Great food and even better service! We were just passing thru Deland and happened across this little gem of a restaurant. The fried green tomatoes were awesome and the homemade hush puppies were really good too. Also, enjoyed the shrimp and gator bites a lot.

Foremost, our service was friendly, efficient and fun, thanks Tara. We all enjoyed our meals. From the chowder to the lobster and a lot in between, it was all good and we will visit again. We had a party of 8 from various locations and we had a great time. The chowder was good, not quite as thick as I like it but the flavor was all there We all liked the fried green tomatoes but the favorite was the catfish. They were the highlight.

What a great find! This is truly a destination. Very Florida. The gator bites are delicious. And the clam chowder was yummy too. Sam was one of the best servers we have ever had. He even let our little kids feed the fish. The key lime pie and chocolate cake were great! My husband and I will definitely be back.

Just love scouting out different eating establishments. Again found this one on Unilocal.Passed it a few times on way to beach. Never stopped until now. Always up for something interesting. My experience is that dive bars/restaurants have the best food. Didn’t look like much from outside. Well doesn’t look like much from the inside either. Ordered from specials board. Felt like lobster. After all it is called the lobster pot. Started with clam chowder. Home made and good but should be called potato chowder. Also came with house salad, ok. Special was about $ 20. Came with baked potato. Lobster tail was great. Could of eaten another one. Will come again. Shrimp next time.

This has some of the best crab legs I’ve ever had! Let’s start with the clam chowder which was okay. It had alot of fresh clam in it but I prefer my chowder a little creamier. The salad was simple but the ranch dressing made it a lot better. I had the prime rib and crab legs. The prime rib was excellent! The prime rib was about 10 oz and one really good size cluster of crab for $ 24.95.Very, very tender and very tasty! The cluster was just perfectly cooked and moist. Some places can cook shellfish and some just can’t do it. This place knows what they are doing! The prime rib combo also came with clam chowder, salad and baked potatoe. It was a really great price for all the food you get. They also have officially the BEST hushpuppies I’ve ever tasted! They are a little sweet tasting. Chrissy our server is extremely proficient and even made me herself creamy horseradish when they didn’t have any and it was just perfect! My partner had a cheeseburger with french fries and said it was very good. The building is very old and really needs some updating but if you can push that to the side you will enjoy some really good food! We will definitely be back soon :)

My husband and I returned last Sunday for a second visit 1÷11÷15. We arrived at 7:57pm almost the exact time of our last visit, their sign said open until 9pm. We were greeted by two younger men and one was cleaning a table off and said ‘we are closed sorry’ this was also repeated by the other man. I said well we just drove a little over 30 minutes because it says online that you’re open until 9pm. They laughed and joked around that we could help them clean up in exchange for a couple beers!!! Are you freaking kidding me! ?!? Obviously I drove out there to have seafood and not to be laughed at by two immature grown men. I called today to talk to the manager who wouldn’t even get on the phone instead I had to tell the hostess about the bad experience who apologized and said they often close early. So I would just like to warn anyone who might make the journey that they don’t keep regular hours.

Mine was good and it was fresh. I had their famous casserole. Good price for lunch and the chowder was fair enough. The hush puppies were good and sweet as was the cole slaw. The fried Mahi was fresh but bland. Grilled shrimp was good, too. Definitely surprised but located off an odd highway type street. I wouldn’t have known or gone if it wasn’t for my mother-in-law. Definitely a quaint hole-in-the-wall but a good find in Deland.

All of the food there was frozen! They shouldn’t even be allowed to serve seafood and charge 25 bucks a plate. My husband and I split a plate and we couldn’t even stomach it. Shrimp was frozen, the fish taste like chicken, the hush puppies were even horrid. We all feel taken advantage of and pretty sick to our stomachs. Save yourself some money and go to captain d’s and get the same quality of food!

Country Crock for substitute butter ! ! For the premium prices I was surprised at this. Buffalo shrimp I had — the buffalo sauce may have been stale or something they had zero flavor ! ! ! I had a Maine lobster special — it came served outside the shell and the actual tail looked flattened out for some reason. It was bland about 6 oz. for $ 19.95 — live and learn I won’t be going back.

