My name is Chance Eldridge. I am a 23 yr veteran in the martial arts, I have a third degree black belt in karate, a fourth degree in muay thai, 1st degree in ju jitsu, and now a 1st degree in Tae Kwon do through master Murphy. I have been to many different schools, both her in Wisconsin and in other states, and I have not been in a more comfortable atmosphere ever. His ability to work with kids is one of the best I’ve seen in a long time, his knowledge of martial arts is amazing. I suggest that if you were thinking of going there to check the school out don’t read any of these reviews just go down and check the school out and talk to Mr. & Mrs. Murphy and get a feel for their character and personality in person rather then reading about them. But if they are amazing people it’s not just a school it’s a family and a way of life Thank you.

I have several friends in this martial arts institution, and have attended a number of tests, demos, and community events put on by Master Murphy and his classes, and have to say, everything the 1-star reviews on here seems to be true. The building is a disaster – missing ceiling tiles, ancient newspaper clippings glued to the walls to cover chipping paint, cat-filled carpet, and chairs for audience/family members that look, feel, and smell like they came from dumpsters. The instructor doesn’t improve the ambiance. He’s the sort of man who runs his own business not because he’s an innovative entrepreneur, but because he’d be totally unemployable by anyone else. He is desperate for an audience, and uses anyone he can corner for the purpose, regaling everyone who can’t escape with tasteless jokes and stories about how incredibly clever he is and how impressed he is sure people are by his cleverness. His interactions with children are limited to talking at them in a loud voice, and pretending to grab at them if that doesn’t get him enough of a reaction. If a child is shy, or put off by his behavior, he simply does more of it – his ability to read people or adapt to make them more comfortable doesn’t seem to exist. The waiting area is full of books, some by convicted and imprisoned felons(no, really), about how dinosaurs are imaginary and the earth is 6,000 years old. The tests and demos themselves are badly run – it appears the instructor makes up what should happen next on the spot, leading to long waits while people locate equipment that wasn’t ready and try to prepare to do things they haven’t had an opportunity to practice. Nothing is ever begun or finished by a predictable time. Nothing I’ve seen from the instructor or the school would make me want to study there.
