Went in on Saturday nights and sat near the fire, a nice touch. Our group ordered the deep fried pickles, onion soup, burger, London broil and a panini. The hostess and sister duo knew what to recommend and were e trembly attentive. All food was great, we will be back. Not the place if you are in a hurry but a great leisurely meal.

This one is tough. We had a coupon where we needed to spend $ 50 to get our $ 25 off so we ordered more food than we could eat. We both had soup and an entrée, then ordered two appetizers to go. It was not busy when we got there and there was only two servers to attend to everyone. Ours also had to be the bartender. Our server was running around trying to do what she could, shame on the owners for not having more help on a Saturday. Service was slow but not the fault of Amber our server, she was doing all she could. The problem seemed to be in the kitchen. The food was good. No problem there. What needed work was the restaurant. Rain stained ceiling tile and our table light pulling out of the ceiling. We waited for our to-go food to get done and when it did they had in on a plate when it was meant to be to-go so they slid everything in a to-go container. Even though the food was good I don’t think we would go back.

Just came here with my husband and 5 year old daughter for the first time tonight on a Friday around 5pm. There were only a few tables taken and some people at the bar. The fire going had a very nice touch. The waitresses were very friendly. We were given some very fresh bread with an olive oil/pesto dipping sauce to start. My husband got a cheeseburger and fries which he enjoyed. My daughter got the kid’s cheeseburger we we returned because it came out rare. They sent us a new one very quickly. I got the chicken fajitas. They come out sizzling with all the fixings. I really disliked whatever seasoning they cooked the chicken and veggies with though. The fajitas seemed to be lacking the right seasonings and I only had a few bites of my meal. I’ll give a 3 out if 5 stars.

A satisfying burger and fries, cooked to perfection. Not an easy task. I’ll be back. Nice. Nice. Very nice.

Went here early on a Saturday night. Not too busy but filled up throughout our experience. I love our waitress. Very friendly, KNEWTHEMENU(very important), came back to check up. Forgot a couple of things but was still good. I had the New England clam chowder off the specials. It was OK. Not as thick as I was hoping and had a different kind of taste. Hard to describe. They offered bread at the beginning which I did enjoy. For my meal I had the caprese panini. Again decent. I liked the bread. The chicken was very thin. I’d much rather have a thick juicy piece. Rest of the table enjoyed their meals. I have been here in the past and I would say they have improved and developed their menu. The décor is still the same. With a remodel and less grungy atmosphere I could see the place blossom. Above average experience but could be improved.

I think they need to improve their service on the bar and in the dining room. tends to be slow. If your in a hurry you may want to try some place different. The food tends to be very good. From soup or salad to entrée.it’s pretty consistent. The other night I stopped in and the bar was out of tonic. how does a busy bar RUNOUTOFTONIC???

We had a great experience here. It’s a dive bar and you go in knowing that, but we had the nicest waitress one can imagine. I wish I knew her name, but she was a friendly older lady, who cared so much about her job. I hope the managers appreciate what she does. The food was also remarkably tasty given comparably priced meals at similar restaurants.

I’ve been here three times and thoroughly enjoyed it each time. The food is amazing. I recommend the cod and fries or the nachos. I’ve been told the lobster rolls are great too. The place was clean and the staff were friendly. Only issue was the food does take a while to come out; but it’s worth it.

I have eaten here three times. Usually order Cheeseburger. Always enjoyed these burgers. Comes with excellent French Fries. I have read some of the poor reviews on this restaurant and I am surprised by these reviews. Service has always been good but each time I was at the restaurant, there were very few other customers. I plan on going back. TRAVELKAL

Zero stars if possible. Saturday evening, place was dead. One other table besides us & a hand full of folks in the bar area. Waitress took at least 10 minutes to come take our drink order & an additional 15 minutes to bring them to us. We ordered food & drink together because of the long wait before she came over. Had we not already placed a food order we would have asked for our check after taking the 1st sip of our drinks, yuk! Those that ordered a soup got it all together with their meal. I ordered chicken fajitas, got steak & charged the extra. How do you screw up nachos? Um yeah, just ask the Ivory. Mac & cheese? Penne with a bit of melted cheese on the top. The special pumpkin martini & pumpkin margarita tasted similar to formaldehyde. I would have been more satisfied with Subway next door & paid 20 $ versus 120 $. This place hasn’t gone down hill, it’s avalanched down a mountain. Stay away unless you’re just looking for a bottle of beer.

