Very unprofessional. Called a week ago to ask for a showing. Received a call today asking if we could come look at it on a day that I work. Apparently our availabilities don’t match up because after telling them I was only available Monday’s and Thursday’s they told me they had already approved another tenant! Why call me and waste my time to tell me you rented the unit to someone else. Will not be taking a look at any of your units in the future!

DONOTEVENCONSIDERRENTINGFROMYAMBERREALESTATE! I am a former Northern Illinois University professor. My wife and I are quiet, responsible, and educated. It should go without saying that we are not the kind of tenants who break things, cause disturbances, or fail to pay bills in a timely manner. Indeed, my academic career has taken us all over the county and we have never previously had so much trouble with a leasing company. Marilyn Yamber, the proprietress of this«business,» consistently treated us with condescension. We found her approach to rental management to be careless, callous, cruel, and arbitrary. Here’s just one example: we had agreed to care for the lawn of the property we rented through Yamber. One day, a grounds crew showed up UNANNOUNCED and proceeded to mow the lawn – despite the fact that it had been less than two weeks since we last mowed it – in the process ruining our vegetable garden. Perhaps Marilyn drove by and thought the lawn looked overgrown. I can’t say what she was thinking, but rather than calling us and requesting that we mow the lawn, she just sent someone else to take care of it. Moreover, the people she sent to handle the lawn spent the whole afternoon cursing loudly. This was three years into our residency, during which time we carefully tended to the grounds. There was NO reason for her to expect we wouldn’t take care of it. We were then CHARGED for this«service.» Again, this is just ONE example of a consistent pattern of ARBITRARYDECISIONMAKING. When we moved out, Marilyn proceeded to with hold the majority of our security deposit to fix«damages» to the property that were there when we moved in. The property in question was the bottom floor of an old house which has been divided into apartments. As with any older home, there were various imperfections at the time we moved in. Since we like older homes, we considered that to be a trade-off. Here’s one example: there are various paint marks on the hardwood floors in most of the rooms. They were there prior to our tenancy. When we moved out, she nevertheless charged us to fix them. Another example: when we moved in, there were holes in the wall(presumably from prior tenants hanging art work). When we moved out, she charged us to fix them. I could go on and on. For the sake of keeping this brief, however, I will not include additional examples. If you are thinking about renting from Yamber please feel free to contact me. I will provide you with more examples of Marilyn Yamber’s bad behavior and thoughtless decision making. Please heed my warning! Go elsewhere! P. S. Marilyn, I know you’re reading. Perhaps, prior to posting a deceitful response, you should look in the mirror and ask yourself if you really want to be that kind of person.

Rent from any where else. If you rent from them record it when you walk through it. When they did my walk through all the appliances, which worked fine the week before, magically didn’t work. The carpet which was noted that it was ripped when I moved in, needs to be replaced for the rips that were already there. Overall just a horrible rental experience! Watch yourself not to get taken advantage of.

That’s the problem. Your agent isn’t telling you the truth. I actually arrived before the scheduled showing and saw the other car in the drive and parked right next to them. I waited for them to go inside and see the house. Your agent was not only late he never even made and attempt to introduce himself. I was there the entire time and as when they were leaving that’s when I exited my vehicle and had to approach your Realtor and stop him as he was walking to his car. The whole problem here is the realtor’s attitude. When I stated I didn’t appreciate the double booking and having to wait his response«I Don’t Care». I would have been fine with double booking had that been explained. But«I Don’t Care» is The issue at hand!!!

Overall we have has a great experience with Yamber. Everyone in the office is very nice and helpful. We used an outside Realtor who received the credit when we signed our lease. They rent all different types of locations. Any house, apartment, or townhouse we viewed was very nice and surpassed what we were expected.
