Our insurance agent recommended Glenwood to remove half of huge Norway spruce that was brought down by the February 2011 blizzard. The work was very good, the price fair, and the two workers went out of their way to help my wife shovel snow! A very good firm with fine supervisors.

I saw an ad in the local newspaper that they remove snow from rooftops. We had just had a huge snowstorm and so I asked them to come by and give me a free estimate on the work. They said that they charge $ 40 an hour per man and it would take two men three or more hours to complete the job. They then said that the price would be $ 250. My mistake was verbally agreeing to the $ 250 price and assuming that they were capable of accurately estimating the time that was needed to do the job. In fact, it took two men exactly one hour to complete the work. Since this was the deal that I struck, I paid them the $ 250 but felt exceedingly taken advantage of. Certainly they should have been better able to judge how long the work would take or they knew from the outset that it would only take an hour and they were just planning to rip me off. On the next business day, I called Glenwood to relate my experience and express my dissatisfaction about their business practices. I spoke with the company’s owner and was told that the hourly rate per man was in fact $ 90, not $ 40. Additionally, he said that since I had already paid the $ 250, nothing more could be done about it. In summary, I think that Glenwood misrepresented the truth in a number of ways and that they truly don’t care at all about how they are viewed by customers. I would never use their services again nor would I ever recommend them to anyone.

LOOKTODOBUSINESSELSEWHERE!!! I hired this company to take down an old tree and prune several others on my property. The owner claims to be an arborist, so I took it for granted that I could trust the company to aesthetically prune my trees, as nearly anyone can take down a tree with the right equipment. BIGMISTAKE!!! The owner never stayed on the job past the initial minutes of taking down the tree. He left a crew of non-English speakers to prune and shape my trees and left the site, leaving them to work on their own. When I returned home from work, they were finishing up and when I saw my trees, I nearly died. They literally butchered my trees, taking down limbs that never should have come down. I am remorseful to this day, as the damage they did will never repair itself in my lifetime. I am sick about the trees they ruined which were once full and beautiful. I never knew I needed to supervise the job. I thought that was what I was paying this business owner to do, and never knew he was just leaving cheap laborers on my Northshore property who had no sense of artistry when it comes to pruning or shaping trees. When I told him I wouldn’t pay him the price we’d agreed, he threatened me on the phone and then appeared on my property to harrass me in front of another landscape business owner I had an appt. with. He acted like a thug. He was very aggressive. He attempted to defame my character in front of this other person while on my property. I had to ask him to leave. Please beware of doing business with this company. They don’t care what kind of job they do, and unless supervised by you, you may end up as sorry as I am. They are very competitive and with their years of experience, you would think they’d be very good. The owner, however, is merely interested in making as many appts. as possible, and being a native speaker, he just goes around on appointments to contract work. Then he drops the crew off to do the work and leaves. The work they do is criminal.