2.75 stars Service is friendly though a little slow. Cous cous felt a little… crunchy, somehow, but chicken was juicy and tasty. Décor leaves a lot to be desired but overall, if you want quick pub food and are in deep river, this is your best bet.

Great beer selection, but don’t order the paella. This is a nice, intimate place with a good selection oh food on the menu. I was torn between a steak and the paella. The paella was bad… and I feel bad to say this. It feels like they made a bed of rice and threw whatever leftover ingredients the read were in paella on it. I wound come here again, but look for more advice on what their best dish is.

I bought a Groupon for Ivory after reading the menu and impulsively buying it prior to checking Unilocal.Of course, after checking Unilocal,I had a newfound anxiety about what the experience would be like at Ivory. I actually considered scrapping the Groupon, it only cost $ 15 and Deep River is somewhat inconvenient for us. But on the expiration date of the Groupon, I sucked it up and we went to Ivory. First impression… TINY parking spaces. Two different cars were parked over their lines, thus taking two spots each. And there weren’t a lot of spots to begin with… yet, still spots open… bad sign? We get out of the car and see two other people walk in a back door that I would have said went to the kitchen. So we walk around the side. Another door looks like it goes to the bar, but we want the dining room. We walk to the street side entrance, thinking it’s the main entrance. The door is wide open and my husband stops me just as I’m about to walk into the kitchen. So we walked back to the bar entrance and found the hostess stand, there was no one there. Such an odd setup at this place! A waitress finally came out and told us to sit anywhere. Only one table was taken and another was dirty so we picked a clean booth near the windows. We order drinks… my husband asks for a «212» off of their cocktail menu. The waitress says«what’s that, some kind of cocktail?» I can’t help myself and a little quickly and harshly pointed out that yes, it was a cocktail. On. Their. Menu. She laughs and comes back with only my sangria and says«oh the bartender doesn’t know it either. But don’t worry, the owner writes it all down so he’ll figure it out and you’ll get all the right stuff.» Don’t worry? Oh boy, I’m worried! There are maybe 10 cocktails on your menu and ordering one stumps everyone in the place? Bad sign. For his second drink he got a martini that they served in the smallest baby martini glass I’ve ever seen. Not worth $ 8! I see what people say about the place being tired. Old carpet, holes in the walls, scrapes on the chairs, chips in the plates. Food was mediocre. I had a cup of chili and the fish tacos. My husband had French onion soup and ribs with mac and cheese and sweet potato fries. The whole time I had Kitchen Nightmare-esque visions of all of it being taken out of the freezer and then microwaved in the kitchen. The menu is so big and diverse and with 6 total people in the place at dinner time, there is NOWAY the food can all be fresh. It’s just not possible., Gordon Ramsay has taught me that. Chili was the star for me. Fish tacos were dry and bland. Dry fish, dry tortilla, dry«slaw»(I don’t consider it slaw unless it has a dressing… dry veggies do not make a slaw). The only sauce on it was a couple dribbles of cilantro sauce on top of it all, and I hate cilantro. It did say that on the menu so it’s my own fault, but there was not nearly enough of it anyway. French onion soup tasted watered down. Ribs were ok, sweet potato fries tasted overcooked, if that is even possible, and mac and cheese was blah. The bar area was drab. The only potential plus was the outdoor patio which may be nice in the summer. But instead of being on the quaint main drag of Deep River, it faces the parking lot. The setup of this place is all backwards. It was way too expensive for the quality, even with the Groupon. So all in all, not likely we will be back.

