My favorite and I have traveled all over the world! So tasty and always fresh and hot!!! Absolutely recommend.

What has happened to Jitra? Once upon a time, Jitra served good Thai food, it has become sub par along the same level of microwave Asian cuisine. If you don’t know what Thai and Asian cuisine should taste like you’ll appreciate Jitra in the same way an ignorant person will think Taco Bell is Mexican food. Once upon a time, Jitra served good Thai food, I’m severely disappointed with the downslope of a business that once introduced Del Rio to delicious Thai cuisine.

1st impression, is that service is slow. Arrived after 6:30pm and was seated right away, but we waited at least 10 minutes before someone came to take our order. We ordered Mongolian Beef with fried rice, egg drop soup & salad along with an order of Combination Lomein. The best part of the meal was the egg drop soup. The Mongolian Beef is nothing like I have ever experienced. It arrived in a thick weird tasting gravy with very bland fried rice. The salad served was subpar, but the egg drop soup had a great flavor. As far as the Combination Lomein, it is a bit greasy and heavily salted, but it is a decent portion size. All in all this restaurant serves a combination of Chinese, Japanese, & Thai dishes. This restaurant I would have to say is primarily Chinese influenced and subpar Chinese at that. I don’t believe that I will be eating at this establishment again.

This is some of the worst«Asian» food I’ve ever had. Claims to be Thai, but has bad takes on Chinese, Japanese, Thai, and Korean food. They do a great job of bastardizing how amazinv Asian food can be. We would rather make our own Asian food than brave this place.

The quality of thai food is low, its more Chinese than thai. Love thai food but not for bad customer service, especially from the ownership. Owner swiped my bank card three times stating it was not accepted but how convenient that I go to my bank statement and there is a triple charge.

Jitra’s lies somewhere between panda express and an authentic Thai restaurant, leaning more closely to the former(I know that is a massive spectrum, but the point is that it tastes far from authentic). My wife and I ordered takeout from here while visiting her brother. The food was good, albeit rather greasy, but offered at a fair price. Not a bad place for a takeout night but not something I would swear by my reputation. Being the only Thai place in town, however, Jitra’s is better than nothing.

The service there usually sucks. I’ve always had to flag down waitresses for refills and all the times that I filched a pitcher of water from the counter no one seemed to notice. That said, their Hot and Sour Soup is THEBEST I’ve ever had, anywhere, and I’ve searched for its equal unsuccessfully for over 14 years and across at least 6 other states. The 3 stars I’m giving Jitra are solely because of this.

My table was sticky. My arm, newspaper, drink cup, and napkin stuck to the table. The table LOOKED clean, but everything stuck to it. Eww. I ordered a classic Thai dish. It tasted like bad American style Chinese buffet Chinese food, but with a very slightly thicker and chewier(Thai) style noodle. Not impressed. Nowhere near Thai. I’ve been to Thailand; this wasn’t their food. My shirt sleeve stuck to the table. The server was pleasant enough, but spent far more time conversing with her friends at a nearby table/friend there for takeout/in the kitchen, than our table(of three customers). My cheap plastic plate that held my Thai’ish mostly poor Chinese food stuck to the table when I moved it to get up to pay. Did I mention that my clean LOOKING table was sticky? Bad food, extremely poor cleanliness, nearly non-existent service. Can I select zero stars?

If you haven’t had too much Thai food in your life, it’s not noticeably bad. If you are Thai/Asian/used to Thai food, you may feel disappointed. We had to check it out once, and we don’t feel the need to go again. Panang curry was not very good for us. It’s huge portion but it was a lot of coconut milk and very thick. Tom yum goon was OK. I prefer more spice but it was not bad. The servers are Mexican people and the owner is Thai. But their menu is very confusing with Thai, Chinese and Japanese. No Papaya salad.

I just moved to Del Rio a week ago and was super excited to see there was a Thai restaurant here. Little did I know that this so called«Thai» place was actually a really bad Chinese buffet. The food was chewy and over cooked, the kicker was that most of it was cold. I only ate at the buffet, I didn’t dare order anything off the menu after tasting the horrible food on the buffet line. Needless to say I will never go back. How ever with all of their misses I will say that they did have good curry and good Thai tea. Warning it is 4.00 a glass and no refills, but it is a very tall glass. Cons. bad food, not Thai, not even close. Pros. Good Thai tea, good curry.

