Visited TOLA Café with my brother and dad for a quick lunch. The food overall was good, but not spectacular, and the service left something to be desired. Everything on the menu funds great, but I doubt I will make the drive to Denham to try anything else. I had originally wanted a shrimp po-boy, but the waitress told me that the kitchen doesn’t grill the shrimp, and I had to get it fried. I know the menu said FRIED, but it never hurt to ask, especially with people becoming more health conscious and requesting healthier options. I asked why they couldn’t grill the shrimp, and she said that the shrimp weren’t fresh, but already battered and pre frozen so they just pop it in the fryer. One user said they get their seafood from China, which is believable… and absolutely unacceptable for LOUISIANA. My brother ordered a burger which looked good, but the friend tasted like the kitchen hasn’t changed the frying oil in a while, or uses the same oil as the other pre-frozen items on the menu. Which isn’t an issue, but what if the guest was a vegan? My dad ordered the crawfish eutofee, which was delicious actually, and a side of white bean which were a little bland and stale tasting. His dish also came with said friend shrimp, which actually tasted OK. But I couldn’t tell if they were pre-butterflied and battered in-house and frozen to save time, or already came to the restaurant like that. I ended up ordering one crab cake, which was fresh –tasting with nice large chunks of crab and not a lot of other fillers, but it left something to be desired. Now the roulade sauce was the best thing about my visit — I could eat that stuff by the gallon! The feta sales that the guests beside our table looks pretty good, and I would have ordered one if I didn’t realize that the crab cake was on the small side.

Had lunch here today. Food was ok, service was horrible. They had 20 customers walk out due to the lack of help and getting the tables cleaned and customers seated. They definitely need to hire more help The owner was there and didn’t seem to care that she had money walking out the door.

Cute little hidden gem in Denham Springs. While searching for antiques down the street, you can stop in and grab a quick meal for lunch. Friendly service and great food! It was so good! I went two days in a row. The roast beef and gravy is to die for! And if you order a burger, well, I hope you are hungry because they are huge! I’ve never seen a burger that big in my life!

I’ve only been here twice but the food was very good both times. Large portions but A little pricy. I’m ok with paying a lil more when the food is good!

Me and friend were road tripping from Florida to Texas, and we wanted to try Cajun food while we were in Louisiana. When I searched for food on our route I found this place. It was about 10 minutes out of our way in a cute downtown area. The place was clean and the staff friendly. My friend ordered the Crawfish Étouffée and I got the Crawfish Moulon. Both were fantastic! The sauce the crawfish all great. Our meals also came with delicious garlic bread. I would defiantly eat here again if I’m in the area.

Shrimp and crawfish from China, really? No reservations allowed on Friday night? Only 2 other customers there at 7:30PMSHOULDHAVEKNOWNWHATWASCOMING. Mac & cheese wasn’t as good as Kraft out of the box, crab cakes tasted like pasteurized crabmeat. The highlight of the meal? French fries. Obviously good reviews were written by the uneducated palate. I’m not going back, so sad a restaurant like this in this area of great food.

We pulled off the highway looking for good Cajun food and after a drive off the highway we came upon TOLA and what a friendly place with great food. We will return on our next trip across LA.

We stopped in after browsing through the stores in the antique district. We were hungry and looking for some filling food before continuing our shopping. This place hit the spot! This is good southern eating. Po boys on fluffy bread w/perfectly fried fresh catfish or shrimp. The corn and shrimp soup was good to, filled w/whole shrimp.

This is a great, local, family-owned place. Really interesting menu with some South Louisiana staples and some with a twist. Bread is great and may be made in house. The burgers are incredible! Great seafood entrees, soups and salads. And really great beer prices, especially on the specials!
