Hey, call ahead and see what Mary is cooking. The food is good and fresh. I have only been there once and had the chicken. You can sit inside at the one table or take it out like most people. I sat inside and Mary joined me at the table. Delightful lady!

I dream of Mary’s, I crave Mary’s, I might drive 5 hours just to get Mary’s. My kids still talk about Mary’s and ask if we can go back. Um, not sure we can drive 10 hours round trip just for a meal. But spring break is coming. Seriously that good. Wish Disneyland was close to Delano. Seriously one of the best meals we’ve ever had. Must try if you love delicious, mouth-watering, home cooked food. Ah, home sweet home. Move closer Miss Mary! xo!

What a find! Homemade, hot chicken and dumplings with warm rolls. Mary’s is located behind the Arco/am pm gas station just off 99. Hidden, but locals know where she is. Nice staff, too

You are in your grandmother’s kitchen when you stop at this little gem! We hit the jackpot here and feel like family with Mary’s other customers bustling in and out to pick up lunch. All home cookin’ made with love, like, on a whole other level. Cruising up highway 99 looking for passable food, and God himself directed us to Mary’s Heavenly Bites! Thank you God!

I was fairly new to Delano when I first saw the sign for Mary’s restaurant. I stopped inside on my way home to check it out. I ended up ordering a glass of homemade lemonade, sampling her candied yams(which were delicious), and just chatting with Mary. I knew then that I must order dinner from there sometime, and, about a week later, I did. I called to order dinner and inquired about delivery(I didn’t have a car at the time). She prepared a mouth-watering, home cooked dinner for me and my boyfriend… AND she delivered it for us! It was delicious and enough food to feed an army! Mary is such a sweet, kind hearted woman, and her food is pure perfection. Definitely stop in if you get the chance… a place like this is a rare find.

If you are in Delano and eating a fast food dinner instead of Mary’s then you made a mistake. This is truly as others have said, a hidden gem. This is a «Huell Howser» type location. I just finished my dinner, let me tell you about it. First Tip and I had no problem finding ITISBEHINDAM /PM next to the immigration lawyer. A shout out to my tocayo Aaron V with the HOTTIP: CALLTHEMAHEAD. It’s Delano, you never know if they went to the store or??? Also, your food is not waiting on a hot shelf, she needs to prepare a plate… or fry you a chicken. Just call. I called, randomly at 5:15 or so. I am in town on business and everything here is very meh except for this place… just check the Unilocal ratings. Just finished my «Prato Feito» —(ready plate) dinner: pot roast with gravy, mashed potatoes(REALMASHEDPOTATOESON A TUESDAY), vegetable medley, and a roll. $ 10 out the door. Real food, real meat, real potatoes, real veg, served by a real small business owner. This is a real deal. A fake footlong meal deal is $ 8 – 9 bucks. My plate with 5x the weight in(real) beef alone was $ 10. Your stomach will do the math for you. Why would you eat fast food when this is available? Do you want to be served by someone who actually wants to feed you? Do you want to help Main Street /small business instead of corporate America? My meal was fantastic, this place is a gem, if you are even remotely thinking about food, you should call and order a plate.

Delano’s hidden gem is Mary’s Heavenly Bites. Talk about hidden, although we had information Mary’s Heavenly Bites was behind the Cecil Avenue Am/Pm, we still drove right past 1612 Ellington Street. This tiny two small table restaurant had home cooked soul food or Filipino food at it’s best. I had the pork ribs and barbecue chicken combination with fried corn, potato salad, fresh baked sourdough rolls. The ribs and chicken were so flavorful we did not need sauce. Her side dishes were on point. Would we be back? Absolutely.

Mary’s Heavenly bites was recommended, by the hotel I was staying at, unfortunately it was was closed the first night I went to it. I went the following day and I was not disappointed. I had Thanksgiving dinner in June. Melt in your mouth, turkey, white and dark meat, mashed potatoes, homemade dressing, cranberry sauce, and fresh vegetables. Delicious. The following day I returned and had the pork chops, with dressing, asparagus and corn. The portion size was dead on considering I weigh about 280 lbs. I did not go home hungry, and the price was right. I’m not a big dessert person, but I could not resist the red velvet cupcakes the first night, and the pudding cake the and red velvet cup cakes the second night. If you are tired of eating fast food and want a good Olé, down home cooked meal with love, try Mary’s.

We stopped by Delano on our way home from Yosemite. Searched Unilocal and found Mary’s based on the rave reviews. It was late so I called to see if the place was still open. Even though Mary was closed and preparing for her catering order for the next day, she insisted that we stop by and she will make us fried chicken(if we like fried chicken) while we get gas. Took us a few drive by to find the place(right behind AMPM and hidden next to an immigration office with a big sign). Even though the place is a ‘hole in the wall’ small, and we had only one menu choice, our homemade fried chicken and trimmings were just heavenly!!! Mary had fresh lemons so she even made us a pitcher of perfect, fresh lemonade. We felt like we stopped by our grandmother’s for a delightful, home cooked meal. Mary couldn’t of been more hospitable and kind. Our 8 year old is looking forward to visiting Mary’s again during our next trip to Yosemite(and so are we)!

Great little gem in Delano. Hidden behind the AMPM on Cecil Ave. Small little kitchen, but well enough to produce awesome food. I typically call ahead and see what Mary has to offer or make a request. Love that! Be sure to try the fried Catfish! Seasoned/breaded to perfection. That alongside her wonderful coleslaw and you can’t go wrong. BBQ ribs are also stellar choices. They also offer Filipino food which is great as well.

Delano, California is my hometown where I grew up. From time to time I stop in to visit family, the town’s ethnicity consist majority Mexicans and Filipinos. So other than eating at your average fast food joints, there is this small place hidden from the main drag Cecil avenue called Mary’s Heavenly Bites… But this time it’s soul food. Food that I’m not always around. I’m Filipino & Mexican, and if you have tried our foods then you know other foods require to be rich in taste. I tired the jambalaya and all I can say is oh! Lordy Lord delicious! The homemade strawberry cake? Delicious again! She has a few selections but, I tell you they were fantastic. I will definitely save room in my belly for this treat on my next visit! This is a must try.
