Mr. Dave is the proprietor of the Ridiculous Food Society of Upstate New York. If you ask him, he would say it’s a hack blog. But he has had a recipe published in a cookbook, and has been featured in the New York Times. Things he has written about have later come up on SeriousEats, and more than anybody else, he is a chronicler of all culinary things amazing and strange about the Capital Region. Mr. Dave has an incredible eye. He can go into a Price Chopper and find phantasmagorical items on the shelves that simply elude detection from most human eyeballs. It was from his blog that I came to discover the amazing potato chips fried in lard that were hiding in plain sight at my local Hannaford. He also cures meat and makes meat loaf and mashed potato sculptures into cultural relevant icons. The word genius comes to mind. Probably in the context of mad genius. But that’s still genius.