Just like the last review says, from the outside looking in you think«Oh hell no, food poisoning here you come» but give it a chance! Amazing food for a amazing price. Great service, local hangout, locally recommended. Try it you won’t regret it.

To be honest I really didn’t want to eat here as I was nervous about eating at a place off the road but… what a great place. I got the coconut shrimp and never have eaten such tasty coconut shrimp, you can actually taste the coconut. Next was the Coquille St JC which was delicious. The cheese over the seafood and delicate wine sauce.yum.Do not hesitate to visit the Lobster pot I am happy I did.

I have been here twice when I am visiting from Colorado. This little joint or even shack is fantastic. It is family owned and the food is consistently good as is the service. They start you off with some good chow’da and then a salad and then dinner is served. I had that dish which is shrimp, scallops, lobster, and crab in a white wine cream sauce holy amazing.

If given one word to describe this place it would be «shortcuts». Everything was frozen. I had the«Coquille» which was a throwback to my childhood… meaning the 70’s. Frozen seafood pieces in a fake cheese sauce. My baked potato came with Country Crock. Really? You don’t have butter? My wife’s Shrimp Platter _looked_great, but tasted generic. Everything was perfectly the same size and shape, and bland. Her vegetables were-wait for it… frozen. Krab. Need I say more? Portions were generous. Beer was a value at $ 4 for a «half pitcher» that was easily 4 mugs, plus the frosted mug it came with was already almost full. I REALLY wanted to like this place, but I can’t. We won’t return.

Went here after a family cruise on the St. John’ s River. Read mostly good reviews so thought we’d give it a try. There were eight of us. Service was quite efficient and friendly. Food was reasonable and okay for the most part. Catch of the day was mediocre and dry. I ordered scallops which were about tasteless. Shrimp dishes were quote good. I could not get past the fact that they used imitation crab which was in all the stuffed and«crab» dishes. I will not be going back. Too many authentic Fl seafood restaurants to bother with a place that resorts to inferior products.

After a very busy day my family was hungry. After a quick search we decided to try JC’s. They are located on State Road 44 just past Deland and about 15 minutes from where we were located. Since it was 8:45pm, I decided to call and see how late they were open. The lady who answered the phone was very helpful, not only telling me when they closed(9:30) but checking with the kitchen to be sure they were still open and setting a table for us. When we arrived we were greeted by the sweet lady on the phone and served by the owner. We started with onion rings which were perfectly cooked. My kids started with clam chowder soup while I had the coleslaw and my husband had the salad. My kids loved the soup. The coleslaw was excellent. It was clearly homemade and fresh. My husband’s salad was simple but fresh. For our meals, I ordered the shrimp platter, my son had the fried fish, my daughter had crab and my husband had the Captain’s plate. Everything was much better than expected. The food was fresh(the fish was the best I have tasted in a long time), hot and well seasoned. The staff was friendly, attentive, and helpful. The owner even helped my daughter(9) crack her crab when he saw she was struggling. This small family owned restaurant should be on your list of places to visit while in Central Florida.

AMAZING! If you are looking for good Florida cooking– this is the place. The fish is fresh and they give you good sized portions. Everything I tried was delicious. If you are looking for fine dining, this is not the place, but if you want friendly service and mouth watering food you found it!

JC’s Lobster Pot is a complete surprise. When we walked in for our first time we were surprised that it was more«casual» than we expected. But the service is SO great here and the food is even better! We were full & very far from disappointed. We plan on going back again soon!

One of my favorite things about this place was the look of total abhorrent horror on the face of my mother when I brought her here. My Mom is a bit of a proper woman, who enjoys the finer things in life. Lets just say«finer», is not exactly a word associated with JC’s Lobster Pot. In fact, the restaurant’s motto is, «We’re not fine dining, we’re just darn good eatin’.» Take a good look at the posted pictures, and you’ll get an idea for what they mean, especially the entrance. Friggin’ fantastic isnt it! And the food is great. One tip you should know about Florida. If you see a ramshackle restaurant that looks like an absolute falling-apart shack by the side of a river in the middle of nowhere? It’s probably spectacular. JC’s Lobster Pot has some of the best gator tail I’ve ever had. I know it’s probably farm raised, but it wouldnt shock me if they pull it right out of the nearby St. John’s River. Nothing better than having a bucket of cold beer and some fresh seafood. I love this place!
