This is an interesting little theatre. It’s inexpensive and they have some offbeat shows. They also have plenty of intermissions and a bar for cocktails(YAY!). Parking is a challenge, but, that’s downtown Denver. I went right after Halloween and they had costumes you could wear in the bathroom. Strange, but, amusing. There was also candy in the bathroom. I like that! I enjoyed coming here — it was $ 15 and a change from a movie. I’d definitely go back.

Great space for intimate, affordable, thought provoking theatre in Denver. Tricky to find after you park but just head for the buildings’ corner on Speer and you’ll find it.

The Jones is a great space, and perfect for improv shows and other intimate performances. I went to the 1÷10÷13 Cult Following — Off-Center improv performance with some friends and we definitely enjoyed ourselves. I was nervous at the beginning because they do somewhat of a «cold» open which is loosely structured and didn’t quite work/wasn’t funny. But after they got into the main part of their show(in which they take 5 movies clips chosen by audience members at the previous show and inter-weave them into a «cop-drama» story line) it was definitely funny and a good show. Also, the value is incredible: $ 10(+$ 2 online convenience fee) if you buy online before the show and $ 14 if you buy at the box office on show night. This also includes 2 drinks(Coors Light or Alaskan IPA), popcorn, and I believe some candy. Oh yeah, and the show of course. So even at $ 14, it’s a steal. Definitely going to try to make another show.

This locale is the SHIZZLE! It’s not a small theater it’s intimate. Perfect for underground shows, or something that is a bit risqué. Off-Center is a superb complement to the huge, big money shows at other venues of the DCPA. I say: hop on the website ASAP and get some tickets to anything that is showing. I recently witnessed the awesomeness that was the show Drag Machine — top notch fo sho! The 150ish seat set up is perfect for audience interaction and lots of fun Fun FUN. It’s a comfortable feel. As expected there is a small lobby with a bar, coat check and restrooms. Everything one could need. You know that big ass sign that is on the corner of Speer and Arapahoe? It’s got lots of advertisements for shows and really bright lights, you know the one. This theater is located DIRECTLY behind that sign. The entrance faces Speer Blvd. and I’m guessing most people just pass right by it; never knowing it’s there. The best part: they sell booze and aren’t shy about letting people know. In fact, some ticket deals include not one but TWOFREE drinks. As always check out the website for more details. But generally the ticket prices won’t tug too much on the purse strings — always good news. Over all this venue has great shows, a nice space and tons of character that you won’t get from the dried up olde fogies at some other theaters. Sure the shows are a bit off center ;-) but who wants anything mainstream and typical? Not this guy!

Denver Off-Center has a great attitude and has proven to be a great night out! Here’s what I like about it: — You can be spontaneous. You don’t have to dress up to show up, and shows start later so you can head to The Jones after dinner, or for your first beer of the night. — Tickets are cheap(usually $ 10 – 20). Sometimes that includes a beer(or last week, three beers). — It’s less fannnncy than its DCPA cousin and more interactive. If you’re not much for sitting still, you will feel right at home. — No one here will yell at you for noisily unwrapping your candy or pulling out your phone. On the contrary, one show had a live Twitter feed, another provided the candy, and another asked the audience to make the sound effects(you should hear my tornado impression). I found myself wearing 3D glasses and a funny hat I found in the bathroom, drinking a beer and laughing hysterically. — The night always seems to end in a dance party… on the stage. Last week I went to CULTFOLLOWING, the monthly comedy/improv show that incorporates movie moments submitted by the public. We were cracking up the whole time! I will definitely catch the next one. Overall, it’s just something different for a night out in Denver.
