Maybe this place gets busy during work days but it was pretty empty by noon on the weekend considering they serve breakfast sandwiches. I had a simple prosciutto and swiss cheese sandwich. It was prepared pretty quick and service was friendly. Sandwich was good but given the price for a simple sandwich I’m not sure I would go out of my way to return given all the other sandwich shops in the area.

This is a tasty place to grab a good sandwich with a nice variety that will make you happy. We ordered the Grand, with prosciutto, capocollo, sopressata, sharp provolone, tomato, tomato, romaine lettuce, garlic mayo, and house vinaigrette, coming from South Jersey, the home of The White House Sub Shop, where the best submarine sandwiches come from, I opted to forgo the house vinaigrette. This was a flavor powerhouse, what took it into the goodness category was the nice bite of the sharp provolone. We also ordered the Sherpa, with grilled eggplant, Asiago, sweet roasted pepper, tomato, romaine lettuce, garlic mayo. This was another sandwich that hit the spot. You can get these sandwiches toasted, we did, and if ordering the Grand again I would not toast it since it looses the textural component of the provolone when melted. Both were solid sandwiches, it fact we are having a family get together and are ordering sandwich trays for the get together. The only reason for them not getting a fifth star was that the coffee was somewhat murky and was not to my liking, also the location of the coffee, utensils, and napkins in a corner was to tight for more than one person to get there set up.

Consistently delicious! I usually opt for the soup + half sandwich combo. Love the roast beef sandwich! The black bean soup is excellent and quite filling. It gets crowded around lunch — to be expected considering it’s located off of 16th street. I’d recommend this place to anyone.

So so tasty. I come here for lunch all the time. Gets packed around noon so be prepared to wait — you can also try ordering online. I love the build your own sandwich option. A bit pricy but generally worth it because the food is so good.

As far as delis and sandwich shops go, this is one of the best in the downtown area. Excellent selection of sandwiches, soups and daily specials. My go-to is the Little Italy, add tomato and avacado.

Veggie Sherpa is my favorite here. Good place for lunch. The cashiers are super fast. Cheap and best option for sandwich and salads

Really good veggie sandwiches. No veggie protein though — that would be awesome! The sourdough bread was great and nice and soft. It’s fun to people watch out the window while you enjoy your sandwich.

This sandwich place is AWESOME. The hubs and I have gotten sandwiches to go multiple times, and everything has always been so yummy. I’ve gotten the Sherpa(vegetarian with eggplant), Fourteener(roast beef/blue cheese), Ridgeline(turkey/cheddar/avocado/bacon), and Turkey Trailhead(turkey/swiss/avocado). All sandwiches have super high quality ingredients, and the flavors are artfully crafted. They are a wee bit pricey, but the sandwiches are also really big — so I think the value ends up being there. Highly recommend if you are in the area!

Backcountry certainly serves its’ purpose. It’s located in the business district close enough to Union Station. It caters to a professional crowd, yet functions as a laid back warm getaway from the office. They have cheap beer on tap. They have a plethora of sandwich and soup selections, all of which I tasted were delicious. Friendliness to Unilocalers certainly helps too! Only downside is the slightly overpriced menu and extended wait times. If you work in Denver, come in here for lunch. If you’re waiting at Union Station and are in a bind with time, absolutely come in here for lunch!

Solid sandwiches. Very tasty and lots of options. But a little pricey. If their prices were 10−20% lower, they would get 4 stars. You shouldn’t have to pay $ 12+ for a lunch sandwich and a drink.

One of the best sandwich shops I’ve ever been to. Each time I show up, they continue to impress me with the quality of the food.

If you want the most mouth watering, incredibly savory sandwich come here! … Or don’t because you’ll plan you’re entire trip around this place! Breakfast… Yup! They’ve got it! Lunch… Dinner… That’s what I’m saying. Anything with chilies, turkey and cheese are right up my alley. They also have vegetarian options and I’ve heard their eggplant sandwich is incredible!

I got to taste Backcountry Delicatessen sandwiches and soups via a Unilocal event. The soup I had was very tasty, and I especially liked the Bushwacker sandwich. It’s a curry chicken salad on very good bread, different from your regular sandwich and really, really good! They have a wide selection of sandwiches, and if it’s not enough, you can even build your own!

Go for the Capicola sandwich, or the chicken salad sandwich, or the Vegetarian Soup. Yummy!

