Worst experience at this bar! No wonder this place is getting so many bad reviews and bartender Becca, with the short black bob, is getting a lot of negative feedback as well. We also had the opportunity to experience her awful attitude for no reason and actually got publicly humiliated to top it off. A friend and I just wanted to stop in for a drink and play pool after a great night at a concert. After only being there for a few minutes playing pool, Becca stomps out of the restroom and accuses us for dirtying up her already disgustingly unkempt restroom. She continues to yell at us from the bar in front of the handful of customers there. We were publicly humiliated! She kept shouting to clean up after ourselves and shouting at us to «get the f*** out». That’s when we confronted her and said what she was doing was beyond rude and Barry should be appalled for her behavior towards his customers. Becca also had her 3 friends sitting at the bar and allowed her friends to do the same. They were all howling at us in front of the other customers to dirty up another restroom and to «get the f*** out». Based on the customer service alone, we will NOTEVER go there again. As a business owner myself, Barry should really consider getting rid of a bad egg before she ruins everybody else’s experience as well.

Wow! I’m surprised by all of the negative reviews! This place is definitely a dive bar. If you don’t like dive bars, I wouldn’t recommend it. I live in the neighborhood and this place is a nice break from all of the trendy, hipster places on Broadway. Drinks are decently priced and happy hour is great– $ 3 you call it! We also love swinging through to play some skee ball! The bartenders have always been great to us! I can’t complain. Fantastic people watching as well.

I had a terrible experience at Barry’s this last Wednesday. First of all, the female bartender working the bar with jet black bob was incredibly rude to me(for no reason) throughout the evening. Every time I asked for a drink, she appeared highly inconvenienced and annoyed, which I find funny since there was maybe 7 people total in the entire bar. .. On top of her being rude, my card was stolen with fraudulent charges within the two hours we had been at the bar. I had returned to the bar later in the evening, asked the same female bartender if I had left my card at the bar, she gave a very rude and abrupt NO. She didn’t check the books or the bar for my card, didn’t even ask for my name or number to call in case it was found. It’s highly suspicious and would highly recommend avoiding this bar on Broadway. Regardless of what happened to my card, based on customer service alone, I will NEVER go there again.

Had the misfortune of going to this bar Christmas night. I asked the bartender with the man bun if I could describe the drink I wanted and he said yes. I asked for a drink with a vodka or tequila base and some fruit juice. Finally, I asked that the drink be sweet. Completely deadpan, the bartender says to me, «you want a bitch drink» to which I replied«fuck you.» One of my friends thought the bartender had actually said mixed drink, so I clarified with him, «did you say mixed or bitch?» and he replied«BITCH.» Drink was not sweet, tl;dr will not be going back, do not recommend.

Definitely a dive bar, so know what you are getting into. The older man checking IDs at the front was extremely nice. The drinks are decent price. As a whole the place is very dark and is full of just large groups of guys. My friend and I tried to sit in multiple booths where no one was sitting only to find piles of jackets on the seats. we werent sure if people just left them there or were trying to claim booths. We closed tabs and moved on crossing Barry’s off the list of south Broadway bars to regularly visit.

Barry’s is a decent dive bar. Everything you need to have a great night out without all the fuss. The bathrooms are terrible, however everything else in Barry’s is not. Go check it out.

Great fun. Hello, skeeball! Came here Halloween night on my crawl down Broadway, and Barry’s is a total dive which is exactly what we wanted. Skeeball isn’t super cheap at 2 games for $ 1, and the runway is a little short. But I’m always up for a game(or ten) of skeeball so I had a blast. Pool is also fun for $ 1 a game. Nothin fancy, the marquee out front says it all.

This place is awesome. If anyone says differently, they’re a commie. I recommend befriending Zak if he’s around. He’s a close friend and pretty much the nicest person you’ll ever meet. Don’t order pizza(it’s microwaved, but do order jamo and a PBR; always cold).

Awesome no-fuss dive bar. My favorite spot on Broadway — it’s never shoulder-to-shoulder packed and you can always get a drink without waiting forever in line. The juke box has everything you could want. Only reason there’s not 5 stars is that there is only one bathroom for each men and women — having a couple stalls would help when it’s busy. I’m surprised by the reviews about the staff as I’ve never had an issue, personally!

Unfortunately I’ve only been to this bar once and would never go back. The blonde bartender. Terrible. Told my friends and I to «move our shit» so she could clean our table. Terrible attitude and most definitely shouldn’t be in any field regarding customer service.

Awful! When debating among the hundreds of options on Broadway during our vacation in Denver the bartender/turd coaxed us in with the promise of $ 3 «you call it’s.» We called it: whisky/sprite and brandy old fashioned sweet. We were given a sprite with a splash of VODKA(not whisky) and a WHISKY(not brandy) old fashioned and were charged 10 bones. He made zero of the drinks we asked for, yet still charged us double for some reason. When questioned about why we were overcharged and pulled into the bar under false pretenses, the bartender acted shifty and tried to avoid us. We called it: this place blows dick.