Went here with my family last year, overall our meal was good. Nice atmosphere inside, reasonable prices. Pulled pork was sweet and delicious. The waitress was nice but must have been new because she was very discombobulated and seemed a little frazzled. My dad ordered a glass of red wine… It was sour and ended up making him sick to his stomach… But other than that it was a good experience. I enjoyed playing darts outside after my meal in the little patio area. I would go back again next time I’m in the area.

Not even Robert Irvine can save this place! first, upon walking in, we noticed how filthy the dining room is. dining debris all over the floor, filthy carpets, etc. I happened to spot some of the kitchen while heading toward the ladies room. Gross! Service was slow and spotty. Had to ask for new silverware due to dirty knife. french onion soup was incredibly salty while lacking a rich flavor, and the cheese was simply melted, not broiled with any golden crunch on top. And it appeared to be all mozz. No flavor, just goo. Really, it calls for gruyère. we got burgers and fries. My burger, a Reverend, has carmelized onions, cheese, and bacon, with bbq sauce. It was large but extremely bland. No charred crust on the beef. Might as well have been boiled, for all the flavor it had. bypass this filthy place and go to Burger King instead, the burgers will taste better and it will be cleaner!

after reading several positive reviews on Unilocal we opted to go here for lunch, the entire experience was poor. Service was very sluggish by a an uncaring individual. The owners entire family(8 adults and 2 loud children) were there walking in and out of the kitchen with their winter coats on, I wonder how sanitary that is? They were all served first while real costumers waited. The ketchup was rancid and the food was poor quality. I had hunks of fatty material the size of quarters from prosuitto. We were so disappointed, and without anyone who cared or seemed concerned around or questioning how our lunch was we left.

It’s been almost 2 years since our last visit to Ivory, unfortunately, it was not the same experience. Hostess was prompt and friendly seating us right away near the fireplace. It was cold and damp in the lounge and for whatever reason, the fireplace was not operating.(gas fired) The atmosphere was very dark, adding the room temperature– just not a good feeling. We ordered burgers and salad. The salad with salmon was excellent! The burger was okay, the roll was huge and the burger was tiny for $ 10– included fries which were very good. My biggest complaint, other than the atmosphere, was the dirty water glasses. Maybe it’s the water or the soap, but not looking too clean. If this place were lighted up, new carpet and consistent food, it could be a gold mine. Not many choices in the area.

I like The Ivory… It’s a fun place with a large selection on the menu and they usually have some tasty specials too. It’s typically a hard decision. I’ve had a couple good steaks but don’t recall if they were specials or menu items. The bar is a lively place on the weekend with live music on some nights and a good selection of cocktails.

I only went there for dinner because some guys from the marina suggested we go there. I had been there for lunch quite a few years ago and not been impressed so I wasn’t expecting much. Big surprise. Some what similar to Applebee’s but better in a unique way. I had the Sword fish special. Really good. Prices were similar to the chains. Dinner for 3 with tax and tip was $ 105.00 No desert but we all had alcohol. Entrees were $ 15 — $ 25.00. They also had sandwiches and burgers for a little less than $ 10.00 I was there on a Sunday night, fairly late so the place was quite, and service was great. I am looking forward to my next visit.

So, after getting lost and ending up in Deep River, CT, we ended up here. And, fortunately for me, dinner was delicious! We ordered the fried calamari as the appetizer; fish and chips and the teriyaki burger were the entrees. The fried calamari came out hot and it was crispy. Yum! There was also fried banana peppers thrown in to spice it up. Our entrees were also gratifying. The fish was moist and crispy. The fries was typical nothing special about fried potatoes here. The burger was def. juicy and the arugula helped cut the fattiness of the burger. The dessert does seem like it came«out of a box» but it was still delicious nevertheless.
