Best Price Masonry – Joe Moran

Took my money and ran! This guy is bad news. Asked for a $ 4000 deposit and never came back. DO NOT DO BUSINESS With this guy. I wish I had looked him up before handing over my cash.

Awful! Do NOT hire him.
Beware: He changes the name of his company a lot. I wish that I had googled his name «joe moran» because there are bad reviews of HIM using several different COMPANY names. Before I hired him I googled the company name he gave me which was «best price masonry» and I did not find any bad reviews. I figured he was a good worker. BUT if you google his NAME its a different story — so far I have found that he used at LEAST 3 different company names — «armadillo masonry», «JM Masonry» and «Best Price Masonry». If you want to see the reviews google him, his name is Joe Moran and his numbers are 512−247−3191 and his cell is 512−589−1551. He may change his phone numbers and he changes company names frequently. But he is easy to spot, he told me he weighs 420 pounds. The guy is very very large! So even if he changes his company name and his own name, he can’t change his apprearance easily.
Here’s my story:
I hired Joe Moran to repair some retaining walls in my backyard and to level out the yard using fill dirt. He finished half of the work, then demanded to be paid upfront for work he had not done yet and then never came back. He took $ 7,000 of my money and never came back. He also slightly bullied us into paying upfront for an unfinished job. The last night we saw him he was asking for money for work not completed yet and when we said we would pay him when the work was completed. He got really upset and said he was going to go down to my husbands office and stand there with a sign that said
«Mr. _​_​_​_​won’t pay me.» We were appalled and a little scared that he would do it. My husbands office would not tolerate that. So we paid him for the work he had not finished, he swore he’d be back the next day and he never came back.
We had a contract with him that said he would warranty his work for the lifetime that we owned our house. That’s a load of manure. Don’t believe a word out of his mouth. After he ran off with the money for a half finished job we found out that he also used the complete wrong type of fill dirt. So now I’ve had to pay someone to finish the masonry AND haul OUT all of the dirt that Joe used as fill because its like quicksand, you sink into the dirt. Literally! Yesterday I was walking around after a hard rain and I sank in the dirt up to my knees. Its dangerous and I’ve got 2 little kids!
I would absolutely find another contractor if you are looking at this ad. I wish that I had gone with a more reputable contractor. Joe seemed so nice and honest at first. A real good old boy just trying to make a good living. That nice attitude is all to gain your trust, a check — do a llittle shoddy, dangerous work and then run off with money you paid him.
