I’m currently on a mission for a little kitten so I’ve been all over the area trying to find one that my family likes. It’s not as easy seeing that many if not all of these tiny killers are in cages. Cages means that it’s harder to judge personality. Ie. I adopted a kitten a few years ago with my mother and she had the sweetest face but seemed reserved. She ended up being the meaniest little kitty you’d ever meet. It wasnt until after we got her home that we realized; no worries though, Nala live with my mom in NJ and has a great… no petting… life. She’s happy and thats what matters.
SO…this place is a little different. Instead of cages I was greated by a room full of cats and kitten running around and playing… socializing! Really perfect and great for someone who is looking for a certain kind of personality. I have a dog and three bunnies at home so finding the perfect little kitty is key for us so that everyone gets along.
I did notice, however, that the staff seems to be a bit on the reserved side. When we went to go ask for info on two of the younger cats no one seemed to know anything. Shame. I really like them too. No info is a ‘no go’ for us. Anything would have been better then nothing. We might be back here to check the kitties out again, hopefully soon.

Awesome shelter for cats, dogs, small animals and they even help horses. They do an annual rabies clinic for around $ 6, we get our dogs in and out in minutes through the barn outside.
Adopting a dog is only around $ 100 with vaccinations, spay/​neuter and microchip. What a deal!
The volunteers could be rude like anyone else, but they are VOLUNTEERS. Constantly helping people come in and browse through animals desperate for a home, some of those people demanding to be waited on like a high end pet shop. They are working for nothing except the satisfaction they get with the animals. I did it myself, cleaning cages and walking dogs; it was the ;most satisfying job ever :)
They keep a good photo listing of available cats and dogs on their website. You can also register on their wish list, if your desired breed comes into the shelter they can call you. Remember fur friends are forever :)

We were entertaining the idea of getting a dog, so we decided to pay the shelter a visit. We met a lot of potential dogs, but ultimately gave up because neither of us would’ve had the time or the energy to work with one and give it a good life.
The shelter facilities are actually pretty nice. The cats are kept in community rooms versus cages, and while you know they aren’t happy, they’re not hiding. The dog kennels could be labeled better, but the kennels are clean and the dog yards are huge. Definitely one of the nicest animal shelters I’ve visited.

My partner wanted to adopt a dog, so we came to check out who was there. The land is spacious with plenty of room to exercise the dogs in. There were probably about 20 or so dogs here and 30 cats. I found a little basset hound puppy to walk who I thought would be perfect. As we returned to the main building a volunteer came outside and semi yelled at us for having the puppy outside. «She’s a puppy and she can’t be outside. Look ! She’s all tangled up in the leash!» Holy shit really? If the dog isn’t supposed to be outside, put a sign on her kennel like the others. I felt bad but when we returned her, the kennel wasn’t marked properly at all. If volunteers are going to be rude, it’s gonna be tough for people to want to adopt from them.
