I stopped by late on arriving for a week’s vacation, and while not expecting a high-end grocery store, I did not expect a meat department selling brown(yes, very oxidized) pork. My son wanted a cheeseburger but after seeing the quality of meats I convinced him to have something else. The people were friendly, but the quality of meats very poor.

I’m writing this review with the tourist in mind: The Galley is your best chance to pick up groceries in Deer Isle. They have a descent selection of Maine beers and all the essentials that you’ll need at reasonable prices. Unless you want to drive down to Burt Cove Market(also owned by the same family), The Galley is your best chance for food. The Galley was originally in the middle of Deer Isle village but moved to it’s current location across from the high school in 1998. Now, Maine is not known for it’s pizza, but the Galley actually makes pretty awesome pies for carry-out(make sure to call ahead). The staff is always friendly and helpful. If Donna is working the register, make sure to give her a hard time for me :)
