tasty & that pepper olive oil on the table is a plus. The manager(?) said it was a blend of 5 different peppers boiled into the oil, yum. They also have turkey sausage which is pretty scrum. I’m told you can get a cheese pizza & a pint for some outrageously cheap price after 9pm so I’ll be back for that.

I came here for lunch with coworkers. They offer up a small pizza, small salad, and drink lunch combo for around $ 10. Good value. The small pizza is tiny though. I had their pizza with artichokes, capers, and olives on it. It was ok, but nothing particularly amazing. Same goes for the salad which had a scoop of tuna salad on top of it. The food is decent, but definitely not amazing. It has kind of a chainy vibe(it is a regional chain). It offers up quick food at reasonable prices for lunch though.

We frequent Il Vicino because it is in the neighborhood and it is fast, fresh and very good. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The menu has a great variety if you are in the mood for pizza, panini’s, pasta, calzone or a salad. Sorry, I have to disagree with those who say that it is frozen. It is all made fresh right in-front of you in a big open kitchen with a brick pizza oven.

Staff was friendly and food was good. Spicy shrimp pizza was spicier than expected(but great) and the tuna salad was good starter. Bummed they had no non-alcoholic beer, but no big deal.

Pretty good chicken pizza and reasonably priced as well. I was impressed. Nice place to go for lunch. You can certainly do worse than this place.

Il Vicino is really a nice place for a quick lunch or even a dinner spot. I have only been to this location a handful of times but each time it has been an enjoyable visit. If you haven’t been to an Il Vicino before when you walk in you order from a person working a counter. You are given a number and then go to sit down at an empty table. I have been here at times in the past and found it hard to find a table. They do have seating outside but I haven’t been here when it has been nice enough to eat outside though. After you have a table now you wait and a server will stop by with your drinks. This person also comes by and will give refills on soda and tea or water. I haven’t had any of the alcohol beverages but I know they serve them. Your pizza depending on how busy the location is will be delivered to the table also fairly quick. Each visit I have had a pizza. I wasn’t aware of the calzones but having read the review from Tiffany N I am going to have to look at those and perhaps try one. The pizzas here are cooked in a wood oven as the name implies and come out very tasty. They do have a smaller size version of the pizzas which I recently found out during a lunch visit. I overheard a lady in front of me ordering one as a smaller version. I wasn’t aware of this before and really enjoyed the smaller version. The larger or normal size version is great also but I often times have to really be hungry to put it all away. I unlike most guys am not a fan of left over pizza so if I don’t finish it all off it goes to the trash and I hate wasting food. So if you are often finding yourself taking home pizza from here ask for the smaller size. I have made a habit out of that ever since finding out about it. I really recommend this place if you are in the neighborhood and looking for a pizza.

The brown beer is quite amazing and the pizza smells delicious! So this place was pretty legit. Their beer was quite delicious, and the pizza a cut above standard par. The all meat one that I got kind of tasted like a glorified Totinos brand pizza with all the minced meats, but the other two were amazing! I unfortunately do not remember the names of the pizzas, so I can’t help you out too much there, but this place is absolutely worth a try!

If you like DiGiorno, have I got the place for you. Really wanted to like this place. I realized it was a chain but figured all of you Unilocalers would not let me down. On second thought, perhaps I’m a pizza snob. I detest frozen pizza — that much is certain, though I was a 20-something once and I know frozen pizza when presented with it. If I were you, I would never never go here. If good pizza is what you’re after, get thee to Ernie’s pronto. It’s worth the drive. It’s worth the cash. I’m sorry, Il Vicino. .like.you. Service was good. Also, the root beer was spicy and delicious. For that, I almost bumped this up to 2 sad stars. But the lump of pizza in my gut forbids me. Ciao.