I am not really a fan. My boyfriend and I stopped in here after we had dinner at Go Fish across the street(which was awesome). What intrigued me was the sign out front saying they had skee ball, let me be clear, they had one skee ball machine, which was taken. I ordered us drinks, it was $ 12 for a Guinness and a well vodka diet. A bit steep for a place that smells like piss. We sat at the booth and did some entertaining people watching. We didn’t stay long since we would have a better atmosphere drinking at home. It took a while to close out my tab, bartenders seemed to have trouble keeping up. Not coming back.

Becca and James make this dimly lit hole in the wall a blast! Skeeball and a pool table as well as a cig machine give this bar a leg up on the other grungy bars on Broadway. Their week day happy hour is probably the best part of this place. $ 3 youcall it twice on weekdays and daily specials make up for any old carpet smell. I always meet friendly people when I go in alone and there is space enough for private conversations with a group. I find myself going back here and showing it to friends for the great pricing and prime location.

Love this bar. It’s one of my favorite dive bars on Broadway. Definitely play some skeeball. Apparently their martinis are great as well. You can’t drink for better or cheaper.

I LOVE this bar. It’s exactly what I need after a long day at work the bartenders — James, Sara, and Becca treat me like family. I feel like I’m on an episode of Cheers when I’m there. If you want a drink and laugh — oh yeah, plus a jukebox, it’s awesome.

My friends and I went there on Friday for two drinks and were ripped off due to deceptive drink special offers. The owner was a total jerk when we politely asked about the large difference in price between the $ 2 drinks they promote and the much higher price actually charged. Avoid this place. There are a LOT of other good bars in the area which are not trying to rip people off.

So I decided to go back to Barry’s after a long hiatus. To be honest I really wanted to experience first hand how rude the staff is from what I have read from other Unilocalers. Holy shit balls you folks were not kidding. Ha, the blond behind the bar was not a happy camper when I stacked 65 napkins in front of me for my beer, nor was she happy when asked her to break a dollar, then to break a quarter and so on. She wanted to smash my head thru a car windshield. On the bright side the short haired brunet was very cool and had a great smile on her face while i was there. I think her name was Becca. Anyway, I dig the space itself and the cool brunet bartender. I’ll be back to see if I can squeeze an extra star out of this palace of doom. Cheers Barry.

Ahh Barry’s… A divey bar is always a great place to while away a Saturday afternoon… This place is def divey… But there’s charm in that. dive bars have a charm all their own, they all evoke a sense of history. I guess it’s the romantic in me… always looking for beauty in all the unusual and sadly depressing… drinks are cheap, crowd steers toward the unusual… conversations are always fun… plus they have skee ball… and a decommissioned cigarette machine. We’ve been here a few times, it’s dark, the drinks are cheaper at happy hour(sailor jerry’s special) grab a booth near the back… just sit back and watch people come and go… it’s a pretty great way to waste an afternoon. STILL, it’s a dive bar, best to go in with few expectations and when you approach it from that perspective, you just might be surprised.

No, the staff isn’t particularly friendly to the non-regulars. That is definitely a theme in these reviews, and it’s true. Anyway, I definitely plan on going back. I think that a lot of bartenders can get burned out by how many drunk, rude assholes they have to deal with on a daily basis. Overall, the bar is fun, clean, and the beer is cheap. I can’t speak for the restrooms late-night(we were in for their early happy hour), but they were perfectly fine when we were there. They looked and smelled clean, so — no complaints. I love that they have booths… we were able to really sit back and relax over a couple of cheap beers. Since we’d just come from dining at Beatrice and Woodsley, I was super full and could barely force a beer down. So, I asked for a recommendation on a shot. The blonde bartender asked if either pineapple or strawberry sounded good, and we both elected to go with the pineapple. She made a great drink using pineapple, vanilla vodka, and soda. It was so good that I actually purchased all the ingredients from the liquor store on the same block, and made another when I got home. Yum! Barry’s also has ski-ball(just one, as noted previously in these reviews), and a pool table. The jukebox is fantastic — I don’t think we heard a bad song in the hour or so we were there. So, don’t show up expecting to have your ass kissed — and be sure to say«thank you» to the people serving you. :) I promise you, it’s appreciated…

I enjoy the fact that I’m not alone in despising this piece of sh*t bar! I thought that I did something wrong to the bartender, but apparently this is her normal disposition. The location is probably the best on Broadway, the space inside is not too bad, but this is where it ends. The bartender who seems to be working every time I come near is intolerabl at best, because of her piss poor attitude. I frequent Broadway bars once a month and every single time I have to vear away from this establishment because of the 5+ awful times I have had here. I recommend everyone else do the same don’t waste your time. Fire the chick and I might be back, otherwise forget it… plenty of other cool places on Broadway!
