Stopped by tonight wanting the bacon wrapped shrimp and this location is closed! What a loss. Now there is just the pedestrian cookie cutter Mexican jokes er joints in Denton.

Driven by a few times and met a friend there for lunch. My new favorite Mexican restaurant in Denton! So pleased went there a few days in a row to introduce others. Food was fresh and delicious. Not many waitstaff but ours was attentive and friendly. Hope this one stays around a good long while.

Really fresh tasting food and very attentive service. My wife had the Spinach Enchiladas and I had the Chicken Fajitas. Both were amazing. Highly recommend this place!

Very delicious. We had the chicken fajita relleno and the Maya tacos(very spicy) and both were great. We also liked that a warm bean dip is brought out with the chips and salsa. The iced tea was also good, which is something we thought was important to note.

Pedro’s! Yummy vegan options here! Spinach enchiladas(great, although a little on the salty side) and veggie fajitas are on the menu, but my favorite dish was the Maya tacos modified with veggies instead of beef… I got back a beautiful plate of tacos made with zucchini, peppers, carrots and some other good stuff. Be sure to ask for no cheese if vegan, and the beans contain chunks of meat. The pico was the best I’ve ever had(very fresh!) and the guac was amazing. Chips(the good kind!) are served with refried black beans and fresh salsa. They also have homemade sangrias(very strong red wine in this…). Everything we had was supposedly gluten free, but my celiac mom got a little sick after eating here. I’m very gluten sensitive and was seemingly fine. Great food though, and I was impressed with the veggie options — we’ll be back.

Review Update! Originally when I went to Pedro’s, I gave them 4 stars and a positive review. I figured it’s better to play it safe, right? I mean they hadn’t been open very long, the food was good, but that can be an aberration rather than the norm. So I went with it. My girlfriend and I went back there tonight. And just like the first time, it was fantastic. We went reasonably early for a Friday, around 6 or so. Our poor waiter(Fred) was a delight, though the guy seemed to be pulled in a dozen different directions. Maybe more help was coming for the 7 o clock shift, I don’t know. Regardless of all that however, he provided excellent service. If he reads this, I hope he knows how much I appreciated it, although his tip should have told him all he needed to know. The first time we visited I ordered a dish called«Paul’s Chicken». Since I’m named Paul, and an insufferable egomaniac, it made perfect sense. It was delicious. Tonight I ordered a dish called Emilly’s Pollo Con Hongos, and it was just as wonderful. Finely sauteed mushrooms and onions atop a succulent piece of chicken breast, seasoned to perfection and served fajita style on a sizzling skillet plate. Every bite was a joy and I cannot wait to return to Pedro’s for our inevitable third visit. Tonight I also tried their house Margarita and it would rank high among my favorite Margaritas. I normally only drink one, or half of one. The citrus of the lime hits my stomach and does bad things. But this drink was smooth and perfectly balanced. I hate to say it, but I think they took the crown from my usual Tex-Mex favorite on this one. Well done Pedro’s! This place is a hidden gem. Located slightly off the Denton downtown square and a bit out of the way, but it’s worth looking up. First appearances might make you think it’s a bit of a dive, but the flavors and the food are what is important. And that is where Pedro’s Tex-Mex delivers. Let’s be honest here, you can throw a stone in Texas and hit 3 Tex-Mex places and I’ve been to most of them. But Pedro’s stands tall as one of the better choices in Denton. I give them the fifth star proudly and am eager to return. :) As a post script I want to say, the dessert menu features mini-sopapillas. If you are in the mood for a sweet treat, these are fantastic. Crispy, cooked to perfection, and not at all doughy like so many Sopapillas often are at other places. We shared an order and every bite was like a little pillow from Heaven. Cheers!

Very good, authentic, and Tex-Mex food. The chips and salsa, with black bean dip were much better than many in Denton. There are a wide array of items to choose from, from appetizers, to lunch, and dinners. I had the Tacos Maya. 3 fresh corn tortillas with a big portion of well seasoned, but slightly over done shredded beef. Accompanied by perfect guacamole and pico. My biggest disappointment was the Mexican rice, which did not appear to be as freshly made as the rest of the plate. The bowl of fresh beans were delicious, and the iced tea was fresh. The service was wonderful, from the greeting by the owner, to the two friendly waitresses that never let my drink get past ½ empty. With entrée, drink, and 20% tip you“ll pay around $ 20 per person. A little pricey for Denton, but compared to the more well known, El Guapo, well worth the extra money. Very strong recommendation.