This is a really nice place! I’ve only been here twice, but I’ve enjoyed the pizzas both times. I’m not usually much for the thin crusts, but this place does it right. They also have some nice Italian sodas to sip on, and a nice selection of wines as well. The setting is nice, and a window-side table guarantees that you can watch the foot traffic on Broadway going by. The service is quick, the pizzas are affordable. The variety is excellent, the wines are nice. There’s really absolutely nothing about this place that I don’t like!

So I lied in my last review. I frequent Il Vicino often. FAR too often. About every other week. Why? They make some of the tastiest wood fired pizza I have ever had and they are less expensive and speedier than many of their competitors. Team this up with prompt, friendly service and reasonable prices, Il Vicino is a 5 star establishment in my book. Oh and if you aren’t a fan of the pizzas on the menu, they will customize.

I have been here a few times but the most recent I think was the best. They seem to have an improved service system and the food was very good. I had a tuna salad plate in which the tuna was NOT the usual gloppy mayo version, but actually had a unique and satisfying flavor. The greens were fresh and well complemented with additions, and my dining partner naturally was snatching olives off the plate. She had a calzone and it was tasty enough for her to break off her usual post-ballet workout sparrow routine to consume the whole thing. She didn’t even express regret later, it was that good.

I am now a frequent visitor to Il Vicino, probably stopping in for lunch at least once a week. The staff all knows me by name… which may be an indication that I’m eating too much pizza, but who cares?! I have brought out of town friends here for a casual lunch, and it’s now my boss’s favorite place to stop mid-day for a meal when he is out visiting me. Good food, good service. This place is always hopping at lunch time, and it’s pretty obvious why. You won’t be disappointed here! PS — My husband LOVES the spicy oil they serve at the table. He dips his pizza crust in it at the end of his meal. They sell it by the bottle too!

Awesome! I ordered takeout from Il Vicino today on the recommendation of a friend of mine who lives in St. Louis. I also took his advise and ordered the Margarita PIzza with sweet balsamic marinara and turkey sausage. One word: perfection. I love their crust, the ingredients are clearly fresh, and the flavor is balanced. The substitution of the sweet balsamic marinara was a great one.(Thanks, Tim.) Friendly manager and confident server made the experience all the more simple and uneventful… something I like on a Sunday afternoon. Can’t wait to have lunch/dinner in the dining room very soon!

I like this place for what it is. It’s kind of like Noodles for pizza, but much better quality and nicer ambiance. They have a woodfired oven to make their pizzas delicious. But, you can also get soups, salads, paninis and calzones. I myself had a pasta, penne alfredo to be exact. I was concerned the noodles will be too saucy, but they weren’t. The sauce was a really good consistency and they let me add salami, which may sound weird, but tastes delicious I promise. You order from a counter, but then sit and have your food served to you. The server will also come by and check on you from time to time and I’m pretty sure there was a bar. But, it was noon and I was with my mom so I wasn’t drinking yet. I wouldn’t say this is a place I’d rush to return to, but I do think it’s nice for a quick lunch or a casual dinner.

A nice neighborhood pizza place, with handmade, woodfired pizzas, and good value. No great shakes, but not a bad family place. My only complaint is the fact that the crust can’t really hold a lot of ingredients and once you get to fresh tomatoes, artichoke hearts and olives, the thing is a soggy mess. Stick with simple margherita or one-topping pizzas and you won’t go wrong. Family friendly hint: Kids will especially like the fact that they give the under 12 set(or older, if you’re emotionally stunted and ask) raw pizza dough to play with and will eventually bake it up for eating with some chocolate syrup.(Not that there’s enough chocolate syrup in the world to induce me to eat the final product of the dough that has been worked through the grimy hands of an eight year old for twenty minutes, dropped on the ground, spinkled with the pepper flakes, olive oil, sweet and lo, and whatever other stuff they found on the table.…)

Il Vicino is one of your run of the mill Italian places with usual Italian affair, but just with better food. The wood-oven pizza does taste better, and the Calzones are excellent. The service is decent, and it was not overly crowded. Nonetheless, there is nothing that makes the experience stick out in my mind beyond being satisfied with it. Thus 4 out of 5
