Best haircut ever!!! I just moved here from Philly and was looking for a new salon to deal with my unruly curly hair. Suzanne seemed to get my hair immediately and cut beautiful layers into it. My hair looks awesome, and I am beyond thrilled.
But the best part? Her dog Terrence sat on my lap for most of the hair cut. Love, love love this place.

My hair is a bog of curly messy grows every direction noodly ringlets that for most of my life I have just buzzed off and started fresh once I start looking like one of Peter Pan’s lost boys. Not terribly long ago my wife suggested I get a «big boy haircut» and recommended I see Nikki at Big Hairy Monster.
I have been blown away at her ability to take my crazy hair and give it magnificent direction and a style that maintains its freshness even after a couple months of growth. I also have a beard, that I meticulously manicure on my own. On my last visit Nikki offered to clean it up (I was planning on doing it after I got home from the haircut) and I fearfully allowed to tend to my face-​garden. She did amazing! Better than I could have myself. Moral of the story … Men (and bearded ladies) let Nikki trim your beard, she has skillz.
I love the atmosphere of Big Hairy Monster. Warm, laid back, and comfortable. All the skill and talent of a high end salon with none of the snooty attitude or insane prices. I will go here til I die.

I’m new to Denver and like others previously stated it was my first hair cut here. After doing research and finding out that most places charge $ ⁴⁰⁄₄₅ for a fade it made Big Harry Monster that much more attractive at $ 20. The lady that cut my hair was really pleasant and nice to talk to. Three of the lady’s own the place which they take pride in the place and the job they do. I will definitely be going back for my monthly haircuts.

Go there, right now, stop what you are doing and attend this establishment. I have weird hair, I would describe it as mushy? And they make it classy, its like a tuxedo on my face.

I made an appointment, got a haircut, like it fine. Didn’t really know what I wanted, just that I needed one. Normally I have a sinking feeling post-​haircut. Not this time.
Right away the girls I know had complimentary, unprompted things to say. Maybe that’s just what girls do? Or maybe my hair was terrible before. Maybe it’s an amazing haircut. Either way, can’t complain.

I don’t always get haircuts, but when I do… I will go to Big Hairy Monster.
First thing is to understand who I am, and how uncomfortable going to a new hair-​cutter-​off person is. That fear of change and secretly knowing that after just a few snip snips, you’ll be leaving with your long blonde locks transformed into some strange Dutch windmill repairmen doo.
Stop the cycle! It’s simple. Just go here, have Holli cut your hair. badda bing badda boom, you won’t feel like a creature leaving the shop… you’ll feel like a man (woma, n or person), get invited to Second Saturdays, and end up buying some amazing vinyl creatures next door at Plastic Chapel… but that’s another review.

My whole family gets our hair cut at BHM, the best, coolest hair cuttin shop in town. Others might try and convince you they’re better, but the fact of the matter is that Suzanne, Holli and Kristy are the best of the best.

I have a weird phobia of hairdressers, and I tend ot move from hairdresser to hairdresser because well — different reasons.
So — I had to get a hair cut. It had been litterally over a year. I ran across Big Hairy Monster on Unilocal and thought it was worth a try. I went to Christi and she was awesome! She was kind, helpful, didn’t make me feel stupid and I love my haircut! I will be back!
My friend saw her too — and she also loves her haircut! Christi rocks!

This is not your fancy, shiny, spotless salon — I’ll let you know that right away. It’s an older space, nothing outstanding, casual, dog’s running around your feet. However the walls are covered in fun art, the hairdressers and super cute and friendly, and you feel welcome the moment you walk in.
We all know how difficult it can be to try a new stylist, but Holli was referred to me by a mutual friend so I was willing to give it a shot. And I’m sooo glad I did! I went in not really knowing what I wanted to do — just that I want to grow it out and add some fun color.
She took charge and gave me a kick ass color job — red highlights throughout, but subtle enough that my work won’t mind! On the cutting front she managed to keep my length while cleaning it up and giving me a great style. All this while being super friendly and down to earth, chatting with me the whole time, without that akward «what do I talk about-​ness» with the usual stylist.
Thx Holli! Can’t wait for my next appointment!

Suzanne has been taking care of me (and my hair) for several years now. The Big Hairy Monster space is cool, and the ladies do a super fine job of tackling my crazy curly tresses. I highly recommend it and am constantly dragging my friends in there to get killer cuts.

My head loves this place so very much. Suzanne is a miracle worker. BHM is a very relaxed atmosphere full of laughter and awesomeness. I have pretty difficult hair, and Suzanne doesn’t make a fuss over it, she just makes me look pretty amazing. I get compliments on my hair all day long. Some salons might give you some cheap wine, not here. Fresh, cold PBR. Sweet, sweet, new look and a little liquid courage and I ravaged the town. Watch out, here I come. Watch out boy, I’ll chew you up.

The Big Hairy Monster is a breath of fresh of fresh air in a bog of pretension. Most salons or barbers I have been to make a big deal out of being what they are; as if I am privileged just to be getting my hair cut there. BHM is not that way. Everyone is friendly and upbeat, the atmosphere is laid back, and my hair is always better than what I expected. I have had my hair cut in dozens of other places all over town and I can safely say that I will never have to try another salon again.

I located this hidden gem while poking around a book store and finding a «locals only» guide to Denver. By chance I ended up with a SWEET haircut with Holli, and have since returned regularly for trims and colors. Being a transplant to Denver, I’m so happy to have found such a great place with talented people. The atmosphere is great too! No frills with tons of local art! Hair salon meets art gallery!