BackCountry Delicatessen was excellent! Really fresh and clean food. I had the smoked ham, with a bunch of toppings on the French Baguette! Their chipotle mayo was outstanding. I added the potato salad which is made fresh! Sean was working the register and was extremely friendly and welcoming. Got a free cookie as a first timer there and they had a check in promo for a free drink! I would highly recommend this deli! Next time I’m gonna try their pulled pork. They also serve the hot breakfast sandwiches all day and have a frequent dining card.

Shout out to one of my favorite sandwich shops in Denver! I ordered online(very easy) however, I made a mistake and the order registered as pick up rather than delivery. I promptly got a call just to clarify and to meet the minimum I ordered another sandwich and asked if they could deliver… yes and yes. They are always quick and the sandwiches are delicious. Thanks for making our lazy office well-fed with your delivery option. The Pilgrim is my jam, but I’ve had many other menu items and have never been disappointed. Thanks again for being my delicious go-to delivery sandwich joint when too busy at work to get out.

Our first day in Denver we were so exhausted from our drive and wanted to order some takeout. After browsing on line we decided to try their sandwiches. Omg they were so delicious. They were so good we ordered again the next week when we were having a lazy day. We tried the pilgrim and Sherpa both toasted. Pilgrim is holiday goodness melting in your mouth and Sherpa was a hearty flavorful vegetarian sandwich and you didn’t miss not having meat at all. Not too many ingredients or too much sauce yuck. Good bread and quality ingredients is what makes their sandwich so good.

Another disappointing sandwich in Denver. I’ve been looking for a real sandwich ever since I moved here a few years ago and I’m sad to say this place doesn’t have it. They actually have good bread but the amount of meat/cheese/toppings in the sandwich is so little you basically end up eating mostly bread. If they increased the portions on the inside I may bump this to 3 or 4. Also, the potato salad sucked.

This is the best lunch spot in LoDo. The sandwiches are a little more expensive than your typical lunch spot but they sacrifice cheap prices for quality ingredients. Every time I walk into this place I can feel my endorphin level rising due to the delicious smells and great atmosphere. If you’re looking for a quick filling breakfast, I recommend any of their hot breakfast sandwich options. All are delicious and the bacon is to die for. On top of the great food, the customer service is phenomenal. Ryan is a great dude and so are all of the employees. I continually come back to this place for tremendous food and great vibes. This place is run by good people. I’ve been to this establlishment more times than I can count and have never once had a bad experience.

Backcountry Delicatessen was pretty solid. We didn’t realize it was a franchise, we later saw a bunch more. It turned up in a search for deli sandwiches. My husband and I shared the Reuben. It was pretty good. Definitely better than we anticipated. The black bean soup was enjoyed too. Their chocolate chip cookie hit the spot and I loved the pomegranate ice tea.

Not only do they make a fantastic sandwich(great soups too), they also have amazing customer service. This is one of our top spots for downtown work lunch. We typically get it to-go and head back to the office. Their specials are always unique and I haven’t been disappointed by the flavor combos yet. My favorite is still the Bushwhacker(curry chicken salad) with the Backcountry Cuban in a close second. My friend loves the Pinnacle(the BC version of a Rueben). The sandwiches don’t disappoint and neither does their focus on customer satisfaction. The place gets busy and the lines get long but they consistently deliver quality food quickly. Once there was a mistake with my order which I didn’t realize until I got back to the office. I called and explained, during the lunch rush hour, and they had the correct order delivered to my office within 20minutes. That was way more than I would have expected and frankly I was impressed in this era of dying customer service. Still love this place.

Here’s the deal. Went in with a buddy for lunch at 12:30 one afternoon. It was packed, which is a good sign, right? It means they must be good. I ordered the High Plains + prosciutto because that’s gods gift to sandwiches. It came out well, though it felt a little light on the prosciutto. Yes, I know, it’s expensive. But man do I want cured pork products in my mouth at just about all times. Inside of the place is average, good sandwiches, it’s fine. I don’t think it’s quite as amazing as everyone else does, but it’s worth a stop. It’s slightly on the pricey side, but you’re downtown so that’s just sort of contextually appropriate. Only in downtown Denver does the price of a Coors Light equal that of a microbrew, you know what I mean? I digress. The biggest reason this place gets 3 stars instead of 4 was the 25 minute wait. Yes, I know it’s the middle of the lunch rush, but with 8 people working behind the counter, I was kind of bummed that it took 25 minutes to get a single sandwich. Despite all that, I was a fan, and I’ll be going back. But I’ll be trying something new and won’t be going within an hour of the lunch rush…
