This is a huge bookstore and it’s where I finally found a book I love, by a writer no one has heard of: M.M. Kaye, who wrote Far Pavilions many years ago.(I have never found another book by this author). Over the years I have given it as a gift to readers who enjoy epic tomes. It offers an accurate portrayal of the ancient culture of Kabul and the more remote areas along the Afghan-Pakistan border. They had all the books I was looking for and I was impressed by how orderly the shelves and tables were. They carry a huge complement of magazines and there was an entire second floor where more specialized books as well as music could be found. The staff was helpful and pleasant. I instantly recognized that this location was unlike most other bookstores: There was no screaming, no shouting and hardly any cellphone ringing. The coffee shop at the back was quiet though full of readers. Maintaining an atmosphere of quiet and calm shows great respect for fellow readers, so for me, this location really stands out.
