I’ve known Jan for many years and she is an excellent appraiser, teacher and estate sale manager. I worked for her for several years prepping and cashiering at her sales. She is very thorough in her research and preparation of her estate sales. Everything is very nicely displayed and priced. Her goal is to achieve the highest amount of money for her client. She meets and exceeds her client’s expectations.

When the time comes to find a way to get rid of a high volume of «stuff,» it can be really daunting. You need help, you can’t do it all alone and you generally have no idea what anything is worth. When we did my granny’s sale, it was a family affair, a few grandchildren and one or two of the siblings showed up to help and we all generally ran around, not having a solid«go to» person to set the final price. It was a mess. When it came time to liquidate my own parent’s place, I knew better than to try and do it alone. Just too much pressure, too much work! Jan and her team came out, weeded through all of the outbuildings, saw there was a wealth of electronics and video games, so she put together the sales advertisement to specifically attract customers who’d love to get their hands on vintage radios, TVs, service tools. She also managed the household items, pulling everything down to a closed off area where theft could be minimized. I hear things«walk off» at sales like this all the time, so I felt comforted that all was in hand. It was a good sale, almost everything went away, and that which didn’t was efficiently packaged up for donation and that went away too! Whew. It’s been a few years since I used her for the sale, but I did want to share that a good experience is probably far more the norm than the other person’s experience Leslie O.), whose Unilocal review was so scathing. I say, she saved me a LOT of stress, brought buyers who were well-suited to the merchandise at my parent’s Fallbrook home. I appreciated Jan and the professionalism of her team very much.

To start, I’m glad to see that they finally resolved the issue with the Tierrasanta estate sale as they had the address listed incorrectly on the EstateSales website. Their prices are a tad high for some things, which I found odd as a simple internet search will show what items are actually going for vs ideal prices. I’ve no idea whether they take credit cards or not as their listings don’t indicate. And they have this really odd method of making the buyer walk back/forth 2 – 3 times to pay for items. You have to stand in line to get a piece of paper with all the prices of your purchase on it. You then have to leave those items, to avoid theft they say, walk to a different table to pay for your items, did not receive a receipt, BTW. Then you have to walk to a different location, having to weave through other customers waiting in line to get a box for your purchases. THEN… you have to go back to the original line, again, getting in the way of other customers waiting to purchase, to pick up your paid for items. This last time, I had to extricate my stuff from the hands of another customer, as the woman who was supposed to be watching everything, well, wasn’t. There were numerous complaints from customers and the response I heard from someone who works for this company was, «well it works for us.» Well, while it may WORK for you, it doesn’t work for your customers as I saw two different people put their stuff down and walk away after having shopped inside the home for more than 30 minutes. This does NOT work for your customers. Ever heard of a straight line? Or have the customers waiting in line to pay, simply follow the outside of an «L»? Start at one end with items for purchase, items are tally’d, move to next person, pay for items, pick up box after paying for items as they are leaving. This keeps EVERYONE moving in one direction and no back/forth or having to step into lines and interfere with other customers. It’s simple, common sense. I know of at least 6 people, the 2 who left, me and the 3 women I brought with me who will not attend another one of their sales again until they put a better system in place. As to how they are for those having the estate sale? No idea.