I would give this place 0 stars if I could. I was blown away last night. My son ordered General Tso’s chicken and it came out as sauteed chicken breast pieces in a brown sauce. It was not breaded and fried as it is everywhere else I have ever ordered it. When I told the waitress that General Tso’s chicken was supposed to be breaded and fried and with a sauce on the breading, she told me that they serve it two ways — original and crispy. She said since he did not specify crispy, she just made it original. I told her that I’ve been to hundreds of Asian restaurants and it it had always been breaded and fried. She showed me the menu where it said General Tso’s chicken, and in parentheses at the end in small letters it had said original or crispy. I asked her why when she took the order she did not ask my son which one he wanted and she said that when people don’t say anything she just automatically assumes original(the one with no breading).I told her it was the waitress’s job to ask the customers their preferences when there are multiple choices on an order. I told her we did not want it, and she said she would take it back and bring the crispy version. About 10 minutes later, she came back and said the cook 9owner) said they would not make the crispy unless we also paid for the original(wrong one) as she would have to throw it out. I told the waitress that I was appalled that a rest. would treat it’s customers that way, especially since it was THEIR fault. I said I had never been treated like that in the 30+ years I have been eating out. I of course said absolutely not and left Jitra. This is a classic case of shooting yourself in the foot — the owner being worried about losing $ 3 in food costs and blowing the chance to make many times that if we had stayed and eaten, and all the lost money on ALL future business for us and everyone I can tell about this. SOSHORTSIGHTED. Very POOR business skills and judgement.

Coming from California, I didn’t expect much for a town with few Asians. I did not see a single Thai person working here. Service was fine, food was way salty and too saucy, pork was tough to chew, maybe overcooked. I’ll try to help improve their dishes by custom ordering next time, hopefully they listen to customer feedback to improve!

Excellent Thai food in an unexpected border town. The wait staff was friendly and the chef even came out to see that we were enjoying our meal. My friend, who frequently visits Thailand, said the food was better than anything he has eaten in Bangkok. I definitely recommend their dinner specials!

I’m a regular consumer and my favorite dish is the pad fry noodle and the green curry chicken. Also love the house BBQ pork. the workers are all Thai and i believe that they make euthentic thai food, at least they taste really good.

The owner is a very nice lady, but I’m not impressed with the food here. It has more of a Chinese flair than authentic Thai. There are three other Asian restaurants in Del Rio and while Jitra’s is not completely horrible, it just doesn’t deliver. Out of all the Del Rio Asian cuisine choices, Jitra’s food would rated second to last for me. The service is not professional. Once I went there and the waitress was speaking on her cell phone while serving us and kicked a lemon across the floor instead of picking it up. The salad also looked like it was carelessly ripped off the lettuce cabbage and sprinkled with carrots. One of the most exotic selections they have on their menu is the duck but it’s overcooked and you can’t ever taste the quality of the duck or its skin. All it does is make me miss the duck from Chinatown in Los Angeles. I typically stick with the curry dishes with bamboo because they’re pretty good and I have leftovers to take home. I also love the Thai tea, but be warned that it is extremely milky and sweet more than anything.(I have a bad sweet tooth). Jitra’s Thai Cusine has so much potential to be greater because it has the strongest atmosphere in comparison to the other Asian restaurants in Del Rio… but because the food is lacking passion, it’s almost a disappointment. But I do feel like most places in Del Rio don’t even try because there isn’t much competition to motivate them.

Couldn’t help but feel I was eating a package of beef ramen that cost $ 8! The fresh spring rolls were bland, and overly stuffed with noodles to make up for the lack of other ingredients one might expect in a well made spring roll. I was not impressed with the accompanying dipping sauce, which seemed to be a vinegar concoction. Sriracha or a good peanut sauce, were no where to be found. Service was average.

While this may not be a super authentic thai restaurant, it is still good. I enjoy the buffet which includes the normal dishes like pot-stickers and spring rolls, but also throws in a curry or two. I am giving it four stars because: *While it may be average(or a little below) in a normal sized town, this is the best Asian restaurant located in Del Rio. *It works to fix a quick asian food craving. *Their Thai Tea is awesome(and made with half & half so its definitely not low calorie)

If you have ever had Thai or Southeast Asian food, you have probably experienced better than this. My parents are both from Vietnam and I lived in San Francisco my whole life. This place is not anything close to the real thing. Everything is overly greasy or full of MSG. Most of the stuff I have not seen on a Thai menu, so did they just create their own Asian fusion? Or did they just make-up some generic Asian flavors?
