Hickory & Fry

My boyfriend and I love this place. Great spot to start your night. Don’t ask for a vodka soda or PBR here, simply tell the bartender that you want a custom made cocktail with one of their infused liquors. They’ve never surprised me with a drink I didn’t like and all the bartenders are friendly and fun.

Aaron was awesome, and the food exceeded our expectations. The prices were beyond reasonable, especially for the quality. Nice atmosphere too. We are definitely coming back!

Fabulous infused liquors and great service! Got the rosemary honey infused gin with lemon per Brad’s recommendation and was not disappointed! Loved the ambiance and outdoor patio.

Food. Drinks. Atmosphere. Amazing! You have to try Better than tea home remedy. It’s sweet but doesn’t give that fuzzy teeth feeling that most sweet cocktails give!

I have become addicted to Hickory & Fry and I’m not ashamed to admit it. Every time I go in, the service is wonderful and the atmosphere is just as lovely.
I’ve been in 3 times this past week just to satiate my craving of their breakfast tacos (the chorizo is to die for!). Also the cheese board is full of flavors and never leaves you unsatisfied.
They also have their own little ray of sunshine by the name of Rashana (I think that’s how you spell it) with adorable curly hair and a brain full of yummy recommendations.
Oh AND the most delicious part: It’s not super expensive! It’s what I call «culinary taste on a college girl budget» haha.

This place is great. My husband and I have found ourselves wondering in the past few Sunday evenings for DELICIOUS cocktails and very creative small plates. The BB&B is one of my favorite cocktails, and only $ 6. They also have off the chain beer prices. We are always so amazed when we see our tab and how cheap it is! Great bartenders, great atmosphere. We had some candied pork belly potato skins and kangaroo nachos last time, and everything was done right. It’s hard to find good food In Denton, but these guys know what’s up. All in all, I don’t have anything bad to say about this place!

I went here just to grab a beer and read a book on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Great outdoor seating, chill vibe, good beer selection and a few options to snack on. Def will be coming back here and would highly recommend others to do the same!

We stopped here for a drink while we waited for another place to open at 3 last Saturday and now we’re back this weekend continuing our birthday week celebrations. They have a really neat thing going on here. Tons of real fruit infused spirits and a really unique menu. We only had the french fries because we were eating small bits at lots of places. They were absolutely delicious and we ate every single one. Crispy, fresh, hot, and very well seasoned. Tell him what kind of drink you enjoy and let him make you something!

I really hate to give a bad review of this place because I really do want it to succeed, but I was disappointed with the place. I ordered beer and queso and the queso took forever to come out of the kitchen and was served without chips. It came with flat, round taco shells that were not tasty. I also ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and the cheese on it was not good. I hope that if I return to this place, it will be a good experience! The vibe inside is kind of cool and it’s next to Fry Street, which is also nice.

Something different for denton! I didn’t try any drinks, but the food is tasty! They were very friendly as I asked for specifics on my food. I will definitely be back! It also has a nice out door patio and bar! Love the cheeseburger tacos!

Hickory & Fry is the classy bar of Fry street. In many ways it reminds me of Paschall’s bar on the Denton square: smaller venue, handcrafted drinks, and a little bit more expensive. Hickory & Fry does serve food and it is quite good and reasonably priced. I had their burger with frys at lunch recently with an iced tea. Total came out to be about $ 10. The only bad thing about the bar is it is very small and the bar is somewhat awkwardly placed. I think what Hickory & Fry needs to do (in order to not close down in 6 months) is buy the empty space next to it and expand. At its current state there isn’t really room for groups larger than 3 people. Good food, good drinks, but small and cramped.

The food and drinks are delicious! I had the Alliance Aviator and it was strong but sweet. They make their own maraschino cherries, I could literally eat a jar of those on the couch.
Definitely recommend. My only concern was the food was a bit slow.

I think you have to come into this bar with a different mindset than you would with most bars in this area. If you plan on not heading down that way because of the scene down there, plan again.
The first thing i noticed was how small this place is. The problem isn’t so much that there isn’t any room, but there is no room to get a drink in front of the bar. If the room that you first walk into is already full you can’t make it to the other side because there is no space in front of the bar to walk by the people getting a drink. With that said, in the summer time they can open the garage doors, which would just make everything perfect.
They have food here. Rare kangaroo nachos, yes please! Here is the problem with that. While i’m thinking i’m getting a mound of nachoes i get FIVE chips with kangaroo on them. I have no problem with this & i get that kangaroo is expensive, but come on man! AT LEAST put on your menu that it is five chips, excellent none the less.
The drinks & service is where this place really shines. The «BBB» drink is outstanding. Easily one of the best drinks in Denton. All the other drinks i’ve had were above par. If i was starting my night i would go here first.
This area might not be the area you are looking for when you think of the finer drinks. While the selection of high end liquors isn’t quite there the drinks, the drinks themselves are of excellent taste. Go give this place a try.

My oh my, it’s not a sports bar on Fry! In fact, Hickory & Fry is quite the delightful little unexpected cocktail bar near campus. In All About Mac’s old space, they’ve crammed in a giant bar, a few tables, a delightful drink menu. Definitely not a space for big groups, but perfect for some small time sipping of quality libations. I look forward to seeing how the space feels once it warms up and they can open their garage door window wall. It’s pretty dang cramped in there and hard to get past the bar in a crowd, but the drinks were worth it. We also sampled some of the grub– who can resist trying kangaroo nachos?! Everything we had was delicious and I’ll definitely be back when it warms up.
